  1. I didn't say anything about Jones' or Viney's performance. I just said that it is very important.
  2. Out-dated and naive view of the captain's role. The captain is the public face of the playing group for members and sponsors. Media performance is a key factor - we're trying to increase our membership by attracting new and churning members and we trying to promote our existing sponsors and attract a back of jumper sponsor. If you think the captain's media performance is meaningless in this then you are sadly mistaken. If you think membership and sponsorship has no relation to footballing result then you are further mistaken.
  3. Some very good reports from despicable, Dee Spencer and Brfe, apologies to others who also add value that I've missed. The only point I'll add is my biggest take away was Jordan Lewis. He plays at another level that our players need to aspire to. He always sees the next play before he gets the ball and is able to perfectly execute the first option because he already knows what is is. He knows where all his team mates are and is able to move the ball so quickly with precision. Our other good players are intent on winning the ball and then seeking the option. For Lewis it's all one seamless action. This happened repeatedly and stood out to me. I think he'll help transform our ball movement playing a more outside role than he did a Hawthorn.
  4. Here's the refined plan: Season over after 17 matches for 13th to 18th For top 12 teams play groups:A: 1,4,5,8,9,12B: 2,3,6,7,10,11Retain points and percentage from the first 17 games, all ladder positions open and decided in the standard way. This: provides more interesting and meaningful contests between better quality sides in the last 5 rounds keeps all ladder position options open provides a good contest for positions in the lower half of the 12 leading up to the completion of the first 17 rounds. gets rid of 15 largely dud games prevents having to come up with some contrived incentive for the bottom 6 repeat games at the opposite venue to the first one is simple to understand
  5. A good suggestion on BigFooty is that after 17 rounds the season is done for 13th-18th and the 17-5 only applies for 1-6 and 7-12. That loses 15 largely dud matches and avoids trying to come up with some contrived incentive for the bottom 6. Draft order is as-is from last up. Some variation on 1-6 and 7-12 grouping could be played instead e.g. groups of 1,3,5,7,9,11 and 2,4,6,8,10,12 and ladder positions all open and settled as per usual.
  6. FWIW 2016 ladderR18 (17 games) - R2301 Haw - Syd 02 GWS - Gee 03 Syd - Haw 04 Gee - GWS 05 WCE - Ade 06 Ade - WCE07 WB - WB08 Nth - Nth09 StK - StK10 PA - PA11 Mel - Mel12 Col - Col13 Ric - Ric 14 Car - Car 15 GCS - GCS 16 Fre - Fre 17 Bri - Bri 18 Ess - Ess I do realise that the 1st 18 rounds (17 games) did not consist of each team playing each other team once, but over the 5 remaining rounds... Each set of 6 was unchanged Top 4 set remained the same Top 8 set remained the same Teams from 7th to 18th remained in exactly the same position
  7. Quite frankly he needs to do something. The Swans have choked on the big day twice now and Hannebery along with Parker has under-performed on both occasions.
  8. Agreed great work - another update is Mitch White has played 3 games
  9. Tiger analysis never fails to disappoint. You could seek professional counselling

    BenKen

Benken is very good depth - shows how far we've come. He's hard at it and can give something at the top level. I ' m very bullish about our prospects.
  11. Murphy, cup - pass the bucket.

    BenKen - doesn't fall over
  13. Fantastic stuff thx 666
  14. Alves, Flower, A.Johnson, Jakovich, Schwarz, Neitz - that's as far as I can get without going to another whole class - hoping to fill the last 4 spots with current players.
  15. Green falls over, blue gets ball.
  16. And I think kicking is harder on the body so they want to limit the repetitions. I recall counting and limiting kicks at training was a huge thing when OP was a big problem a few years back but they seem to have relaxed that these days.
  17. Trent Cotchin would be right up there with smallest gap I reckon.
  18. That would be interesting to see. Maybe a @Six6Six sequence mission?
  19. That's what I initially thought about the Watts v Hogan comparison but I think people have raised a lot of good points.
  20. Cheers, I agree that Hogan has flawed technique and FWIW I don't rate Jones' kicking although he has improved. Jones' right arm is also bent, like Hogan's whereas Watts' is straight but it does look like Jones lets go of the ball later than Hogan - so guides it more as you say (I changed my comments here after further analysis) In relation to Dee Spencer's analysis of the ball in relation to the plant foot. Jones' ball drop is not ahead of his plant foot either (like Hogan, unlike Watts) and he is leaning back even more than Hogan. The other noticeable difference to me is the angle of the ball. Both Watts and Hogan have the top of the ball ahead of the bottom but Jones has the reverse. Very interesting stuff!
  21. I'm interested to hear analysis of Nathan Jones' action in pic #23 in your set? Particularly in comparison to Watts and Hogan.
  22. I don't see any significant difference between the two, in fact these images could be part of the same sequence.
  23. Fun reading here:
  24. Soft call on an easy target - like your persecution of Chris Dawes. It's too easy to say that for various reasons they are going to struggle to make it. If you want to make valuable commentary on players' future prospects then stick your neck out on genuinely challenging calls like Frost, VDB, Harmes, Wagner etc.
