haha good point. I thought I had seen him in a few more times then that, maybe NAB matches? Still, have seen enough of him at casey/training to know he is not the answer. If you can't kick and hold basic marks, then you can't play. Dunn for one will be rucking against Hale and Roughead? Hardly dominate ruckman in their field and will only be doing maybe 20%. Better then whatever Sellar/Fitz brings to the table. So you are all telling me that Syliva is better in the 2s? What is he going to do there? Get confidence? What a load of [censored]. He will find his feet in the AFL, where, one he can hit a target (moreso then most of our players) and also take a good defender. We desperately need polish, and Syliva has it in spades and will provide it sooner rather then later. Hawks bully us every time we play them, and dropping one of our best built mid/forwards for a bennell or something.. you have got to be kidding me.

Some of us on demonland have memories like a goldfish. Fitz is not the answer, every time he plays for the rednblue he looks terrible and we all call for him to never play again. He is not up to scratch at all (yet). If Martin is not right to go, I would pinch hit Dunn in the ruck. The hawks don't have incredible rucks at the moment and Dunn could hurt them around the ground. Sylvia needs to stay, most dangerous player and needs to find form with us. For me: Outs: Sellar, Bate Ins: Watts, Petterd/Jurrah Lineup: FB: Garland - Frawley (Buddy) - Bartram (Rioli) HB: Rivers - MacDonald (Rough/Hale) - Tapscott C: Jones - Trengove (Sewell) - Morton HF: Sylvia - Watts - Howe FF: Davey - Clark - Petterd/Jurrah R: Jamar - Moloney - McKenzie (Mitchell) I: Dunn (ruck/forward) - Bail - Grimes S: Magner

I think we need to physically smash them. We are really going to miss Sylvia this weekend, he is normally the difference against the toigs. He normally has 30 and 5 goals. For me: Ins: Tapscott - Davey - Martin - Moloney Out: Bennell - Joel Mac - McKenzie - Sellar FB: Garland - Frawley - Bartram HB: Grimes - Rivers - Tapscott C: Jones - Trengove - Bail HF: Howe - Watts - Petterd FF: Davey - Clark - Green R: Jamar - Moloney - Magner I: Martin - Bate - McDonald S: Dunn Matchups: Reiwoldt - Frawley Bartram - Martin Vickery - Garland Cotchin - Jones Deledio - Petterd Newman - Howe Foley - Magner If we will all or most of those matchups.. We win.. Simple They are the only talented players for the tigers.. Gee I hope the boys are ready for this week, a win hasn't ever been more important then this week!

Demons probe sponsor Ben Polis's racist rants
GawnWithTheWind replied to M_9's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think Tom Scully was the rat that revealed the supposible racist comments about our club and also hacked Polis' facebook and posted this stuff. Assemble the torches and pitch forks people... -
We have already been on the front/back of the HS the last two days.. if he gets dropped.. I betcha we will be back there on Friday with some bs story about how Neeld thinks Davey is a rat and thats why he is playing in the magoos.
-
Option 1: - We actually have a crack. Neeld some how manages to rally the troops and gets everyone on the same page. They come out breathing fire, uping our tackling count to 20+ the opponent. We look to switch the ball more and use our run and kick long into our 50. We get up and about and go into half time close, maybe down by a goal or 2. Come out third and give the same effort and go down in a close one. Gathering some momentum to beat the tigers round 3. Option 2: - Same pathetic effort and players already looking to board the plane home at quarter time. No heart, no passion and no effort... 100+

Changes for next week vs West Coast
GawnWithTheWind replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
We need to pull back a little bit. Green and Davey should not be dropped.......... yet. They have both been asked to play a different role this year under a new coach with a new game plan. Lets give them more then 1 game to have a crack at it. Sellar needs to come in for size and MacDonald is too short for a key back and skills are too bad to be attacking. Blease didnt have a dip, so bring in someone who will. Couch? Morton (sigh)? Bennell (sigh)? Tapscott (fitness?)? For mine I: Sellar Tapscott O: MacDonald Blease Tapscott as sub. -
Changes for next week vs West Coast
GawnWithTheWind replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
My 22 for WCE Ins: McDonald - Sellar Outs: MacDonald - Blease FB: Garland (Nic Nat - Cox) - Frawley (Kennedy) - Bartram (Hill) HB: Bail (Hams) - Sellar (Q Lynch) - Rivers (Darling) C: Jones (Priddis) - Magner - Trengove HF: Howe (Waters) - Watts - Petterd (Hurn) FF: Davey - Clark - Green R: Jamar - Moloney - Grimes I: Martin - McDonald - Bate S: Tynan Howe - Needs to make Waters accountable and hurt him on the scoreboard Petterd - Needs to shut down his run and make him accountable Jones - Can go with Priddis and stop kick clearance work Martin and Jamar - Dont let Nic Nat jump at it. His palm work is 2nd to none. Critical to standing a chance. Petterd and Green to join in the mids rotation Davey - Thin ice Watts - Show us your speed and endurance - You need to work and work and work on this ground -
I honesty can't believe it

Garry Lyon said on MMM "there is always a good reason why you let a player go" Followed by spud "Yeah him ducking his head and shirking the contest like that must be one"

Melbourne v Brisbane - Pre-Match Discussion
GawnWithTheWind replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
So I would guess the actual first bounce line up would be: B: Joel Macdonald, James Frawley, Clint Bartram HB: Jack Grimes, Jared Rivers, Colin Garland C: Rohan Bail, Jack Trengove, Nathan Jones HF: Jack Watts, Stepn Martin , Jeremy Howe F: Aaron Davey, Mitch Clark, Brad Green FOLL: Mark Jamar, Brent Moloney, Jamer Magner I/C: Matthew Bate, Jordie McKenzie, Sam Blease S: Josh Tynan EMG: Lynden Dunn, Tom Couch, James Sellar I dont mind it. Forward line looks extremely dangerous. -
I dont think beating someone up is hard and brutal. Letting them know you are always there (which he sure does ) is more tough n brutal. Scarlett isn't a good example for this, he is as ruthless as any footballer out there. He will go straight through you, break your back and not lose a wink of sleep over it. I would love all MFC to be as ruthless and 'brutal' as him.
-
I actually had a good chuckle at that, thanks!

FB: Bartram - Frawley - Garland HB: Grimes - Rivers - Blease C: Jones - Trengove - Green HF: Tapscott - Watts - Howe FF: Petterd - Clark - Davey R: Jamar - Moloney - Magner I: Martin - Bail - Bate S: Tynan E: McKenzie - Bennell - Sellar FYI: I dont think Sellar has a matchup against Brissy, I think he will be brought into the team when they have 2 gorillas and we need some extra strength. Tynan deserves a game. His NAB cup was very good for a first year player.

What is happening with Tappy? Did he play in the VFL last week? Any chance for round 1?
-
Neeld wont use it as a motivator, but it sure will be. Loss is one of the most powerful motivators there is. My football club lost a player suddenly on a Tuesday last year, and after our team had been struggling (100+ losses) we took it to an underfeated team on their home ground where they haven't lost and dropped short by less than a goal. We were playing for him, even if it wasn't directly referenced. The players know how much Jim gave for this club, they will ALL be out to repay that round 1, round 2 and for years to come. Everytime they walk out and put their hand on whatever it takes, they will know why they are there. I expect 7 - 10
