Collingwood Supporters in Melbourne Reserved Seats
Flying Cloud replied to Flying Cloud's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am sorry - I bow to your clearly far more superior intellect and devotion to the club. PS I don't knit, nor own a thermos, and the whole incident started because this guy kept on standing up in front of me when I was trying to watch the game. Hence why I got annoyed. -

Clearly someone else who doesn't care too much for the club. The guy stole money by not paying and then sits there and rubs our face in it? -

Actually the member has broken the conditions of membership - it is non-transferable. I would think that this guy taking money off Melbourne by not paying for his ticket might upset you if actually cared about the Dees. And yes - if he is a guest in the Melbourne Reserved area he should behave appropriately. It is the Melbourne reserved seating area. If the member wants to sit with his mates - sit elsewhere or get an AFL membership. -
There was a guy a few rows in front of me, "a guest" who was a scum supporter and kept on jumping up everytime the scum got the ball. I asked him several times to sit down and he started having a dig back at me, along with the "member" who had invited him in. None of the behaviour was bad enough to text the anti-social hotline, but it ruined the day for me even before the umpires and the Dees had. There have been plenty of other members who invite non-Melbourne supporters into the reserved seats - and they pretty much just sit and keep quiet - even today there were some. I believe that having paid good money for a reserved seat that I should have the right not to be annoyed by supporters of other clubs. So am I over-reacting, or should I report this guy to the Club?

It goes on and on.... My impression is that Tom Scully is a very impressive young man. In fact I would be very proud to call him my son. My son who is 13 now, knows that he can get away with a fair bit, but that his integrity (ie not lying) is not negotiable. If Scully was lying when he stood in front of the media earlier this year then he clearly isn't the impressive young fellow we all thought he was, and well he can just leave, and we will a premiership with the rest of the fine young men we have at our club. So I believe Tom at face value on what he has said earlier this year.

Congratulations Beamer. And Congratulations to the MFC on keeping this quiet. Is the sign of a tight well run organisation.

I am fast beginning to detest Dennis Cometti. Three times in the 1st 30 minutes of last nights broadcast he said Max Gawn is not or does not look 208cm. What is he saying? That the Dee's are lying about Max's hieght. Get a brain Cometti.

That would be the same Mick Malthouse who said ''I strenuously object to being branded a liar. I acknowledge my original position has caused me much embarrassment and my family great distress, but the reason I reacted to the question the way I did was because at that moment, I felt it was the best outcome not to drag the two clubs and a number of individuals into an obvious controversy.'' The Age April 13 2010 Of course he is better person because he is special.(He can lie and slur any player he likes). I won't listen to SEN when he is a commentator.

Yeah why not - but I do sit in the reserved area. Will even wear them home on the train if we win by more than 50 points.

Heard Jimmy on the radio the other day saying this was a dreadful term to use. I tend to agree, he may well be out of a job, but I sure his family would feel sick to the core every time they saw this expression.

Like many of the posters above I did hold concerns in regard to the Deesbet sponsorship, however, having read this thread I am now less concerned. Also it is worth remembering that the MelbourneFC uses some of its funds, which come from a range of sources including Deesbet, to support a number of Community Partners as well as working with the City of Casey on some initiatives in that community. If I had my choice then I would prefer not, but accept it is something we probably can't be concerned about. We need the funds.

The old 'medical department' stitch up
Flying Cloud replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
On the other hand it would be interesting to find out on a club by club basis stats on injuries. Stats such as how many weeks are missed due to injury, how many of the list miss 1 or more weeks etc. I would be surprised if the stats aren't available somewhere, but I doubt they are available to the general punter. -

I think we should sack the bootstudders as well. The injuries are clearly related to improperly adjusted studs. -
Dangerfield almost best on ground!
Flying Cloud replied to Demon Stalwart's topic in Melbourne Demons
I said it on another thread, but was surprised that the impact was rated high impact, given that the doctor had let the player walk off the ground. If indeed there was a possibility it was high impact then the doctor should have called for the stretcher and neck brace. If he was my doctor I would sack him. -
Without doubt an attempt to get the Jack Trengove story of the back page. They have done thousands of tests and nothing found. Clearly urgent to be relaeased in time for the footy show last night.
-
While I hope noone is ever badly injuredf I hope a similar case occurs and a Collingwood player gets the same charge this week. Then the AFL may realise how stupid they are.

Trengove suspended for 2 ... now 3 weeks
Flying Cloud replied to Neita3000's topic in Melbourne Demons
Consequential Damages Would be very interested in Legal Opinion on this, but my reading of the decsion is it opens all players up to consequential damages. That is if you do anything at all on the field that is against the rules of the games, and the someone else on the field suffers as a result then you can be charged. So kicking the ball after a whistle, and someone tries to mark it and they fall and hit ther head then you are out. If you kick in danger and get someones head with the ball then you are out. If you kick-in and go over the line the line and then at the other end of the ground someone falls over and bangs there head then you are out. Note this should also aply to same team offences, so if any of the above result in your own team being injured then you should also be out. That is consequential damages. Biggest load of bull I have ever seen. I am sick of Melbourne being the test of the AFL,I hope like hell the Dees appeal. -

The incident was assessed as negligent, high contact and based on a medical report from the Crows, was also classified as high impact. Presume that the Crow's Doctor will resign as a result of this. Walking a player off the ground rather than getting a stretcher for a player who has received high impact to the head is clearly a risk to the players welfare. Doctor has failed in his duty of care. -
Brilliant. She is another one of Australia's greats who never let fame go to her head. I call on all Demonlanders to be there... With Horns on!
-
Only way I was going to see my Mum is if I went! She had a great Mother's Day. Go Dees.

No doubt he has been told he is still a key member of the leadership group, and to all intetnts and purposes he we will be playing the part of a VC. I reckon they will give it back about round 18 or so.

All's well. Apparently released after the ransom was paid. Source I am very glad I live in Australia.

Was interested to see how sparse the Hawk's members areas were when we played them last week. Seemed like it was only half full. Interesting given there 52,759 members. This compared with how full the same areas have been for the 2 home games we have had so far, where it has seemed to be 70 to 80% full. I would reckon we have more members who pay for a reserved seat and other higher premium memberships. Their site says 52,759 with 8,115 from Tasmania. Would love to see the break down by club but I bet the Melbourne memberships are of a higher value on average than many if not all of the other clubs.

Where he was picked in the draft is not his isue and nore should it be an issue for club supporters, bottom line is he is here until at least the end of this year. The questions should be 1. Is he playing well enough for a spot now 2. Should we develop him and 3. Will he come good. Plenty of contributors have expressed opinions on 2 and 3 but on 1..... - He is equal 19th for kicks and disposals - poor but not necesssarily enough to get dropped (coz you would need someone better to replace him!) - He is equal 15th for handpasses - a bare pass mark but again not necessrily bad enough to drop him - He is equal 11th for marks - a pass mark - He is equal 8th for tackles - better than a pass mark given the lack of pressure the whole team has applied in some quarters this season So by my reckoning he holds his spot (just) based on this years stats unless there is a couple of others seriously knocking on the door to get into the team (anyone got suggestions?). And that ignores the possibility that he he may well turn out to be a very good or even a great player who we should be giving game time to. By the way he is 27th on the list of games played.
