Throw Nathan Jones in there and it reads like an early-2010s Melbourne firsts side.
-
Just casually reading through this thread and whoops! I've accidentally watched the entire 2nd half again.
-
Just an absolute beast in this finals series. Can't wait to see him attack next year, but I do think he'll never play a full season.

Angus Brayshaw. My eternal apologies mate. I did tip you to be better than Trac early, but boy did I backtrack on that. Let's meet halfway hey?

What they're saying down at Moorabool Street
Chook replied to Queanbeyan Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe in ten years we'll be even. -
I was interested so ran this page through the Wayback Machine. Here's what it looked like BEFORE we broke the drought: https://web.archive.org/web/20210319055523/https://www.melbournefc.com.au/history/premiership-years

Hopefully his body can hold up for another 3-4 years. I do worry about his hamstrings. I wonder with Tomlinson available next year if we could move May into a Hibberd-type role and have him play as a small-medium defender.
-
So you're saying he carried Melbourne on his back from its lowest ebb all the way to a flag. Almighty effort.

I spent most of the game with a wry smile, and an occasional disbelieving laugh. I had thought we were a slim finals chances before that day and came away from it knowing we were right back at square one.
-
Also, glad to have another "Dunny" on board.
-
Impressive interview, and you can tell he'll be a good fit culturally. The footy is the footy, and who knows what the team may look like come round 1, round 18, QF, or GF next year.
-
Actually I've been doing that a fair bit to my Carlton supporting co-worker lately.

Just knocked up full rewatch #4, this time with the Perth MMM commentary. It's crazy how the game just flips on that Bailey Smith fumble and Harmes gather. From that point on it's 16 goals to 1.

It's not my style to be arrogant. I love the little things, like our players being rated accurately (or hell, even overrated) in the media, or seeing the word "Premiers" in front of the Melbourne name casually bandied about in the papers/news.
-
It's beautiful. 🥲
-
It’s actually sunk in too. I now live in a world where, yeah, obviously Melbourne is the reigning premier.

Welcome aboard generic ex-Saints player who looks exactly the same as about 10 other Saints players!

As my grandfather would have joked, why has it taken him 9 whole days?
-
Good on him for moving on to different pastures after so long at one club. Wish it could've been another club though, but I expect Collingwood to go places over the coming year or two.

How far off were we from a perfect 2021?
Chook replied to Gawndy the Great's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lack of maturity vs Crows and Hawthorn (plus umpires) cost us the 4 points (combined) in those games. We were 16 points up against the Crows but didn't manage to slow the game down, and were up by a kick with 30 seconds left vs Hawthorn and (I think) Lever kicked the ball long to a contest when he had some open players in the pocket he could have chipped to and eaten up the last seconds of the game. Vs the Bulldogs we were just at the end of our loading phase and I think our coaching panel consciously held some things back that cost us the game knowing full well we had bigger fish to fry. Even so we could very well have won if we weren't so inaccurate. Fair play to Collingwood and GWS, I think those were the only two games this year where the best team on the day won. Bulldogs beat us fair and square too, but we didn't put all our cards on the table that day. -
How Simon Goodwin inspired the Demons to a Flag
Chook replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater I always say. There's lessons to be taken from everything. I think the most important thing is Goodwin started to depend on others more (whether that's his support network, or Mark Williams/Adem Yze), and that mindset change flowed through to the players, so that everyone was part of a bigger whole and could spread the load instead of trying to do everything alone. -
I'm surprised the bulldogs player he cannoned over the line on the Sparrow goal didn't stick to his hands.
-
I think it would be bad form to unfurl the flag against the grand final loser. Let's just lock and load against a Hawthorn or a St Kilda even, and get the season off to a flyer (hopefully).

Thanks - it works (obviously desktop only, not phone or tablet).

Max is a deadset certainty to go into media post footy but just imagine his press conferences as a coach. They’d be must watch television.
