Are you going to attend our last home game

I'll be there with parents and kids -
The problem with Matthews, Roos, Wallace, and Thomas is that there first loyalty is the media. In addition I think Roos is still employed by the Swans in the academy. I know Lyon is also a media person, but he has shown he also has a loyalty to the club and Jimmy.

For what it is worth (work was a bit slow today!) Since 1906 - There have been 47 different premiership coaches for the 105 premierships 23 different coaches have won 1 premiership 7 coaches have won 2 premierships at 1 club 2 coaches have won 2 premierships at 2 clubs 2 coaches have won 3 premierships at 1 club 2 coaches have won 3 premierships at 2 clubs 3 coaches have won 4 premierships at 1 club 4 coaches have won 4 premierships at 2 clubs 2 coaches have won 5 premierships at 2 clubs 1 coach has won 6 premierships at 1 club (Norm Smith) 1 coach has won 8 premierships at 1 club and of the premiership coaches (hence all of the following have been premierships coaches) 25 coaches have coached at 2 or more teams 12 coaches have coached at 3 or more teams 4 coaches have coached at 4 teams 1 coach coached at 5 teams No coach has won premierships at more than 2 teams, but it could happen. Source List of Australian Football League premiership captains and coaches NB I have only used details for coaches as head coaches in the AFL/VFL and used wikipedia for details of coaches coaching history. I counted the 2 coaches at South in 1918 as 1.

Bank Of Melbourne Banking on Melbourne fc
Flying Cloud replied to Dee1987's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just a guess.... An article in the age today talks about Kia trying to move in a new direction and take on Mercedes. Kia flies the coupe Kia chief designer Peter Schreyer formerly worked with Audi and penned the timeless TT coupe. He is clearly having a lot of fun re-inventing a formerly stodgy, staid and budget-focused brand into something with genuine desirability ''I believe the car is a strong statement from Kia: We are ready to fast forward to an all-new chapter," According to Kia Australia boss. So if Kia is looking for the right demographic to try and associate with, perhaps they will sponsor Melbourne. And I for one would not dare critisise them for trying if they are going to give us 1.8 million per year. -
Another negative article about the Dees that ends with Like him or not, Dean Bailey and Tim Harrington have positioned Melbourne beautifully for any incoming coach to take over and achieve success quickly. ????

Posted on the Davey 150 thread, but some Melbourne supporter obviously said something to Aaron while he was on the bench as he Aaron reacted to it and said something back at the supporter. He collected the Richmond player (missed who it was) soon as he went back on after that incident.
-
Saw a very interesting incident late in the second quarter. A Melbourne supporter sitting near the Melbourne bench (not in the MCC members area, in the MelbourneFC reserved seating area) obvious said something to him regards his performance because Aaron mouthed something back at him very angrilly. When he went back on the ground he was clearly still angry as that's when he collected the Richmond guy (missed who it was) with his elbow. Aaron has always been one of my favourite players and I thought his second half was an a good improvement. I reckon what Aaron needs is a real good sport physcologist. At his best he is a match winner, just at the moment he is far too easily undone by close tagging and a bit of niggling.

In retrospect I agree - would just be good to see some sign! But I have waited so many years so far that I suppose I can wait until the AGM.

Can anyone point to where he said this. I would like to see the full story.

I keep on hearing that there the administration at Melbourne is a basketcase. Lethal has apparently said a coach would have to be an imbicile to take on the job at Melbourne until the admin istration is sorted. Patrick Smith gets way stuck into the administration every time Melbourne is mentioned. BUT The Board have only brought in Gary Lyon to look at Football Operations, not the administration. AND I don't see anyone talking about WHAT the problems are. If the administration is a mess then we should be hearing about it in detail and we should be looking to the board to resolve it. Is anyone else worried about this as well?

