  1. Edit post doesn't appear to work in IE8, when I click the Save Changes button nothing happens, same when I click the Use Full Editor button.
  2. Sounds promising http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=855805
  3. Agreed, Cameron has only been there one year - he'll stay at Hawthorn if he doesn't get a senior job.
  4. Senior Coach: Mark Neeld Forward Line Coach: Malcolm Blight Midfield Coach: Leigh Matthews Back line Coach: Mick Malthouse Development Coach: Bomber Thompson Innovations Coach: Paul Roos General Manager, List Managment: Terry "the list manager" Wallace General Manager, Football Operations: Neil Balme
  5. Can someone please show me a reference to the "tender"? I can't find one.
  6. There's some mind boggling ideas on here!
  7. Of course he needs to start immediately - we've got list management and trade period looming straight after the GF. We've got the Scully picks and the GWS U17 draft so it's even more intense than ever. [censored] Collingwood and the donkey they rode in on.
  8. I don't see why it's so complicated - negotiate with GWS for a U17 draft pick just like any other trade involving draft picks. Something like: MFC "We'll give you a Scully compo pick for U17 pick 1" GWS "Gold Coast has offered us ND pick 4, that's a better offer can you top it? We could give you U17 pick 2 for one Scully compo pick" MFC "OK, we really want pick 1, we'll give you both Scully picks" GWS "Done, looks like GC gets pick 2"
  9. I don't read it that way. What happens on the 17th at 2:10 is the picks in the draft. The trading for those oicks happens in the trade period. In the week in between the clubs who have acquired the picks have the opportunity to decide who they want to select. That's the way - read it - happy to be advised otherwise.
  10. as posted above the "tender process" is just a rumour at the present time - one I have great doubts about
  11. What's this "tender process" and where has that come from? I can't find a reference to it and would be pleased to see one - I have heard about it on the grapevine but that's all. It's not clear that the GWS zone incentive trading is at the END of the trade period from that info - it could be an integral part of it and that would make sense. The u17 mini draft picks are just other tradable commodities. That the actual picks are a week later is OK, gives time for the dust to settle, the bid winners to work out exactly who they'll take and the AFL to have another media event in October to squash racing, cricket, soccer and any other competotor off the back page of the Sun.
  12. Obviously GWS have the choice!!!! I'm asking how the bidding works. From the other thread: Monday October 10 - Monday October 17 (2pm) - AFL exchange period, including GWS zone incentive trading rules Thursday October 13 (2pm) - GWS nomination deadline of uncontracted players. Monday October 17 (2.10pm) - GWS zone incentive selections.
  13. Here's a link to the mini draft process: http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default.aspx?newsid=117004 It's not clear to me how the "bidding" for the picks works - is it by negotiation in the trade period just like other trades or is there some sort of "tender" process where clubs make a sealed bid (I've heard this but unconfirmed). The former would appear far better, the latter may not achieve the highest price. The article talks of a "bidding war" so it seems like it will be an an open auction at least. Definitive links would be appreciated.
  14. Agree - no-one here would have the faintest idea about the relative merits of the assistants on offer. If we go for an inexperienced coach it would be essential to get an experienced mentor from outside the club on board to help a la Mark Thompson at Essendon. There seems to be some competition for Craig, he was linked with Richmond and Brisbane in yesterday's paper and I can't see anything that makes us more attractive than either of those options. Where does it leave Chris Connolly? Do we need/can we afford Director of Coaching and Football Manager? Collingwood seems to think they do but MM seems unhappy with the definition of his role there - I'd be keen to read the respective JDs. I was on the get Ross Lyon bangwagon and I've been on the MM bandwagon too. But it's just madness to speculate - I can see that an assistant with experienced help could be just as good. As pointed out elsewhere the majority of recent premierships have been won by first time coaches - Thompson, Clarkson, Williams, Worsfold, Roos v Malthouse, Matthews. I'm off all bandwagons and am trusting our panel to make the right decision - oh my gawd!!!!
  15. 2008 Bailey - Essendon, 1998 Daniher - Essendon, 1993 Balme - Richmond, 1986 Northey - Richmond, we haven't had a coach from "within the fabric" since Barassi left at the end of 1985 - that's 4 coaches over 26 seasons. Why do you persist with the bullsh1t "class warfare".
  16. Didn't look like that last Saturday night.
  17. Don't think it matters either way. If he wins this year he'll be on 4 flags with coaching greats Reynolds, Parkin, Matthews, Barassi, Hafey, Sheedy, Jeans - he'd love to go one ahead of that bunch. Only McHale (7), Smith (6), Hughes (5) and Worrall (5) ahead of him.
  18. If MFC are offering him $5M x 5 years it would be a good time to negotiate with the Saints. I believe his position would be less strong when we've hired a coach that's not him.
  19. Sure GWS get a great deal - that's the way the AFL structured the rules. But we get O'Meara for Scully - that's far more important than worrying about GWS.
  20. Now that would start to hurt. Bob is on record suggesting the 2 compo picks + pick 12, that's where I start to get a bit dizzy.
