As someone who provides data to our marketing team, I'm shocked it was that low given the cohort.
-
It's strange but I feel happier having seen it but not touched it than holding it for 5 seconds for a photo.
-
Show us the flag.

Amazing photo(s). I'm so glad you cheered up lol. Your dad figured out how to smile a long time ago it seems, and never forgot!

Judging by my guitar skills, I'm not him.

I get the feeling Jeff White wants his boy to be a professional athlete SO badly!

My grandfather who got me onto the Dees was a little german boy when he first came to Australia to get away from the war. As a teenager he became a Melbourne supporter and was able to witness a few flags before they all dried up. Unfortunately he didn't get to see this one, so Ich möchte einen Toast auf der Melbourne Demons ausbringen! He had no affiliation for the German football team, so I wonder if he'd even like this team - as a team of Melbourne players I'm sure he wouldn't mind them. As a team of Germans? Hmm…I think he would have been mixed in his thoughts.

My other thought was - it's more scratched than I though it would be - although it has travelled half the country over the course of 2 months and been in the possession of and/or manhandled by a bunch of raving lunatics 99% of that time (present company not excluded lol). And my parting words to the cup: "Welp…see ya next year." That got a bit of a laugh from the group next in line, one of whom said "We don't want to become that kind of supporter." I think I sensed a bit of lingering MFCSS in his tone, as if I had just reignited some kind of…curse? I then viewed the 1957 and 1959 cups (beautiful), then paid my respects at Jim Stynes (still scarf-wearing) statue before heading home.

No touchy for me. I’m not worthy. My unexpected thought seeing it in person is it’s bigger than I thought. It is a damn big trophy.

Which is team number three?

Plan A: The last 30 seconds of Q3 Plan B: Leave it to Mayver for Petty's sake. Hope we have a plan C. I think it involves Hunt going mad on long runs into the forward line, but I'm not too sure. It didn't pan out too well the one time we tried it this year.

Just imagine the back-to-back-to-back. It'll all be settled then. The drought-breaker. The Barassi flag. The Daniher flag. Thank you very much MFC.

xxxx: what a player he was for the dees!

Everyone.

That's on the nose, not up it.

The lack of knowledge about physical media formats in this thread is making me nauseous...

Ben Brown marking it at full stretch above his head is truly one of the great football sights, right alongside things like the Dusty don't argue, the Liam Ryan speccy, the Charlie Cameron dribbler, the Langdon gut run, the Viney tackle, the Petracca burst from a stoppage, the Oliver handpass, the Rich kick inside 50, the Lever intercept, the May spoil, the Jackson followup, and Gawn ruck tap. The fact than Melbourne players feature so heavily in that list just shows the quality of our best players, and the point of difference they all have.

Hope he's the right guy. 😬

Agreed. I'd have the GF teams from the year before play each other in round 17 (or 18 with the bye) and possibly round 23. Imagine one year when the 2 GF teams from the previous year are undefeated coming into round 17. The biggest Home and Away game of all time would ensue.
-
The one player I credit most to our premiership. Big call, but there it is.
-
Sends a message through the whole comp IMO.
-
Round 2. The premiers shouldn't unfurl the flag agains the team they beat - it's bad form. Give the wooden spooner a chance to claim the ultimate scalp, or the Premier to get the dream start in front of a home crowd.
-
I'm a Hibberd fan, but tell him he's dreamin'.

The thing Harmes does really well for Melbourne, and has for years (even back to our 2018 run to finals) is when we're on offensively, he's involved in those long handball chains down the wing that invariably lead to getting the overlap and goal.
