Am sure I saw a Melbourne player look to handball to a St Kilda trainer who was in white in the first quarter. If we have to wear white, then the opposition trainers should not be allowed to wear white.

On The Couch lacks integrity, relevance
Flying Cloud replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Turned off this show ages ago, but given their apparent recent over the top negativity, I will take the next step. I notice Gillette and Sportsbet.com advertising on that site. Don't bet online, but will not buy Gillette stuff now. -
On the Couch - Brock talks about 'tanking'
Flying Cloud replied to jumbo returns's topic in Melbourne Demons
Many times the swimming teams don't field their strongest teams in the heats and semi-finals, so they can rest swimmers for the finals. Which in many ways is similar to the Swans under Paul Roos and many other clubs in the NAB Cup http://www.smh.com.a...00210-nsfl.html http://www.theroar.c...in-the-nab-cup/ Is that tanking? -
On the Couch - Brock talks about 'tanking'
Flying Cloud replied to jumbo returns's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just listended to the SEN interview with Gardiner again. When asked if had he stayed, would he have allowed what ever was going on to happen he replied - "In the whole time I was there, I don’t think....... in fact I am 100% sure Neil Daniher and I had never ever done anything other than put out a team that actually tried to go out and win.... He does did not say that he didn't have any conversation with Bailey about the matter, and as McQ said he had half a season with him, and in fact presumably he sat down with bailey at the start of his tenure and specifically discussed how things were going to done. -
What point was On the Couch trying to make?
Flying Cloud replied to The Third Eye's topic in Melbourne Demons
Extremely good point. NAB Cup may not be the most important competition, but it is still a competition, and you can bet on it. With this then every team has tanked. -
I will be interested to see how this pans out. It is different to a salary cap breach as when they have occured there has been a paper trail, and therefore evidence. In this case there is unlikely to be any paper trail, and so it will end up being one person's word against anothers. For instance Vlad has said he will run anyone out of the comp if they are found to have been involved in tanking. So if Brock McLean says he was tanking, would he have to go. Probably not - it may even be against the governments whistle blower legislation anyway. What about Dean Bailey? I could imagine the AFL could put influence on Port to sack him. However there would have to be a level of natural justice, or again Dean could take legal action. But Dean is unlikely to confirm that there was tanking going on and so it would be Brock's word again Dean's. What about sanctions agains the MFC. Again the AFL would need real evidence that they had breached some rules or had brought the game into direpute. In addition I think they would need to provide natural justice to the club, otherwise the club could well take the matter through the legal system. If they did that then there would be a lot of very nervous people, including Brock McLean.

I think this is really unfair. Richmond are improving. After many years of finishing 8th from the bottom they have a good chance of finishing 10th from the bottom this year.

I like marching bands (he says ducking for cover), but they were shocking, needed to be miked. But I actually wondered if they were there because the trumpter has been banned from the turf for two home games because he had a run in with an official at the last game. If it was that then it was a great idea, ban the trumpeter - get a whole band!

The tickets say non-transferable, but I don't think most people mind if a few opposition supporers come in, as long as they don't carry on to much. There was guy last year at the same game who was carry on and [censored] off quite a few people around him. You are right DT should be some way of having this sorted.

Night of the Long Knives ... This Thursday.
Flying Cloud replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just checked - Alwyn Davey 2012 - Average Disposals 13.7, Average Tackles 2.7 Aaron Davey 2012 - Average Disposals 10.1, Average Tackles 4.6 Aaron is 64th in league for tackles and 5th in the team. Not the best best in the team but far from the worst. -
Message from the President...
Flying Cloud replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
That was shocking. Why didn't they do some proper enqiring interviewing. All they did was "Did you interview X, did you interview Y....." -
Brilliant! I certainly don't have the solutions, but I do one thing. Knee jerk reactions driven by populous sentiment is not the way to grow or improve. Clearly things need improvement and change is probably necessary, but let’s not create more scandal, uncertainty and media attention. What the club really needs is some hard work from those there, some considered changes and a month out of the media. On the other hand if it is inevitable then do it sooner rather than later, and lets hit rock bottom (if we haven't already).

Opel - our new Back of Jumper sponsor
Flying Cloud replied to Tyson4Brownlow's topic in Melbourne Demons
I read an article recently about plans by GM to launch the Opel brand in Australia. I seem to remember the plan is to try and play the on the "Europeaness" of the brand. The idea that a Opel Astra or what ever might be able to compete against the BMW and VW cars better than a Holden Astra in the sales stakes. If that is their plan then sponsoring the Demons would seem a good fit. And if it is a GM plan they will have plenty of marketing bucks and will be a long term strategy. -
Quick review of WebJet Annual report show them to look like a proper company. Listed on ASX, above average share growth for last 5 years, good revenue and margin, aquisition and growth overseas.etc.

Eddie and his guest Harold Mitchell, have committed to get us two sponsors by the end of the week. No idea how to take it. Playing for Vlad's job? Is on his Fox Footy show at the moment.

I don't know how many fit players we have who have not played senior footy this year, but whatever the number, that ios the number of changes we need to make. Can't make any difference to the result we will get.

18 months ago this team ended below us on the ladder. What the hell is going on? I'm not yet going to microwave my membership, but someone needs to provide some answers. And can we please just get rid of the rat(s) who is destyroying the moral at the team. I don't know who it is nor do I care. Just get rid of them.

AFL Employee leaked info about indigenous players
Flying Cloud replied to BarrassHarrass's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have seen a whole heap of stuff about the game on the weekend and about Aaron's effort. I was at the game and I saw Aaron chase many times like he used to. First time I have seen it since he broke his leg. Did he contribute for the whole game? No. But I think that is standard for fast small forwards. He was certainly putting his all in many times when he ran down several players, and his goal assist to Green was showed he still has some great skills. -
Found it! Is Round 3 vs Richmond Saturday 14 April at 1.45 (MCG). Was in those little calendars the club sent out in the members packs.

Just planning out my footy year, but I can't find mention of when the alternate home game as compensation for the Darwin game is. Anyone know?

I heard that as well! Got me wondering.

Thanks Jimmy -
Not true WYL. He came home for genuine "family issues". His father was considering a career change and massive pay rise.

Training - Friday 25 November, 2011

Imagine the opposition ruckman dismay when we interchange Jamar for a fit and experienced Gawn. -
Where do footballers live - I don't mean there street address, just what suburbs. I sort of guess a lot live in St Kilda and down that way with some in through Richmond and Hawthorn sort of area.
