I'd be surprised if any of the players feel as bitterly towards Scully as we supporters do. Maybe he didn't get along with some players, maybe some will take the "culture" rejection personally, but I expect handshakes and smiles at the end of the match.

Hang on a minute Doctor, who can that be?

after the exertions of the bye?

I agree, Cale has improved this year and his article emphasised the reasons why. Neeld and co are working with him and it's a worthwhile exercise.

Well he did post. Apparently Tom Couch should be playing for MFC.

I'll pay good money to revive Demonology if that will be avoided.

I hope not

It would be great if Naitanui played for us, he's a marketing dream and he can play. I think Buddy has been really great for Hawthorn in this way. As someone posted - hopefuly Liam can get back on the park and firing and we can have our own excitement machine back. It's not just their playing impact it's their impact on supporters and potential younger supporters.

He's been great back (except occasionally when outmarkedby 200cm ruck/fwds) but I like the idea of him forward. He can take a genuine contested mark and can compete with a couple in the air. He complements Clark better than anyone else on our list in this role at present and will either stop 2 or 3 flying against Clark or be one-out himself. He's more of a marking threat than Garland. We've probably got enough KPB options (Frawley, Sellar/Martin, McDonald, Watts, Garland) to allow him to move forward as Cook develops at Casey.

The further it's gone one the more amazed I'll be if he can learn to mark well enough to pose any sort of forward threat. Given up on him as KPF (and Watts too) - would love to be proven wrong in either case. IMO his only role is KPB in competition with Sellar to take the gorillas/2nd rucks.

Looks like Col didn't get cited for his hit on Tom Young in the marking contest - I'll take the nil-all draw.

Morton was pretty good and gets involved. He made some creative play in heavy traffic and he also made some skill errors. In this instance he broke a team rule, that's more important than the associated skill error.

I don't care what they think, I only care what I think. I want hard and fair.

I agree with Jaded, Ben and others that he's being played in a defensive forward role to teach accountability and also because his limited pre-season restricts him in other roles. I don't agree with Jaded that he doesn't have attributes that Neeld values. He's an impact player that can make a difference with limited possessions, he has a solid body type and when fit he's very competitive in the air for his size, if these attributes can be harnessed then he has got significant value. I'm willing to give him the entire season to get his head around what is required. Because he's coming off a badly interrupted pre-season he may not be able to execute all of his capability this year but the coaching staff will be able to tell if he can do what they require. If he doesn't get actively shopped for trade then I'll trust that they think they can get the best out of him. We've made some big changes - players like Sylvia, Moloney, Davey who've played another way for a long time need to be given sufficient opportnity to adapt. Not all will.

The hit to Fasolo and pushing Maxwell into the bench were not brave acts - I can do without it. The bump on Elliot was good.
-
No it was marking contest where he went into Tom Young's (?) ribs with his forearm - similar to Tapscott.

Tapscott and Sylvia surely suspended.
