With respect I beg to differ in that this years Draft is not as strong as next years so why would you not hold what you have for 2023 Yr. ? when add to this the fact that we have already drafted well in 2022 for a replacement for Jackson plus Hunter and Schache not to mention the improvement in JVR.and others. I just feel our desperation to upgrade in 2022 may backfire on us in 2023 strong Draft.

David-Demon replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
We should go after Ratts now and have him as understudy to Choco Williams and even coach Casey.- 104 replies

THE TRADING CHRONICLES 2022 by The Oracle
David-Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was a fan of Francis and MFC were into him as a target when he was recruited. -
My question then is: Who comes first; the Club ( meaning the history and the greater Game) or a player who has faulted in his playing days over and over again. ? Honestly it is a no brainer in that the Club is greater than the individual player and by that I am saying he should be a reliable cog in the wheel. So, yes - terms of a contact should encompass both the on field ability, the term and the conditions of his employment.

I cannot see what Freo could offer us as compensation.
-
Well let's wait and see. Tomlinson will be the first of my "selection" to get traded. Watch this space.
-
You forgot about our 2022 trades and recruits in Pendelbury, Lachie Neale, Cripps, Andrew Brayshaw and Touk Miller...
-
Your comments are from the heart and now is the time to rid us of the "older" players who are considered - "fringe" in the likes of Melks, J Smith and D Smith, Rosman, Baker and consider uptrading as Richmond did 2 years ago for more grunt in the Team. I believe we have players who would be considered by other Clubs. Let's go to the Trade with an open mind and get quality to improve our base.

O.K 110% then.
-
List changes: Retirements: Ben Brown Mitch Brown. Melks Hibberd Dump: Rosman, Spargo, Jackson, (of his own free wil) Tomlinson, D Snith and J Snith.

Look I can see min changes but Dunstan could well be in the mix.

True, but we Posters do not like imposters.

When they named Hawkins as Captain I just switched off the Telly. Give me a break. A Captain should be a leader of men. Hawkins is far from that. Makes me sick.

TMac needs solid match practice before any consideration as to a Finals berth. He would need to be BOG in the VFL matches he plays to get any consideration. Minimal changes next game with Salem an IN: (if fully fit) The other consideration is that if we play in Sydney, which is a possibility, on a smaller ground consideration will surely be given to smaller running type players.
-
Unfortunately we are now third on the ladder not second with the Swans playing St Kilda in the last game of the year and of course we play Brisbane at their home Ground. To get to second place we would need to win by more points that Sydney beat St Kilda by to edge to that position. Frankly both the Demons and The Swans will be fighting not only for wins but percentage points as well as the gap is slight between us and the Swans.

Either way Goody is not one for making wholesale changes especially after a gutsy win. I cannot see Spargs or "the Bird" being dropped but one way or another Harmes will come in and as I see it Bowey is a possibility - but again, at whose expense.
-
Lok, I would consider bringing back Norm Smith and play him for 90 mins plus time on at both CHF and FF. We would win every game then I am sure.
-
Definite changes V Carlton:- Had a word to Goddy last night in my dreams and he agrees... OUT:- Neal-Bullen, Hunt, Hibberd. - Oh by the way Melks out as well. IN:- Bowey, JVR, Harmes. Chandler. JVR to CHF, Bowey HB and Salem to HF, Harmes - anywhere you like. Oh hell, bring in the 18 from Casey, they know how to win.

Yes, silliest thread ever.

𝗠𝗮𝘅 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻. From the mouth of Maxy Gawnlow. "Luke's a talent and he's got every right, as every player does, to look at any offer that's coming his way, I'm pretty confident he's going to be a Melbourne player still and I know that's very far from what the consensus is out in the media." So much for all that banter on Fox Friday night. Amen
