  1. Trust me. The Hawks are no good this year. I'm not talking "outside the eight" bad, but they're no Geelong or St Kilda. In fact, come to think of it, they may as well just play the Grand Final next week between the two obviously best teams in the competition. And then we can get on with getting our priority pick and get ready for next year.
  2. I never thought the days of me almost dying of fright every time the ball came into our backline would disappear, but they have. No longer do I have to shut my eyes and curl up into a ball every time someone tries to handpass inside our defensive fifty. It's a shame it happened four years too late.
  3. Yeah, the guy probably thinks they all look the same.
  4. Where does he fit on your little list there, Ooze?
  5. I think his brain would struggle to compute such a bizzarre turn of events and - with no other option - his head would explode like a robot's when faced with an unresolvable paradox. But of course, YM would tell you that such a thing is impossible. "Cam Bruce," he would say, "is physically incapable of knocking anyone out."
  6. Shows just how bad Fremantle is . . . and how good the Saints are.
  7. I reckon you're right. If everyone was as good as Ablett and Judd, then those would be the roles they'd play. Judd's strength is bursting away from packs and winning clearances, while Ablett's is slick handpassing and sneaking forward for goals. Not to say that either is bad at the other part of the game, though. I often think about this, and the thing I keep coming back to, is that everyone has a tendency to over-correct for weaknesses. Hence our "soft" but skilled midfield of a few years ago compared to our "hard" but slow and unskilled midfield now. The same thing might have happened with our forward line. That's why I'm wary of picking up Butcher this year at the expense of a great midfielder. We may not need the former, but the latter could come in handy.
  8. You are on a roll today, Jaded. Very funny.
  9. Can somebody youtube it for me? One of the few disadvantages of being a Linux convert is that I can't watch bigpond video because of the way it encodes its video.
  10. I'm sorry, but did anyone actually see Adelaide play last Saturday night? I've a strange feeling we'll be right back down to Earth in a week's time. That's not to say I don't want us to win, though.
  11. The Melbourne website is a joke.
  12. See sig. You underestimate the Flash. Super speed is easily the best super power there is. The Flash for Captain in 2010.
  13. Does anyone think we made the wrong choice?
  14. I was thinking about this yesterday. I think getting the sack would drastically change the rest of Terry Wallace's life. He took on the job as "unfinished business" and to go out like he might - well, he could really regret it later.
  15. Spare a thought for me stuck in South Australia . . . I haven't seen a single second of a Melbourne match all year.
  16. Yarggggggg . . . . . . I can't stand it! Call me Charlie Brown but I want some Jack Watts magic. Someone tell me he kicked some goals. Even if he didn't, just say he did. It'd make me feel better.
  17. I can only speak for myself, but when I barrack for the Melbourne Demons, I am not supporting Collins St. or the MCC or Federation Square or anything like that. Nor, I guess, do most Collingwood, Geelong or Hawthorn supporters. I think we all barrack for the feeling we get after a come-from-behind win when we're little, and the resulting visit to McDonald's, or the brand new scarf our grandpa bought us one Friday night, or the feeling that my name's Jimmy, my grandpa's name's Jim and there was a guy named Jimmy Stines out there single-handedly kicking butt for the nine-hundredth game in a row. I suppose I'd feel all of those things no matter what club I barracked for. So in answer to your question, "Melbourne" just happens to be the name of the team with which I associate a large part of my better childhood memories. So I support the team for the same reasons that I choose to remember the good times - because my life would be that much duller if I didn't. And because you'd be crazy to support anyone else. I mean, as we all know, every heard beats true for the Red and the Blue.
  18. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Two Words: The Flash.
  19. I have no Great Expectations for this year, and Our Mutual Friend, Dean Bailey will often find his team with No Thoroughfare to travel through in its' forward thrusts, so lets not Turn the Screws to early. We live in a Bleak House and must endure Hard Times yet. Sure, most games will seem like a Tale of Two Teams, but our bell will Chime. Chuzzlewit., Drood, Pickwit, Rudge - Definitely not names you'll see in a Demons side anytime soon.
  20. People may remember me talking this bloke up as a result of his performance in a game against Essendon in the wet last year, but not any more. My three word analysis: He Is Gone.
  21. And how do you see it? Was Bruce ever good? Is he worth the number that we drafted him at? Or the money we pay him now? Or the spot on our list, or on the field each game? Please answer these questions for me definitively. Please and thank you.
