If he doesn't kick any goals on Monday that would be likely .
-
I think you will find quite a bit of that happened when Weid was off the ground. Haven't had a close look but I think only 2 of those marks were contested and a lot were them switching around trying to get out.
-
Here's hoping Casey can play a game over the bye weekend and we can see how Brown goes. Might be able to get Viney in for a half as well.
-
So Weid is to become "Shooter"?
-
Said exactly the same thing to someone today except it was in relation to Collingwood. Although I do have a happy little inner glow every time I hear Carlton are having a disappointing season.
-
I think it means he has kicked 19 points out of 39 shots and so has kicked more goals than points.
-
As a bit of an update on what some of the people who are involved in the Club actually think about Weid and his current role, head over to the MFC site and listen to Gawny's presser and Richardson's radio interview this week. But don't come back here and say "see, BBB is tearing it up at training". Weid being the 3rd tall target also gets a mention.

Although I replied to your post it was directed at a number of others as well. I've always liked your posts whether I've agreed with them or not and perhaps I wouldn't have quoted you if I had read your later post in reply to AoB. Having said that I will also say that I get it. You have expressed your concerns about Weid and you've gone to great lengths to support your opinion more than once. I fail to see how I have not allowed you to express your opinion and my comments are around the ad nausum manner in which some posters have run down Weids performance to date, while at the same time promoting BBB as the instant solution based on little except ancient history. You seem to have ignored a part of the post you were affronted by where I stated "If you go back through this thread you might think I'm happy with where he is at, I'm not". This is what I posted, in part, when replying to Ham back on pg 9. Perhaps we can have a discussion. I'm in the camp that thinks Weid should be given more time in the Senior side. That's an opinion. My observation of his last 4 games lead me to think he is improving and importantly the non negotiables are being delivered (think "selflessness" "team defence", "positioning", "constant presentation"). That's an observation leading to an opinion. I don't believe kicking straight for goal or taking every mark as a one touch grab are "non negotiables". I would imagine there are certain KPI's that might need to be met regarding that however. That's a guess leading to an opinion. A number of posters believe Sam has been given too much time to improve based on his age or time on our list. You have blamed the MFC and the Coaches for failing to develop him properly. Weid has played 48 senior games, FACT. Last season he played 13 consecutive games (the greatest amount of consecutive games he has ever played by a considerable margin), from R6 to R18. Averaged 2 goals a game R6 to R14. FACT . All his other stats were reasonable for a key forward during this period. Opinion. He fell away badly in the final 4 games particularly in the Cairns games and I'm not going to try and guess why. That would be speculation. I think he has had a tougher path than most and has had struggles with injuries that have impacted his development, consistency and confidence. I would like to see him get at least another 4 or more consecutive games before doubting him. Opinion. Even then my opinion would be that the Coaches know what they are doing, more often than not, on the evidence to date.

I understand where everyone is coming from but you've left out the important unstated part. It should follow the bolded part in big capital letters - NOW. In the underlined part you want Weid to go back to Casey to get confidence but if we did that at the moment he cannot play. You want to play BB now simply on historic reasons but you have no idea how he is going at the moment. We haven't even got a training report to go on. Let's all just face it, the match committee will give us a better indication in the coming weeks and my money is on Weid playing next week. How many goals does he need to kick to keep his spot?
-
Dazzle you and a number of posters in this thread keep harping on about how Weid is no good / a bust/ disappointing. The statement above is just another iteration of the same thing. What it should read is "He is not performing to the standard we want from him". It's clear that you and many others have run out of patience. If you go back through this thread you might think I'm happy with where he is at, I'm not. But I don't need to SHOUT what he isn't doing. However, I have patience and if the selection committee continue to play him he will either improve or fall away and be replaced. The way everyone is carrying on regarding Weid you would think the sky was falling and Goodwin should be sacked .....oh, wait.

Don't worry, if you're like me you will still have some nervous and stressful moments

Thanks Marty and that actually made me think of the other things that happened when he didn't have the ball. If you go back through the footage there were times when Weid had made a strong lead but kept Andrews behind him and allowed a team mate to chop in without pressure. Even his effort near the end of the 3rd qtr where ANB gets the quick snap out of congestion and the ball falls agonisingly short of Weids diving attempt. In that passage he was first to react and had at least a metre on Andrews and then was instrumental in keeping the ball alive but out of reach of the opposition and a quick clearance by them. Again I will say it, he is contributing and doing all the non - negoitables.
-
If you go back to my post on pg 9 where I talk about the "Non Negoitables"; in the absence of demonstrated superior play by BBB then Sammy has the opportunity to build on his performance. If Weid falls away in the non negoitables then he leaves himself in a position to be replaced.
-
Langdon obviously comes in. The out/s will depend on report outcome, injuries, form and matchups. Way to early to guess and great to have 10days to freshen up. Actually it will be one game in 21 days. Terrific break for all the young'uns. Hopefully there will be some Casey games for others to push their case.

Absolutely Benial

Thanks Marty, I love that you haven't given an opinion just layed out the facts. I will give an opinion drawn from those facts. BBB is not banging down the door to be included in the Seniors and some of that is out of his control. Further to that I will pose some questions. When BBB was replaced in the side by Weid would the Coaches have given Brown a thing or things they wanted to see him do or improve in order to be re-selected and take Weids spot? Other than at training has there been an opportunity for BBB to demonstrate any improvement or show he has taken on any instruction he has been given, if any? Should BBB be selected on the basis of his reputation?

Also at my desk and just finished sending a Very disgruntled customer email to the Commonwealth Bank. Have you read my long reply to Ham on Pg 9 of this thread? If not get back to me after you have, may save me some typing.

Give up while you're behind Scultzy, the current selection committee includes Yze and Williams. In any case the message sent to McDonald was a challenge he rose up to and was delivered in such a way so as to not burn any bridges. I would think that's a big tick.
-
You don't get off that easily, you've gone from "he's ready to go now" to "maybe they are still unsure about his injury". Always loved Hogans Heroes. Wasn't Sgt Shultz's line "I see nothing!"
-
If he was he would be in the side now. Apparently the people who pick the team disagree with you. The Coaches at MFC are such fools aren't they.

Given you've chosen Ham as your moniker it appears you are "A performer who overacts or exaggerates". If you are going to defend yourself by playing the old "it's all just opinions" card it's probably a good idea to be a bit more thick skinned. You need to realise that if you put forward an opinion that I or others don't agree with, then you are open to cross examination, probing and in some cases ridicule. Having said all that, some of your opinion (and lets face it there is a lot) has bits I might agree with. Problem is you lose credibility when you throw in all the stuff you have no evidence for and your opinion appears to be influenced by feelings in your nether regions. Feel free to provide an opinion on my post below but don't waste my time with juvenile BS. I'm in the camp that thinks Weid should be given more time in the Senior side. That's an opinion. My observation of his last 4 games lead me to think he is improving and importantly the non negotiables are being delivered (think "selflessness" "team defence", "positioning", "constant presentation"). Nope, he is the development coach and happens to have a kit bag of tools to help all the aspects needed to be a successful AFL footballer.
-
I agree with your agree but it is for the Coaches to determine what is an appropriate level of performance and that may be based on more factors than how many one grab marks he takes or how many goals he kicks. At the moment the other options have no real form due to Covid restrictions and that isn't really going to change much for a while even when restrictions are lifted.

I'm more impressed with the quality and number of official sponsors we have been able to attract and some of that was prior to this years on field success.

Thanks for your contribution revhead, don't give up your day job!
