  1. I agree. It was really good. We're never going to be a great side until guys like Jack Grimes are our leaders (check), and guys like Brad Green and Aaron Davey are gone (getting close now). They weren't quite up to the challenge of bringing this club into the new millenium, so it's getting time for them to wind it up and pass the baton to someone who won't get frightened by responsibility.
  2. I see your prediction and raise you this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAJ95kn4Xm4 It's not about how hard you can hit. It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.
  3. It provided every media personality ammunition to use against him for the rest of the year, and for the rest of his career. Regarding the race issue, Aaron Davey has released a statement yesterday explaining his position. Why should he cowtow to the media when he's already answered all the questions he's likely to ask. And besides all that, the press conference took place before training. I don't know about you, but participating in a media conference just before going out to train would inhibit my concentration and impede the development that training is for. Aaron Davey is a chance to be dropped this week, and only a great week on the track might save him from the axe. We should remember the club's focus (player development and winning games), and remove all player distractions which detract from that. Having Davey front up to deny (again) any involvement in the issue would be detrimental to this goal.
  4. That's the most idiotic idea since the Tom Scully press conference. Throwing players to the wolves like that is sheer lunacy, and it does nothing except give the jackals what they want.
  5. Against the Eagles, yes. But at the expense of Macdonald or Rivers. PS, go back to your old avatar. That picture of the TARDIS is great.
  6. That was bizarre . .
  7. You can go three talls like that if one's a dominant ruckman or is great around the ground (Cox, or in our case Jamar), another is a great forward option (Petrie, or in our case Clark) and the third takes the opposition ruckman when he's in defence (practically no-one in the AFL can do this except Stefan Martin). IMO, the only way you can go with the three talls setup is if you spread the load across the ground. You usually need a big man to defend the opposition ruckman resting forward, and Martin's our best candidate for the job anyway - and he can spend time in the ruck. Perfect. Martin back/ruck, Jamar ruck/forward, Clark forward/ruck when necessary.
  8. Let us know when you get it uploaded. I'd be interested in having a listen.
  9. Still white with short brown hair?
  10. It was the ultimate down day for Sydney, and Brad Green and Aaron Davey are miles away from their form back then. Two years is a long time for those guys. This is a good idea for a thread. Where'd you get your team list from?
  11. WTF at the rape comment. Gross and a little bit petulant. Lay the blame at the incompetance of the Demons administration, not at the AFL. It's not their fault we've drafted poorly, developed our players worse and been unable to retain at least a couple of our brightest stars (Thompson and Scully, for example).
  12. Unfortunately they're either dead (Grybas) or on Foxtel (Huddo). Campbell Brown might go alright after he finishes up playing footy. I can't stand the bloke, but maybe his calling will be okay.
  13. I predict the following: God awful disposal from everyone in our team, a complete inability to kick out from defence, twenty fewer tackles and a -120 uncontested possession count. I couldn't give a rat's tossbag about the scoreline unless we win (which we won't), so I won't be making any predictions in that department. Melbourne's new kicking coach gives Demon Jeremy Howe a few pointers.
  14. I could have read something as good (and as accurate) as that on the Demonland forums.
  15. If I do, it will make it considerably easier to be here till you die.
  16. Mifsud has brought the AFL into disrepute. On that basis alone, he should be fired. Not to mention the fact that he can no longer adequately perform his job, since the players don't trust him to keep his mouth shut anymore.
  17. Yeah, you're right. It probably would [censored] me off too. It would be just the thing the old Melbourne would do. Hopefully "the coach" can move us past that.
  18. I wonder if the events of this week will lead to Davey remaining in the team as a show of faith in our indigenous players. I wouldn't be surprised, nor would I be wholly disappointed.
  19. Gerard Whately just mentioned that the senior player is Aaron Davey. I wonder if the events of this week will lead to Davey remaining in the team as a show of faith in our indigenous players.
  20. Winning is the thing where you have tiger blood and finish on a higher score than your opponent. I know it's been a long time since we've won anything, so I don't blame you for not understanding.
  21. I'm not liking this attitude from you, Jaded. You've become significantly more defeatest of late and I hope it's not indicative of your wavering belief in the club.
  22. In the presser, he mentioned that both he and the players are accountable. I sometimes feel like people don't actually read articles or watch interviews and press conferences, but they still feel like they have the right to comment on anything and everything, based on nothing more than a casual gleaning of information from others' posts. It's not good enough, IMO. I don't believe people should be entitled to their opinion if said opinion is based on nothing more than third or fourth hand information - particularly when more accurate info is readily available. I'm not having a crack at you. I just get annoyed when people who are interested in the Club don't even pay attention to the things the coach says. Based on what I've seen from Neeld, I'm extremely confident that we'll soon observe the things we've always dreamed of seeing from the Demons.
  23. According to "the coach," on the weekend, there was a best four. The rest sucked.
  24. There was some TV show in the Jurassic era with a guy in it whose surname was Milquetoast. He was weak and ineffectual, so the word has been picked up and is now used to refer to anyone with the same qualities.
  25. You're definitely not imagining it. He's got an involuntary twitch on the right side of his face, and it seems he had brain surgery to correct some "wandering nerves" around his left ear in 2010. Source: http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2010/11/23/228081_gfc.html
