Sunday footy show - Who is the greatest Demon of all time?
And on that âludicrousâ theme, the game has changed so much over the decades and even in recent years. Football that was played in the sixties (that is as far back I can go) is almost a totally different game to what is played today. And then to try and nominate (and objectively justify) the best of all time!âŠâŠ.good luck

Changes to âHolding the Ballâ Rule
The other elephant in the room is the handball rule. Years ago a handball was a handball and âflick passesâ were actually deemed a throw. Bemusing how the interpretation has been allowed to change over the years. (Guessing the hand ball rule has actually not changed, but happy to be corrected). Nowadays there is a very fine line between what is a handball and what is a throw. I actually feel for the umpires on this one. But I wonât let them off the hook completely. As we all know some players get targeted and pinged, others always seem to get the benefit of the doubt.

PODCAST: Rd 11 vs St. Kilda
Seems there are quite a few posters that have concerns with Petty. Sure, he may not be firing on all cylinders just yet, but I reckon he still has a presence out on the ground when he plays. I think he had a lot of potential upside and if he gets more confidence and takes more big grabs he may be a very important cog in our forward structure come September. I would definitely persist with him in coming games. What are your thoughts?

And perhaps more importantly he walks the talk in demonstrating team values and culture. He truly leads in this space and everyone else follows. Loved the way he handled Langdon âweek offâ. Look after everyone and then everyone will look after you. Totally aware that quite a few here have different opinions on Goody. I hope he stays on board for a very, very long time.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs St. Kilda
An obvious improvement from last week. Good but not great but thatâs okay. Sure, the Aintâs didnât perform well but that is life. We got the four points. That was important. More importantly I feel that there is a lot of potential upside to what we can do over the later half of the season. Donât want to peak too early. Keep the opposition guessing. Just need to try and get enough wins to be in the top four come finals (and fingers crossed for injuries). And thenâŠ. bring it on!

Just gotta win!

NON-MFC: Round 11
A mate of mine got COVID so he gave me his ticket for the Peptides v Tigers. Should be a good experience. What I am even more excited about is getting home after the game and watching the fourth losing presser in a row by Scott. Bet he doesnât mention GWS once.

NON-MFC: Round 11
Umpire #15 and umpire #22 (was not umpiring the Feral / Freo game) in my opinion are the two stand outs for incompetence. I get the impression from previous posters that umpire 22 does Melbourne no favours but I reckon #15 might just pip him at the post. He has a history of making controversial decisions late in games. Poor umpiring decisions have certainly impacted a few games this year. (but if it cost the Ferals a victory tonight, can it be all that bad?)đ

NON-MFC: Round 10
What I noted in his last three losing press conferences was that he never mentioned the opposition team by name, not even once! (In contrast the opposition coaches all made âpositiveâ mentions of Geelong) The only exception to this being that he named one opposition player (Horne Francis). I oh so hope that GWS get the job done next weekend. Imagine, four losses in a row. Beautiful đ€

Max Gawn.... A giant of a gentleman and bloody good bloke
Max âPharlapâ Gawn. Heâs that good that weâll claim him as one of our own.

Umpiring (Demonland in meltdown)
As poor as the technology is to assist goal adjudications, I at least had some confidence in the cameras in the goal posts to determine if the ball was touched before it crossed the line. Centimetre perfect it seemed âŠ.. until I was watching Footscray- Richmond game. A review was called for and rightly so, it was a line ball. From one goal post camera it showed the ball had clearly crossed the line before it was touched. The other goal post camera clearly showed the ball was touched before it crossed the line. The decision was âumpireâs call, insufficient evidence to make a definitive callâ (or words to that effect) More accurately- The decision should have been âumpireâs call, conflicting evidence provided by cameras in the goal postsâ! Canât even get the goal camera technology sorted!

What do you do following a loss?
I have an unhealthy attachment to footy so I struggle big time and for quite a while. The only thing that brings relief is when we notch up a win

NON-MFC: Round 09
Only a small snippet of Scottâs presser on channel 7. . No mention of Port at all (did acknowledge Horne Francis). In other words, another true to form press conference. I love watching sore losers.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton
I guess it depends where you sit. Last year I was tormented as to who I would barrack for had Collingwood and Carlton played off in the GF. (Iâve despised both sides all my life). Easy decision after I attended the two final games that we played against both sides. The Feral fans were putrid (eg chanting Collingwood whilst Brayshaw was knocked out unconscious). Carlton in comparison were bearable. Back to my response to your post. Carlton fans that were in my vicinity (in last yearâs final and the game the other day and even on the train ride home) seemed like reasonable people when compared to the Ferals. Maybe I was just lucky.

PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Just watched Goodyâs press conference. I think we are incredibly fortunate to have a bloke like him on board. His values permeates right through the club. You can see and feel the respect the players have for him. The Caleb Windsor interview is a good example. It appears that the inner sanctum of the club (footy department right through to the playing squad) have huge buy in to the clubâs (Goodyâs) value system. I understand that some people arenât that wrapped in him. All good, people are allowed to think differently. I hope he hangs around for a very long time.

They ARE starting to respect us!
I am both a dinosaur and somewhat lazy. Loved having access to a thread that collates radio commentary / interviews dealing with Melbourne. Thanksđ
