And hair apparently, although that hasn't happened to me.
-
Why? and no he isn't Langdon or Gus but he is clearly the 3rd winger in the same way Petty was the replacement for Tomlinson.
-
Anyone know Kye's heritage?

The way things have been with the reduction in departments and less opportunity for players to show their wares it would be fabulous to have inside info. Has smokey written all over it.

Agree Rusty, it's clear to me he is next in line. I was at the ground for the Sydney game and he was one of the best. Had 26 disposals, kicked a goal and patrolled up and down his wing. He has plenty of pace and is good in the air. I commented to a mate at the time that he clearly knows the role and the game plan and how to execute it and is a great plug and play option. His one other outing this year produced the following; Kicks 12 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 Handballs 3 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 Marks 5 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 Goals 0 Tackles 4 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 Clearances 2 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 Goal Assists 0 Inside 50s 6 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 Rebound 50s 1 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 Supercoach 67 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 AFL Fantasy 73 v North Melbourne, 2nd May 2021 People need to remember it's a specialist role and while I like the future of Rosman he is a developing prospect, not a ready to go winger. The other thing to remember is Brisbane like to use the flanks/wings and have pace through there.

Sorry Binman but if you're going to quote footywire to support your argument, I can do the same to support Weid. Your correct Naughton is miles ahead at 21yr 6mth he has played 64 games. Sadly, Weid has played just 47. If we can see him play the rest of the season we might be pleasantly surprised.
-
Kudos Binman, I've loved reading your insightful analysis together with the great input from AF, Engorged, Axis and others. You posed the question about using Harmes to shut a Dogs midfielder down and sure enough that's what happened. I think there have been a number of times when a player has been set a role/ challenge to quell the influence of a dangerous oppo player eg, Hibberds job on Dusty. Likewise the Swans had a plan to control Fritsch and it worked. Regarding that, I would imagine it would be the first time he had received that much attention. I've been wondering how much effort is going into combating the tactic when it happens to us? One thing I saw against the Dogs was Fritsch at times being well up the ground and even in the backpocket in support of the defence. Would that be part of his "learning" to break a tag and to also remind him he can make other contributions beside Goals? As I've written this I've also realised that all the small forwards have been doing this a lot more than I've ever seen previously. We move on to another challenge this week. A team that plays a completely different style to the Dogs, dare I say closer to ours. What will we change, if anything and will we send someone to quell Zorko? It will be fascinating to watch and hope someone will do another in-depth analysis.

In a recent interview he said he didn't like how much attention his hair had been getting and thought he would have to change it. So I guess everyone will be able to have another opinion.

What they're saying down at Barkly Street

Quite correct BBO and supported by the last quote; "Dees are a Max Gawn injury away from being average again but ride the wave while it’s lasts. I don’t expect long term success out of Melbourne myself but time will tell. This is there year if it happens." -
Beer, and to quote a great mate "there's nothing beer can't do!"

My thanks go out to Hell Bent, I spent about 40mins reading through this thread to see if anyone else had raised this (I need to get a life). The Fox vision doesn't show it but some of the other vision I've seen shows the Adelaide player clearly pushing Coz in the back with both hands. Even with the Fox front on vision you can see the Adelaide player is caught behind and cannot spoil and clearly propels Cozzie forward while he is attempting the mark. There is no subjectivity, in the same way as an earlier free was payed against Lever (correctly). If you go back a couple of minutes (before the Tex goal) you will also see Cozzie apply a perfect holding the ball tackle near the boundary line. This was also called play on and I commented to Mrs DW at the time that I wouldn't expect us to receive any free kicks in the final minutes. How often do we here the commentators say "the Umpires have clearly put the whistle away" in the closing minutes of a game and this is often applauded but I firmly believe it is a blight on the game. IMO you cannot pick and chose when to apply the laws of the game. What we are seeing at the moment is confusing for everyone. It's one thing to have your view obscured or to be uncertain due to the pace but it is ridiculous to ignore a clear breach of the laws. -
Does MFC membership still entitle free entry?

So my take from this is; around 30% of teams who achieve this go on to win the flag! If you told me at the start of the season we have a 30% chance of winning the Cup at this stage, I would be a bit skeptical.
-
This entire thread is full of speculation and opinion .... yes, yes, it's a footy forum. I was asked the other day, " what's happening at Melbourne?" Why this turnaround?" My reply; " it's a holistic thing ". Take all the points made previously, throw in the Burgess factor, the return to longer quarters and the rule changes and we have an 8 - 0 start to the season. "GO DEES!"

Caroline Wilson - Where has she gone?

Yes, but still a thug -
Sorry Dazzle but I've seen Harmes beaten/ off the pace but I think it's very disrespectful to call him selfish and lazy. I don't think that's in his DNA.

Ok, sound argument to a point. The problem I have is associated with equating form Vs a Nth Melb 2nd team. Your argument appears to be; Sparrow is a better inside mid than Brayshaw based on performance against the Nth Melb 2nds. I'm not convinced. Therefore on what I observed of Baker vs Nth Melbourne (first selections) it is a sum thing. Put another way; Brayshaw Mid plus Baker Wing vs Nth Melb ones is not the same as Brayshaw Wing Vs Nth Melb ones and Sparrow Mid vs Nth Melb twos. Too me it's like one combo gives you 8 out of 10 and the other gives 7 out of 10. Perhaps I'm not being clear enough. I'll try another way. Is Sparrow a better inside mid than Brayshaw? Is Sparrow a better wing than Baker?

Sshhhh!

Bump, this is what I wrote in another thread and no I don't have any other connection with the company. Great Sponsor, great product. Get behind a Victorian company. I've been sprucing up the property recently and the double discount has been saving me a lot of dollars. Sign up for a Haymes discount card and then show your MFC members card. Yes I live in Ballarat but seriously the product they produce is awesome and at a seriously competitive price.
-
Ok I'll bite, why is Brayshaw back to the wing? Is Viney back in next week?
-
Still struggling with the lack of love for Baker. Have watched the replay twice now and don't see the negativity. I would think his effort in the last qtr; 1 vs 2, makes the coaching team give him a big tick. On re-watching, his disposal was nowhere near as bad as some are saying.

Wow, I've been using a hair drier for years; on batteries, on circuit boards and on shrink wrapping/ insulation. I don't have any hair so it's been great re-purposing but who would have thought you could find even more uses! Apologies, I thought you where talking about a hair dryer, oops! Now hair conditioner; I've only been able to repurpose as a lubricant! ..... no you filthy beast, not that kind of lubricant.

In: Harmes Out: Tomlinson And lets see how the rejig looks for a couple of weeks baring forced changes.
