that bloke Lewis has made a career out of it. There's a fine line between pleasure and pain.

THE DROUGHT IS OVER by George on the Outer - POST MATCH DISCUSSION
old55 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
And I suspect Goodwin gave Bernie 5 and Oliver 4 and Richo gave Oliver 5 and Bernie 0. If you listen to Goodwin's post match he was very complimentary of Bernie. -
That's not true - if you bother to read the reviews there's varying degrees of praise. Try Oscar v Hulett and ANB v Kennedy
-
Heartbeat 2017 Goodwin says: Oscar just oozes leadership with the way he goes about his business on a day-to-day basis, which is really exciting. He prepares extremely well and he trains to a high level every session. For a player of his age to be able to play that way has been really exciting for the club. Goodwin says: Alex has had a fantastic pre-season. His last pre-season, he probably drifted through the summer and it affected his season. But this pre-season he came with real purpose and focus. He's changed his body shape and is training to a really high level. Alex plays the game the way we'd like it to be played, so we see an exciting year ahead for him.

TMac was great on Saturday as usual but the mismatch the Saints were able to generate twice against our zone for goals was Gresham v TMac ground balls. It's gonna happen.

THE DROUGHT IS OVER by George on the Outer - POST MATCH DISCUSSION

1-2 weeks http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-03-27/riewoldt-may-miss-only-one-week-after-knee-scare -
Here's my tip - no direct match ups
-
Weideman has to play if we're not going with Spencer and it makes sense especially at Etihad. Otherwise Hogan is the only tall contested target and that's just not viable, particularly when we also want to use him up the ground on acassion. In the long run Weed will take the 2nd ruck duties too but one step at a time. Hannan seems to be a replacement for VDB IMO which also makes sense.
-
I resemble that remark I love what Nev brings in consistency, one-on-one against dangerous small fwds like Betts and Wingard, attack on the contest and reliable sort kicking and I'm happy to see him in the team. But he was conspicuous in his absence in the JLT, he didn't go to Perth when he was ready to play. Maybe he's experienced enough not to need AFL trials. He does have limitations and it will be fascinating to follow his progress this year. He's not a counter-attacking back and therefore plays closer to the defensive goal in the zone where it's likely that he'll get exposed to height mis-matches. It happened last year to comical effect. Hunt, Melksham, Vince, J.Smith, Hibberd have the height to make a marking contest with tall forwards they may find themselves matched with, Jetta doesn't. I hope he has a great year.

Credit to Dee Spencer for calling Hannan early

I don't have the mag with me so I can't exactly quote it but in essence Goodwin said he'd had a great pre-season and really plays the game the way we want it to be played. I think he's a bit vanilla too but I'm just trying to read the tea leaves.
-
Have you read Goodwin's review in the mag that was distribute to members last week? It definitely does not read that way.
-
A big surprise would be someone who didn't play JLT like Hannan. If Tyson's out because "he's underdone", then it would be a surprise to see Kent who has had even less exposure. Smith hardly a surprise with the injuries we have back there to medium talls. Reading Goodwin's player reviews I think he likes ANB's pre-season and he may play ahead of others.
-
Joel Smith hardly a surprise after Garland went down, with Hibberd and Wagner already unavailable. Congrats and good luck to Joel.
-
Tyson's underdone but Pedersen is straight in with no JLT?
-
agree with almost all that 22 except only one or Weed or Spencer will play and one of Harmes and ANB will come in
-
Agree with this - we turned it over going into our forward line far too much - we've got to fix this on Saturday. Hunt played very well but he turned it over - a bit like JJ's GF game. Tyson, Vince, even Lewis as other have observed - all turned it over. Goodwin commented on our lack of fwd 50 pressure. There's no way Spencer AND Weed will play versus the Saints IMO and that should help us with forward pressure, in theory Spencer should be OK with this because despite common opinion he's not slow, the main issue is he's not agile, there's certainly no issue with his commitment and aggression, that's why I wouldn't be surprised to see him play. Garlett can help in this area - if he's switched on.
-
14-50mm of rain forecast in the next 48 hours too - I imagine that's not going to help them with their turf preparations.
-
They put Tyson straight in for the WC game but not Jetta. I think there's a message there.
-
Nope
-
Would be a mistake IMO. I like Kent and he's in my 22 but only when 100% fit.
-
Link to Misson comments please. He's not mentioned in the latest Misson interview re this weekend's Casey practice match. He did play in last week's Casey intraclub when MFC played in Perth so he was availablr then.
-
Based on JLT and expected Casey line up tomorrow. B: melksham omac garland/j.smith Hb: hunt tmac vince R: gawn jones viney C: lewis oliver salem Hf: petracca hogan bugg F: garlett watts weed/spencer I: tyson brayshaw stretch harmes/anb I'll be amazed if anyone outside that 25 plays (assuming no further injuries)
-
20 played all 3 JLT. I see 4 in and 2 out. Agree Tyson, Garlett and Watts have the opportunity to cement their spots. Either J.Smth or Garland also in. One of Spencer or Weed plays and one out, the MC already has the info for that decision. Probably ANB out too, or maybe Harmes.
