I want to see us regularly hit up targets on the half-forward line. This is where we fall down every week and it costs us about 10 goals a game. In my opinion, it is the single largest reason why we're a bad side.

This being Indigenous Round, this article is extremely timely - even more so in the wake of the Nathan Lovett-Murray stabbing that just occurred. I haven't heard that it's race-related, but it still shows the problems that many indigenous people face in this country.

I meant "capable or better than capable," not "capable or better than Frawley." Easy mistake.

Where did I say they were better than Frawley? Regardless, to call him the best defender in fifty years on the back of one All-Australian year is astoundingly poor judgment. This is a man who can't even be bothered holding his hands in the air when standing the mark.

To be honest, it wouldn't be the end of the world. McDonald, Garland and Sellar are all capable (or better) defenders, and as long as we traded Frawley this year, we would get some pretty good compensation. Our defence and forward lines are both pretty much ready to roll, and losing Frawley could net us two excellent young midfielders. I don't know if I'd willingly do it, but if he wants to leave I think we could swing it so that it isn't the end of the world.

All this "friends" business is silly. You don't think Col might have a few friend at the Demons he might not want to leave? And besides, it's not like he lives in China where he can't see Didak and Shawry and drive down the Chandler Highway with them. Money is (IMO) the biggest factor in football these days, and we can give him more of that than anyone else.

If you kick the ball low and direct into the forward line instead of high and indiscriminately, you draw your forward to the ball. Two weeks ago in Dawes' first game, I reckon Col kicked the ball over his head about 5 times when a more precise kick would have changed those turnovers into shots at goal (or at the very least given our midfielders time to run into the forward line and lock the ball in there. What should happen is we run the ball out of defence, give the ball to our best ball users and hit up a leading forward (Dawes, Howe, Tapscott, whoever is in there), who then wheels around and kicks it either to a marking contest where we have the numbers or to another leading foward. Sylvia just gets the ball and either tries to break the lines unsuccessfully or kicks a high up-and-under rainmaker to no-one. The way he plays will usually see him kick a ripper goal once a week, but he could be far more valuable by exercising a little restraint. I predicted before our Richmond game that our delivery into the forward-line would be much better with Sylvia out. Lo-and-behold it was; at one stage we were kicking a goal every time we went in there. Surely we have to ask ourselves why that was. I want us to keep him, but we simply need to use him better. That's all.

Why would we not give him AFL experience if he deserves it?

If Col can stop destroying his teammates' good work by bombing the ball over the heads of our forwards or getting caught in tackles, he might become a useful player. Until then, he's one of the many reasons we can't seem to collect long chains of possessions; he turns the ball over far too often for someone with his skill level. He's a pretty good player, but unfortunately he isn't as good as he thinks he is - and that is his downfall. We need to keep him if possible, but we have to learn how to use him better.

I reckon he's played four good games, 1 average game and 2 poor games. As others have said, he's been brought to the club for more than just his onfield performances anyway, so as long as he is helping us reform our "culture" (whatever that is) then he's doing his job.

Or a balm. Don't put any kind of balm on either. Those things are unpredictable

His twitter said 4-6, so hopefully this article is more accurate (though I can't see how it would be). As for all these foot problems, I think we're being extra cautious and as a result we could be picking up things that other clubs might miss. Let's face it; with the injuries to Garland, Clark and Trengove, we would be right on top of this kind of problem - even more so than other clubs might be.

I guess we were all done with the season by then, but it turns out we did play Fremantle in Round 23 last year (at "Patersons" no less). Freo won by ten goals, Ballantyne kicked 3, Sylvia had 25 touches and Jack Fitzpatrick (!) was our leading goalscorer with a mighty haul of two.

I notice you conveniently left out Clark and Dawes there. Good job distorting the facts to suit your agenda.

I think McDonald should be tried at centre-half forward while Mitch Clark is out. Jack Watts should be moved to the wing so that he can provide that all-important kick into the forward line. This is where we fall down so often, and having one of our best kicks there should make things a little easier for us. Sellar's only viable position is in the backline, and he should stay there no matter what.

If I remember correctly, we were killing them until Mark Jamar went down and an unfit Stefan Martin had to ruck the rest of the game. After he failed to rise to the occasion, the inevitable occurred. I remember it being one of our better games last year, and it gives me a bit of hope for this weekend.

A 3 year deal means he'll be at the club for three years, not that he'll be getting a game every week for three years. From what I know of Jordie McKenzie, he's the kind of person you need around a footy club. Good decision, IMO.

It's much better than what Chipper currently does. At this point, we'd be lucky to get one hand in the air from him.

Until Clark comes back, he'll be our number 1 man, so I think he'll be getting more delivery than he was at Collingwood. It just won't be as good. EDIT: What the Master said.

Finally Stuie posts a useful image. Good job! But on next week's game, surely Bail would have to be the first to get dropped. He has been in our worst handful for the past three weeks in a row!