Eade won't be coaching the Dogs next year
Flying Cloud replied to Real Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hard to know - I have met him and like him as a bloke. Played in 4 premierships with the Hawks Coached Brisbane Bears reserves to the Premiership in 1991 (that has gotta be a fair accomplishment given how bad the Bears were) Took Swans to a GF in his first year. Three prelim finals at the Bulldogs. -
I listened to SEN commentary of the game while I was there, and found it curious but also good that Mick found positives in quite a few things. Can't remember an example unfortunately, but went something like Demonms player misses a gaoal and Mick says the good thing is the way he won the ball in tight contest. He must of said similar things at least hald dozen times or more. And is my understanding that you cannot hold a anyone in Australia to a peronal services contract, unless for example you pay a large payout to end the contract and include a clause of not working, or not working for a competitor, attached to that payout. Also if Collingwood did try and sue Mick for breach of contract if would make it hard for them to get anyone else to sign up to a contract down the track.

I can understand this. We wouldn't want the boys living out and about and rubbing shoulders with the hoi polloi of that well known mecca GWS. Oh of course that would be their supporters.

Based on the number of posts I would have to say that the "bunch" responding to this thread aren't quite as loquacious as yourself. However, like you I hope these events help us move forward to better and greater things.

If you had the power, what would you do?
Flying Cloud replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
To save Viney the burden of care taker coach I would rotate the coaching job among the remaining coaches for the remaining games. Keep Connolly until the end of the season to keep a handle on the way things are run. -
So what do you believe Melbourne stand for? Or do you just add to the chorus of ney sayers.
-
I heard Patrick Smith say that Melbourne are a blob and don't stand for anything. Melbourne for me stands for: · The origins of the game · An unparalleled history · A team that cares for the community (have always been at the lead of supporting causes such as Field of Women, Choir of Hard Knocks) · The team that built the MCG - the heart of Melbourne the city (the MCG is the stadium it is today because the Melbourne Football Club drew massive crowds from the 20s through to the 60s) · A team that brings out such passion that a seriously ill ex-player would continue to work tirelessly for its success. · A team who can grow its membership at a time when they are languishing at the bottom of the ladder Patrick gave an example of another team - North Melbourne who stand for the shinboner spirit - Well without having ago at the undoubtedly passionate Roo's supporters, if all they stand for is the "spirit" of a leg bone, they don't really stand for much. I am sure others could add to my list above. EDIT: Spellling

This is NOT about a Junior Clubman who may become a Superstar - I'll call him Brian Jounalist: Hail Messiah! BRIAN: I'm not the Messiah! Jounalist: I say You are, Lord, and I should know. I've followed a few. Everyone else: Hail Messiah! BRIAN: I'm not the Messiah! Will you please listen? I am not the Messiah, do you understand?! Honestly! Football Commentator: Only the true Messiah denies His divinity. BRIAN: What?! Well, what sort of chance does that give me? All right! I am the Messiah!
-
True, although harder to keep third party sponsors quiet because it invovles reaching out to third parties! A contact with another coach would only require contact with the coach and the manager.

I listen to KB most mornings too, and everytime I do I wonder why. Almost everything he says is Bull#$%^&. In reagrd to MTM, I would Bailey another year. The Geelong experience showed me that it is as much about the playing group as the coach, and if you look at most premiership teams they have had the same coach for at least 4 or 5 yeasr before they achieve success. I would prefer to stick with Bailey than wait another 4 or 5 years for success. I think we are on track for success in 2013/14. And an afterthought... There is one thing that this board has done very well, and it is managed communications very well. Cannot imagine that if the club is after Malthouse it would be leaked to the media by someone running into KB. They have managed stuff a lot better than that.
-
Me to. (Does that help?)
-
I don't understand why when Melbourne is beaten by Hawthorn by 45 points, people call for Bailey to be sacked, but when the Esssendon is beaten by Hawthorn (with a heap of injuries) by 65 it is the lists fault!

Would love to win an Ethihad game and a couple more games against Melbourne based teams. That will set us up well for next year.
