When I have a horn sitting right there, why not toot it? I feel for the hornless...
-
That wasn't my quote, genie-ess. It was from G'brough Demon. It is just hard to see due to the format change that Land has gone through in the interim. And I would like to think that I have bumped these threads not to point out I was right, but to point out how many of you were wrong. If no-one ever tells you 'you're wrong' how do you ever change and evolve? But, again, my ego loves this crap.
-
I'm bumping this again. Yes, to stroke my own ego, but also to point out how quickly things change. But mainly ego.
-
Isn't it amazing what a little confidence and application does to a gameplan...
-
Ugh.
-
It'll be on FTA but Ainslie Footy Club will have a few Dees fans watching. Cnr of Wakefield and Limestone.
-
And one more thing - you play how you think you should play to win a flag. Landers last year, and the year before, bemoaned our 'gameplan' or perceived lack thereof, and thought that Bailey should base a plan around the players he had rather than mould the playing group around the plan. AoB is right about our recruiting, but it isn't just that - it is changing how the players already at the club behave on the field. Many thought that if we weren't using Moloney's long kick in our plan than he would become superfluous, but instead he has lowered his eyes, worked on his clearance work and handballing and become an A grade midfielder (so far in 2010). Frawley has tamed his kicking, the backs have increased their boldness and confidence, the forwards have prioritised pressure, and the midfield has finally learnt how to handball. Go and watch Rd 1, 2008 for a few minutes and compare our handballing then to now. It's a lesson in sticking to your beliefs and not cowering because of a bad two hours every week when your players don't, or can't, do what you tell them to do.

Honestly, some of you have issues. Or maybe you're just very good MFC supporters. We lose by 50 points and Bailey has no gameplan we cry, we win by 50 points and Bailey just tells them to run, and therefore, we still have no gameplan. We move into the corridor off half back and share (our handballing improved out of sight) until we hit up a 30 metre target outside 50 or continue to share and go over the top of the opposition zone. I saw it last year, hell, I could dig up something from 2008, I really want to toot my own horn here... The point is - if you can't see a gameplan then you were one of the majority/plurality that thought we didn't have one and you're too arrogant to admit you were wrong, are wrong, and are being stubbornly ignorant of facts hitting you in the face.

If we get thrashed by Brisbane I will be down but it won't lessen the fact that we have improved on last year, WHILE GETTING YOUNGER. I am so sick of these 'goal post moving fans' who simply want to be the sane one in the asylum who 'expects more than the rest of you' and are 'not as easily impressed.' Oh, yeah. You guys are amazing how you can point out that we still turn the ball over and that we hurt us against a team that hasn't lost a game. Melbourne supporters... If I didn't love you guys, I'd hate you guys. Just enjoy the ride, you goram clogs.

I'm sick of this attitude. There you are in your comfortable self-righteousness looking down at the rest of us - the easily pleased unwashed - and saying that we don't see the "bigger picture" and that we will never beat a top 4 team when we make basic skill errors. 'No sh!t' to that last part but come on, we are talking about beating top 4 teams now? We are talking about making a semi(which is the reward for being 'top 4')? We have won the last two wooden spoons and won one game in 2010 with a team that is younger than Rd 22, 2009. Enjoy the up and down year (mainly the last one) where these kids develop and fail, and start to fail less, and start on their way. Fans looking at the "bigger picture" just want to sound like the sane one in the asylum with the foresight to know what areas need to be improved and what problems we are facing. Hey! I know that stuff, but I am going to enjoy the sh!tty win against the Crows and the gallant loss against Collingwood. This season is all about seeing the team try and fail (they just are not good enough yet) and I am going to enjoy the ride. Who is with me?!

People want him dropped. How is that rating him? Again, 4th in the Bluey means nothing to fans who only see the horrible turning circle and the ungainly kick, and the mistake at the end (surrounded by plenty of other mistakes by Dees players).
-
Love the kid. Underdone at the moment. 4th in the Bluey last year. People are so predictable and unpersuasive when it comes to Matty Bate and his 'ineffectual' 8 mark 15 touch games. I have said this at this time for a few years now - he is 22 (obviously his age changes), he is asked to play CHF, and he is a very good HFF. Kid's good.
-
Ricky Pettard isn't a footballer's shoelace. But I reckon Ricky Petterd is good enough to kick 35-40 goals this year.

