Refreshing and reassuring, what more can I say!
-
I was at that game. From memory the Pies were playing in the finals the following week and we were towards the bottom of the ladder. Most enjoyable memories was seeing at least three Collingwood players sprawled on the ground mid way through the last quarter all at the same time. I think big Carl had directly contributed to two of them….. nice!

Based on how wrong I was in my previous post speculating the make up of numbers and the like, with great confidence I can say I haven’t got a clue. Not even prepared to give a off the cuff stab! Just hope that the majority of our mob that turn up are the loud passionate supporters.

I agree, I guarantee you that my numbers are well and truly stuffed! (I did say they were ‘of the cuff figures’) Apologies for wasting yours and most likely others time. in the meantime GO DEES!!! (Reckon I’ve got that last bit right)

That is a good point and would have an impact . But having said that, even if you allowed that 20% are (and I reckon I’m been extremely generous) that would leave around 40k members ( from both sides) trying to get the 40k seats on offer. Bottom line I guess is this. If you are a general public wanting to get a ticket, you are more likely than not, well and truly stuffed. in the meantime….. GO DEES!!

I am obviously missing something here. Using off the cuff figures, MCC reserved seats, say 30k, same for AFL members, 30k. That leaves 40k for club members and general public. (I’m ignoring corporate allocations so the number would I presume be even less) We have say 50k legitimate members (excluding pets, kids, etc). Say the Ferals have 60k. Even if you assume that only half will want tickets, that is 55k looking for tickets but only 40k available. Does this mean that some members (from both clubs) will miss out? I’ll be shocked if there are any tickets left for the general public come 3pm. This raises even more questions. Why will we only get 90k or thereabouts turning up as people are suggesting when the capacity is 100k? Surely the AFL section will be full. Likewise the MCC on this occasion. Given that it is a BIG final, why would (using my assumption above) so many members choose not to attend? (even if allowing that it is a Thursday night game) What am I missing here? The numbers just don’t seem to add up on so many different levels.

Ain’t going to rain. Why? Because. GO DEES!

What is interesting (read disappointing) is that when you look at the seating map that the AFL members reserve has actually expanded towards the Punt Rd goals. What I mean by this is where my reserved seat was for the home and away season (bay 15) is now allocated to the AFL. Disappointing for two reasons. More seats allocated to AFL members (presuming dominated by ferals) and less seats left for the general public to access. Everyone is equal, but the some that are less equal than others gradually seem over a period of time to become even less equal. Little by little.

What about N55?

How is this for irony. I cancelled a dental appointment this morning to fix a broken tooth so that I could get a ticket

At least you have hair…. I only have a white beard

All I know is this. Yesterday’s game against Sydney seems like it was ages ago. I also know that there is 10 more sleeps between now and next Thursday. That seems like such a long way away. It’s going to be torture counting down the days.

You are not alone, me neither

You know what I like most about our 2023 year? The way that pretty much most of our players, all that we do and have done thus far seems to have gone under most commentators and opposition spectators radars….. all year long. I love it. The Sydney game in such a hostile environment was absolutely fantastic. We are serious contenders. Can’t wait for September.

I posted this in another thread. I think it sits better here. It appears Melksham is done for the rest of the season but was instrumental in getting us to stay in the top 4 and the team now be considered a serious contender. If (when) we win the big one 23 players will receive a premiership medal, Melks won’t. I reckon the 23 players deserve and should get ‘player’ medals but I feel anyone who was named in the playing 23 throughout the season should also be given a separate ‘premiership team’ medal. (Could be given at the B&F night later on). Rationale being that it is a team game and they contributed throughout the season. This way people like Melksham would get due recognition for how they contributed throughout the year. (Similar for Jones back in 2022). This should be instigated and ‘minted’ by the AFL. Lastly, if this already occurs…. sorry.

Is it limited to one ticket per membership?

A message that the vast majority of Collingwood supporters simply don’t get… you may win some but you will lose more

Rumour is that magpie hunting season is about to begin, very, very soon. Be afraid, very afraid, the Demons are coming. GO DEES!!!!!

Watching the Port Richmond game. Considering turning the commentary down. Brereton is just so full of himself.
-
….but preferably at the G GO DEES
-
I think I recall last year we could purchase a number of tickets per membership for the first finals games (Sydney, Brisbane). I’m guessing that this time against Collingwood perhaps we can only get one ticket per member? (Logic being that there are more members than seats at the G). Does anyone know?

Hope Port get the job done convincingly tomorrow. We want week one at the G, our home ground against the Pies. Don’t want to travel. That way we can treat our last game like a pre finals season hit out. Try a few things but not give much away. Win lose or draw, it won’t matter. The real season starts in a fortnight. I’d like to think that we are serious contenders. GO DEES!!!
