WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JORDAN LEWIS
old55 replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm unensthused by Lewis. -
Calesque!
-
B: OMac TMac Frost HB: Salem, Lumumba, Melksham, Michie, Vince, Hunt, Jetta, White, Wagner, Harmes, Smith, Hibberd, Tuohy F: Hogan R: Gawn
-
GWS have been negotiating trades for Marchbank, Pickett, Hoskin-Elliot, Steele, Stewart, Ahern, Barrett - I don't think list spots is going to be an issue,
-
That leaves Brisbane with pick 21 then a gap to pick 78? And they have to get their Frost deal done. Does not look promising for getting any meaningful Dunn deal dunn.
-
GWS want a pick before Academy bids. They get to pick a player at 3 and use later picks 15, 16 on Academy players instead of burning 7.
-
Gubby Allan decision more likely
-
Let's see what the compo given is. Mayne 4 * $450k - band 3 pick 23 very fair IMO, band 2 at a stretch Wells 3 * $600k - band 3 pick 31 again very fair IMO, band 2 at a stretch Vickery 2 * $500k - band 4 pick 38ish very fair IMO, band 3 at a stretch
-
I think our 2017 1st should definitely be in play, we should be looking for deals every year with the future 1st to stay ahead of the curve.
-
I think it's hard to judge until the trade period is complete and the draw is released.
-
Nannies and cry-babies
-
IMO nowhere in that article Taylor implies our 1st pick will be live in the draft. Please quote where you think he says this.
-
Scott Thompson - Would we welcome him back?

One year deal at Crows: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-07/thompson-to-go-round-again-after-signing-oneyear-deal -
Hawks offer a 2 year deal - that's going to lower the compo. Likely to be 4th or 5th band - around 38 or 44ish. Tigers find out compo before deciding whether to match or not. They might match to try to force a better trade but the Hawks have to get the O'Meara and Mitchell deals done. Exciting times!

60% - should still get you into ACU.

Tippett played some great footy before he was injured and some terrible footy when he came back. I read on BF (yes I know) that he was the focus of some post-GF discontent in the Swans rooms because he had moved on too quickly, so it may not be a rose garden there. He's a tough one for the Swans. He's got 2 more years on big $s (800k?) and he turns 30 in May. To get him to move a WA club would need to offer him 2 more years i.e 4 years, or why move across the country?
-
More likely they manipulated the "formula" to make sure we got pick 3 instead of pick 18 after they found they couldn't give us a PP for "not tanking". Then they decided they better amend and publish the formula to cover future dealings. The whole thrust of this thread is that MFC has been stiffed- we haven't, we've had our share of benefits of AFL manipulation.
-
Yes I'm sure the AFL made sure he did. Free agency open: Wells, Vickery, Mayne and others set to find new homes Wells, 31, is expected to depart North Melbourne after 14 seasons to join Collingwood on a three-year deal worth up to $600,000 a season, while the Magpies are also set to snare Fremantle forward Mayne on a four-year deal understood to be worth more than $500,000 a season.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/hawthorn/james-frawley-joins-hawthorn-as-a-free-agent-melbourne-receives-pick-3-as-compensation/news-story/fcdb69c6666a5fbb241dac67ab103b13 A handful of clubs believed Frawley’s Hawks contract — believed to be worth $2.2 million across four years — could only net the Demons an end-of-first-round selection.
-
I've seen 4 x $450k speculated for the Mayne contract and Vickery's is 3 years. The point is that we have no real idea.
-
The injustice! MFC receive a 1st rounder at 3 for Frawley but then the AFL change the rules (that weren't public anyway) so that Richmond won't receive one for Vickery and Fremantle won't receive one for Mayne this year. The AFL manipulates the rules to suit their outcomes, but we have not been short-changed.
-
What exactly was Frawley's contract and the formula Red? How can you be sure the AFL didn't manipulate that?
-
I think Hogan, Weideman, Watts, Fwd-Ruck is too top heavy and costs us a mid in the rotation. Ultimately Weed or Weed and Watts need to share the Fwd-Ruck duties but I agree that's a few years off for Weed. In the meantime it's a conundrum - Max goes down Jordan Roughead style in a final and we lose because there's no Tom Boyd.
-
Are Newton and Max King confirmed delisted?
