  1. Think they changed the rules after that. Iirc a bunch of finals teams got hurt by their assistants being poached that season.
  2. The main thing that the board would have considerd as far as supporters are concerned is the drop off of memberships and attendances.
  3. I hope you're right but worth noting the AFL's colours are also red and blue.
  4. Was literally trolling the forum a couple of weeks ago with 'intel' that Goodwin was safe.
  5. Would have been nice if he came to us when he left Brissy.
  6. It's so funny how the media flips the narrative once it's no longer polite to criticise Goodwin. Most of the people shedding crocodile tears were the loudest ones calling for change.
  7. Gawn really is the best club ambassador I've ever seen.
  8. Spargo has been a great servant to the club but he's been pushed out of the side. If he has a decent offer elsewhere he should go, not much more than depth for us these days.
  9. Just rent Waverley as a stop gap. Get the admin and footy department at one location. Half the drive from the city. Sort out Caufield in the background. It will make us instantly more appealing as a club.
  10. They wouldn't. Oliver would have to ask his manager to find a trade and they would come back with the best offers.
  11. Someone will pay 800k for Oliver that ain't a heap of money in the current game.
  12. Didn't Langdon say the senior players got told the same night as Goodwin?
  13. Stability is great when things are working. Disruption is necessary it's not.
  14. I'm still on the fence with Buckley but starting to lean more on the yes side. He speaks about as well as anyone in the media and is open about mistakes he's made and how he can improve as a coach. Really seems to have the passion for it and got a sense he was pretty keen.
  15. Think it's pretty rare that a playing group will endorse a coach sacking, let's be honest.
  16. I think Goodwin raising it was pretty telling. It's clearly a sore point. When it comes to recruitment and player retention, training facilities matter.
  17. Pretty excited about the next era. Things were feeling very stale. Give me a coach with some real vision about where to take the club.
  18. Collingwood's admin were in disarray when they appointed MacCrae. It doesn't really matter. Guerra and Smith were obviously party to the decision.
  19. Yep. The bit where he credited PJ, Mahoney, Viney and no one else was a telling moment. Interesting Roos didn't get a shout out either. Something always been off between the two of them.
  20. What? Why?
  21. Pretty different circumstances I would have thought. Not like premiership coaches don't get sacked all the time.
  22. Thanks Simon. Now we can start moving forward as a club.
  23. I'm not. I'm just giving you my view of one of the requirements I feel is important for those roles. I don't know enough about the background of our current board to have a strong opinion there.
  24. Footy boards are unpaid gigs same as the presidency. I'm suspicious of people who aren't really into footy and aren't Melbourne supporters who go for seats on the board. There are people who would use such positions as networking opportunities. For paid positions like the CEO you expect people to be professional so who they supported before hand doesn't matter.
  25. Why would that even need to be a rule? If Trac says I want to go we can either say yes or no. If we say yes we can tell him to work out his new terms with his next club. If he gets offered a pay cut he doesn't like them he can choose to stay put.
