Fritsch Out for 2 Weeks with Fractured Hand
dworship replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
So that's how you say it politely. -
I believe so, unlike last year when he stopped his involvement when the season started, he has continued 3 days a week and has been working directly with Uze and the midfield. Among his media commitments I have been listening to him on AFL 360 and I love his team analysis. I have noted that he only talks in generalities when it's Melbourne related. I've been wondering where to post my next observation so thanks for giving me the opening. I thinks it's been largely overlooked/forgotten that Pert instigated a review of the coaching department to identify the needs going forward. It would be naive to think Goody and Richardson didn't have input into that and then Pert set the task to identify the best candidates that addressed those needs. Likewise Goody and Richardson would have to be not just comfortable with the choices but excited by the prospects otherwise it just wouldn't work. The review, the implementation and the results to date say it's been a great success and Pert deserves some kudos. He will deserve the ultimate praise if we can go on to win the supreme prize.

Much like last year when Burgess encouraged him to take a few extra steps when clear, I think the ability to deal with the tag is down to the coaching team and has the "Game Day Strategist" written all over it. Remember Clarry is only 23, when he is coached in a particular way to address an issue and he implements the instructions and it works then we will continue to unlock his full potential. There is an old adage "Success breeds Success". As I wrote the above I suddenly realised this is true of so many of the players, I dare to dream what a 19yo Kozzie could be with the right coaching. Belief is building across the entire squad and the improved coaching has had an enormous influence on that from what I'm observing.

I think the Club has got smarter with this bit and much like the term "doing a Bradbury", I think "doing a Treloar" will become the go to phrase for describing when a Club monumentally stuff's up the moving on of a player.

Depends on how he introduces himself. I worked for years with a fellow who would always introduce himself on the phone or sign off an email as "Darky". Wasn't until years later I found out his first name was Stewart.

Like my Merlot this thread has been aging nicely and although blurry my foresight was 20/20. The only revisionism going on here is by the ....... premature posters who jumped on the bandwagon.

We won't, bar 2 games further down the track to allow him (Jacko) to freshen up. Oh and I think the term is "back up" not spare.
-
The three field umpires are also listed at the bottom of the AFL Team lists each week although you do have to "expand" the list

While on the fundamentals; how long has it been a requirement to spin the ball in your hands as you walk up to take a set shot? Every time I see this it just screams unsettled mind to me. If you have a standard hold for the ball and a standard drop I don't know how you can get it right every time if you are constantly twirling the ball as you walk in.

Oh, ok, now don't do that again and stop feeding my paranoia. I've been to Tassie for 4 games in recent years and lost every one. The last thing on my mind is an increase in percentage. I just want to win down there.

We booked from Friday to Tuesday to be sure. Now to book our tour of Maria Island on Sat or Monday.

Huh?

Really? I missed that.

Happy to stick with "Hells Bells"

Contemplating the Geelong game this week I thought about the Hawks late run at them last round and all the talk around the great rivalry between those two teams over recent years. What suddenly struck me is the fact we now have the Hawks game day strategy coach on our side. All the knowledge and plans that have been used by Clarkson and Yze are now ours. I will be fascinated to see how we try to break down the game style used to frustrate and break us apart last year. For all the naysayers who have whined on about us not having a "plan b" or being prepared to change anything during games when thing aren't working please listen to our Captain during his RSN interview.

This and I would have Vanders come in for young Sparrow. Played off the bench with instructions to free up Oliver if Geelong try and copy the "hard tag" tactic.

Currently enjoying a convivial at the Kingston prior to the game. Judging by the team colours on display we should out number GWS support by 3 to 1. Mind you Mrs DW and I make enough noise to drown out 40 oppo supporters
-
Should have booked everyone in to tour the National War Memorial. With a special prize for the first person to find the tribute to Bluey Truscott.
-
Mrs DW and I fly out this afternoon. We to are looking for a venue for pre and post game drinks.

It would be wise not to get me started on the media.... or umpires for that matter.

This is a bit I've really noticed more in the practice matches and the first two real games. The separation and holding of width has been evident. It's why I wasn't as harsh on Baker as some here as he performed the role and kept his width and was only drawn to the contest when it was necessary. What augers well is the whole team now playing to the plan. Now if we can just stop the occasional 4 defenders all flying for the high ball I will be very happy.

A great team of coaches!
-
That will change dramatically, West Coast play at home this week!

Nope, that's me trying to be nice .... ok the Missus did surprise me with a bottle while I watched the game for a third time. Thanks for the question, I do worry about my liver and yes it can get a bit shizen.

It's often the non stats/non possessions that are overlooked. Opposition players want to kick the ball to a certain area of the ground or to one of their link up players and they look up and there's big Maxy standing in the way. So he dictates where the ball is likely to go and with more experience our players are taking advantage of this by reading/ intercepting the ball coming in.
