  1. That's what long journeys always feel like. Hoping for a win tomorrow would be good, but I think at this stage we just need to look out for signs of improvement in individuals. What else can we do?
  2. I think there are still a few on the list who could best be described as dog scraps.
  3. I thought the object was to win money, not lose it.
  4. Every good game Beamer plays for the Lions is an indictment on both him and Mark Neeld.
  5. For the last time. Franklin Forward Pocket, Dawes Full Forward, Hogan Centre Half Forward, Mitch Clark Wing Quality of delivery is important, and bringing in Franklin would allow Mitch Clark to play further out from goal and give us that vital quality kick inside 50. I've said this about four or five times now, but for some reason you won't even acknowledge it. Gawn is a ruckman, and should play as one. Dawes and Hogan I've mentioned and Sellar is a backman. As for the rest of them, there's plenty of room for them at Casey.
  6. That is exactly what I'm saying. Finally you get it. There's a very good reason why Ablett Sr is rated higher than Ablett Jr, and it's not because of his mullet. P. S. Can someone please put this thread out of its misery?
  7. Worse than that, I think he ruins a lot of his teammates' good work by not taking the first option when he gets it. And no, blindly roosting the ball inside our forward 50 is not an "option" in my book.
  8. Look up the meaning of the word IF!!!
  9. I don't want to get into a big thing with you here, but suffice it to say that there are very few things in the world you shouldn't be allowed to joke about. Gambling debts do not fall into that category.
  10. The man has had gambling problems, but let's not be above making jokes please? It's part of what makes living in a free world great. I've heard it said that comedy = tragedy + time
  11. The only thing we have going for us then is the fact that we would be able to pay him more than any other club.
  12. He's a restricted free agent right? If so, we really haven't much choice but to sign him or risk getting nothing. Personally, I don't rate him and would prefer to trade him for a midfielder with a little more restraint and teamwork. But if it's a choice between signing him or losing him altogether, I obviously hope we can keep him.
  13. It's a gamble, I'll say that. B)
  14. I said he'd be that good if he played as a mid. Obviously I can't prove how good he'd be in the midfield, but besides that I did go on to explain how I would use Franklin if we got him (as a stay at home forward or as a roaming wingman). So although stuie was right in thinking I said we should get him, he was wrong in thinking I said we should play him in the midfield.
  15. I would argue that we already had an experiential black hole and Neeld's recruiting strategy was aimed at filling it. We can probably all agree that it hasn't really been all that successful, but if nothing else it has netted us Dean Terlich and Matt Jones - two players who I think could form a part of any future premiership team we are smart enough to create. Other players Neeld has recruited include Mitch Clark and Chris Dawes, who I think will play a very large role in guiding our team over then next six or more years.
  16. That's because just like crap teams, Collingwood don't bother tagging anyone.
  17. That's either brilliant satire or utter drivel. I can't quite tell which it is, but I hope it's the former.
  18. I cannot believe that Rohan Bail is still in the team after the last two weeks. The kid really needs some time off!
  19. We essentially have a debut player in James Magner this week, so I'd hold off on them for another week. Fitzy should be in next week and Davis the week after. I don't like dumping all these young guys in the team all at once; it didn't work for Bailey and it probably won't work for us either. If Jamar hadn't come up for this week, I would have played Fitzy. But since he did I'm happy to wait a little longer on him.
  20. Life probably is better in North Korea than Afghanistan. But to say that we shouldn't bother distinguishing between the various levels of awfulness currently gracing our team is to miss the point of the process. You are right though; there was hardly any difference between the three.
  21. Can you watch your language please? This is a football forum, not a Mensa meeting.
  22. The award for dumbest footballer may go to Dempsey, but the award for dumbest football must surely go to the Melbourne Football Club. The things we do on the field just defy belief.
  23. I think there's a very good chance that Moloney liked his role under Bailey and wished it could have continued. When it didn't under Neeld, he felt overly-disenfranchised. Where Neeld failed was in being able to connect with Moloney and get the best out of him.
