  1. What advice was that? Always sand with the grain?
  2. That is quite a lot of writing. Colin has had issues in the past, he is currently working through them, let's hope he continues to do so. To think that he is well, because he is playing well, or whatever your point is, is diminishing the issues that many people deal with, and that Colin is going through. Oh, and do a spell check, or something...
  3. Same was said about Carroll, McLean, and Johnstone over the journey... Sylvia has played one consistent season. I reckon it's a constant battle for Colin and those of his ilk, let's hope he can continue to work hard on his issues.
  4. Why don't we wait until we are up and going before trading away picks and players for perceived needs? A weak forward line is the formulated opinion of the team right now, with a tall forward a priority. But that may not be the issue when we are 4th in 2012/2013 and we wish to graduate from being a 'Bulldogs' to a 'Geelong.' No trading for a few years yet...
  5. Can we just abandon the ship metaphor please? Abandon ship.
  6. Very black and white. We won't know what he can do for 3 or 4 years.
  7. McLean will be good for Carlton. Gysberts has a better chance of being important in 2014 - 2018. And that is all I care about.
  8. Getting back to Peanuts' incongrous argument about choosing a small profit at the expense of list management - the club has a list manager. And a recruiting bloke. Recruiting and list management used to be undertaken by the same person and now we pay two people to do the work. That in itself should tell you that the club is spending money in the right areas to deliver the desired outcome - an effing flag. I'm going to play Darth Vader on the decision to take Newton and Meesen in the RL - "Two Rookies do not concern me, Admiral. I want a flag." So say we all, Darth. So say we all.
  9. McDonald will retire at the end of the year, but Bruce and Green (Vet eligible in 2011) will not see any competitors for the Vet List until Miller (2013), Jamar (2013), Davey (2014), and Moloney (2015). So Bruce could keep going for 3 or 4 years at only the expense of a rookie.
  10. Well I feel a lot happier about having Gysberts instead of McLean... The anti-Oracle has spoken!
  11. Won't know for three years. Bump this thread in 2012.
  12. I'm sorry but I am going to need more than a post from 'hollywood' over at Ology to convince that 1) Buckley actually said these things, and 2) that there is a problem with a differing workloads. And what would Simon know about training workloads? He was fit for about two months last year.
  13. Wonaeamirri while he is holed up injured? He is from the Tiwi Islands...
  14. * This is not an invitation for a response from said poster, but a replacement for that post to save time, energy, and the general Demonland public from having to deal with said poster * You left the disclaimer out, 2SJ.
  15. You don't see the logic?! If they did a review, Wonaeamirri never would have done his hamstring.
  16. WTF? 'Dude', that was his innocent attempt at humour. It wasn't funny but it didn't require that. Welcome, but smarten up.
  17. I love discussing things that are no longer relevant... It's not pointless, it's valuable hindsight into how things happened, and how our decisions are irreversible.
  18. I can absolutely confirm, without reservation, that you look like a fool right now. Massive fool. Come on, KS. That was just 2 or 3 of the most awful posts I have ever seen from you. We all should recite what the debate moderator said to Billy Madison in the movie of the same name... Jeez... Too harsh? I expect better.
  19. And the penny drops... Would all those who believe that Casey is 'just too far out' please expose themselves now. We will call you 'The Bluey Brigade' (a nod to the pathetic waste of skin that posts on Demonology and has this view). If you're a player that lives on the other side of the city I have a failsafe remedy to the travel problem... Move.
  20. I spoke to a bloke at the club at the end of 2008 and asked about how Newton can still have a waist wider than his shoulders and whether he had a shoulder problem or something to prevent his upper body from developing. The answer that I got back is exactly what I have gleaned from watching him play and train myself - he is a coaster of the highest order. That may have changed in the time since then, or it may change now that he is 'delisted,' but it is not some unfounded, or misinterpreted, view of mine. He should be bigger than he is. The club knows it. He knows it. And every Demon fans should ask no less than, barring injury, their players get their bodies in the best shape to play for their club.
  21. FA is inevitable and it will not be the disaster that some envision. The Salary Cap will see to that. The NYY and the Dodgers get the best players because they are allowed to pay an infinite amount. The AFL has the cap, and the draft will only become more of an entity of equality as the best kids become marquee players as soon as they get to clubs as they do in the NBA and the NFL. And if we cannot keep a 25 year old Tom Scully who has played in a few flags in number 31, then what are we doing?