Some of you missed my point, and some of you are childish... I am trying to say that the MFC made a big step on Saturday; playing a very good team and matching them, or beating them, in all areas of the game, and we should applaud and welcome that step, and look forward to the next one - consistency. Just not next week. I'm not giving them an out for putting in a shocker next week but I am saying that the inference that all their good work on Saturday would mean nothing unless they show the same next Sunday is disengenuous. The Demons right now are younger than they were in 2008 and 2009; we still need patience. Because the next 'Hawthorn debacle' is right around the corner...
-
The love for Bate comes and goes like the tide. The bloke didn't have a pre-season and was servicable across half forward with 8 marks and 15 touches. The fact that he is straight into the team without a preseason illustrates the esteem that he is held with by the Footy Dept. He gradually got better last season after many posters thought he should be dropped and he finished 4th in the Bluey. He is trying to play CHF at 22 when he is far more suited to HFF (and an effing good HFF) and he is trying hard. Let him be.
-
Consistency is the next step but I don't expect the next step the very next week. Brent Moloney has become a valuable leader on the field and consistent player by 'lowering his eyes', I suggest some of our fans do the same...

I have read nothing but teeth gnashing and hand wringing and a desire with the Demons to gain Respectability © for a week (and summer), and yet when they play a game like they did on Saturday a few of you what to bathe in your self-righteousness and move the goalposts for our beloved club. Not satisfied with the game because they didn't get the win over a top 4 team coming off a win over a top 4 team. I will have that attitude when we play a top 4 team in 2012, but to say that, coming off two wooden spoons with a young (and getting younger) team, is misguided and disengenuous. You have to crawl before you can walk, and that game yesterday was a massive step in the progress of our team. Yesterday, we got to our feet for the first time and fell over, and many of you said to this emotional toddler - "I'm dissapointed in you. You made the effort to stand up and you didn't walk. I'm not satisfied with that and neither should you be." Talk about anal...

It's endemic within the supporter base; decades of irrelevancy have left many bitter and pathetic, faithless and unreasonably cynical. The only thing you can do is not give in to their comfortable pity parade and tell them off when they say the stupid things they say. Welcome to Demonland - Somewhat confused since 3/4/2010 (the Collingwood game that saw 'the Bailey narrative' challenged).
-
Considering many here believe one bad game against quality opposition merits renegging on a 1yr contract, does playing a very good game against quality opposition lead to consummerate result - perhaps a 2 year extension for Bailey? I maintain my annoyance and impatience with the bulk of MFC supporters - pitifully lacking in intestinal fortitude and desparately afraid to look bad in front of peers. During Bailey's tenure we have become younger, and the younger players have become better. That is what I see with my own two eyes, but please tell me my eyes are lying... But bring a decent argument.
-
Didn't think we would be as crap as we were in the first 45 minutes but I am not going to indict anyone on 45 minutes of rubbish football from a group of footy players who have given a lot of rubbish since 2007. I mean Cam Bruce trusts Jamie Bennell to do more with 4 blokes around him, or on him, than his left foot with three metres of space. Do I blame Bailey for that? Frankly, our senior players, lest Macca, were awful on Saturday, and I couldn't give a flying about how they go - I have seen Warnock, Jones, Bate, Frawley, Morton, Sylvia, McKenzie, Petterd, Grimes, Garland, Jurrah, Cheney, Wonaeamirri, Martin, Jetta, Bennell, and Spencer get better since Bailey has come to the club and, as we are not looking at the immediate, that pleases me.
-
You have used one NAB cup round to indict Bailey and champion Scott. I form opinions on posters and remember their contributions well. That is all I will say... Some on here are trying to say that we will lose 14 games, and that that will be a successful season, and yet you don't think being belted at Subi is acceptable. That dog don't hunt.
-
Sorry KS, I should have remembered it was Iverson. This match means nothing to me, other than a chance to see the kids. And some here to thicken up their skins a tad, just wait until the season starts and everyone is back - you won't survive if you cannot take posters being facetious.
-
In the words of Vince Carter - "You talking about practice?!"
-
Yeah, I want him to fail... I hate some of our supporters sometimes. Kid's going to be special, but that doesn't mean I won't pass along info on our great hope - good, bad, or indifferent. Think before you type.
-
This is the problem, I'm not the one arguing trivialities. I talked to a coach of the club, gave everyone his view. I didn't say it was a coffin nail, I just relayed information to my great friends here at D'Land... And now you have parsed my post and are now making a major issue out of the small, albeit negative, aside I gave earlier. So I can't have an opinion on the personality of a bloke I have seen once a week all summer (Brad not Jack) because I gave no substantive evidence to back myself up? If the internet required substantive evidence as a prerequisite for any information it would implode in on itself.
