  1. I'm not justifying anything or anyone. I'm disappointed and so are the KPIs. At the minute they show a stalling of the team, and an extreme inability to show any sort of consistent performance. That's all I am willing to read into them at the minute. And winning/losing is important. But whether you like it or not - everything has a process, and all clubs. Even Collingwood would talk about the process - the things they have to do/complete/compete in - to win games of footy. So I suppose you're right that Winning/Losing is all that matters, but the process decides whether you will win or lose. I find value in measuring that process, and I will let others decide with their 'mouses' whether they do too.
  2. It's not ironic in-and-of-itself, but I will pay it anyway because I was on about second gear writing that...
  3. Who would come to a club that has been so irrelevant over the last 4 years? And Scully hasn't gone yet... And Thompson is the only player you mentioned that I am dirty we lost and he went home (yeah, Jolly is good - Jamar is better). So I don't really see the mass exodus... We are not in a great place but the torch-bearers shouldn't light the fire just yet.
  4. I don't think that's true, KPMG did a study a found that... Honestly, Robbie. Wins and losses are KPIs too. If legislatively important ones... I think there is value in some metrics. How much value? It's up to each of us to analyse. And I have hardly done any analysis of this year KPIs yet, and have repeatedly said they are bordering on meaningless until more of the season has unfolded.
  5. Have a look, I don't care. I don't think you'll find much.
  6. That's a very simple way of looking at things. Thank you for your input.
  7. The St Kilda game was pretty good stats wise, the Carl was less than great...
  8. I agree. I'm not wrong often but when I gave Green the faint praise of being the best of adequate group of leaders, and that he will be a fine captain - I was wrong. He isn't a leader of men and it shows. The sad thing is he isn't even trying to fake it...
  9. He is in charge of the Swans 'academy.' Hence the 'us.'
  10. Yeah, it's great but it doesn't mean a thing of we are back here in 6 weeks time... And Bailey was right to do what he did. Our club got critiqued by a player of another club. You don't let that shite stain you - I don't care if it is true or not, he was right to defend in public the players I hope he bakes in private.
  11. Well, as long as we are not condemning the present with the failures of the past... Jeez...
  12. You're right. And there is a bit of a disconnect here - we have good young midfielders, but that doesn't mean we have a good midfield. Gysberts will be special but his kicking is sloppy and he get muscled around in the packs... Moloney is an elite clearance player (with Jamar) and B grade around the ground, Jones is a solid B in most areas (been very consistent this year), Sylvia is ABC at various times (is getting more consistent aswell), and the rest of our midfield are kids.
  13. That's a good post in a thread. Just not this one.
  14. Echo here. How can we have a go at a ruck coach who has seen one gain AA status last season?
  15. As am I, but I distinctly remember him coming off the ground early in the season clutching his knee. Considering his 2009 and 2010, I think it fair to assume this injury has curtailed his ability to perform. It doesn't excuse other aspects of his game though...
  16. Bailey and the FD tried to turn it into a shitfight - the backline went well (kudos MacDonald), the midfield broke even if Chris Judd didn't exist..., and the forwards wouldn't know a shitfight if one tweeted them to inquire their interest in seeing the new Avengers movie. And Clay - apart from the FD, the club has had a revolution. Saying 'it's all shite, and my club sucks' isn't helpful, and it isn't true. Jim will mould the FD as he sees fit in the off-season. Until then, we are just going to have to deal with an outsider (Bailey) amongst the old Melbourne crew (Connolls, Viney, O'Donnell). As an aside, some of those pushing for Viney to be caretaker ASAP also bemoan our 'culture' and the need for an outsider. If Viney was put in as coach, we would be entirely made up of ye olde Melbourne footy club that has a 'culture of failure.'
  17. He was evidently more than sore. And how do you know there was not a point where it was a manageable injury that suddenly became serious? I would say half the team, on all occasions, are managing slight injuries. Really unfair.
  18. Threads like this make baby Jesus cry. You are reading far too much into twitter @daveytrain1 ok? #cryingJesus
  19. I think you mean the other way around... Aaron has an excuse for his poor performances. He does not have an excuse for his poor body language and attitude. Bailey has had no luck this year - personnel wise. 8-10 regulars out for long stretches and Davey, Frawley, and Jurrah playing injured with another few 'best 22' horribly out-of-sorts.
  20. Stef has had his issues and I didn't think he would survive past 2011 but you change your opinion as the facts change. The sub rule means we must take in someone to help Jamar ruck who can also play another role - Stef is not there at the moment in the forward line but is solid in defence. This month has been great for Martin to accelerate his ruckwork and he has done that. When Jamar comes back he can work on his forward displays. If it gets even slightly better, he has got the second ruck position nailed. Never underestimate ruck dominance - Jamar and Martin will give us that.
  21. And they were the absolute champions of the sport. It would be like Mick Malthouse and Chris Judd-Malthouse in the one club. It's beside the point anyway. I just don't see the desire to get a caretaker in there. If our players can be fired up by a Viney or a Royal or a Barrassi (football clubs in Europe would go for the legendary former player/coach to be 'caretaker') then why is that a good thing? They should spend the rest of 2011 attempting to find something within themselves so they are not so dependent on a media roast, a coach's bake, or any other cooked food...
  22. 'Apologists' DC? There are few holding onto the "we'll be better when we get our injured back" and there are few "the senior players are sickening me" (that's me) and AB is playing semantical games, but I don't see enough apologists to raise such ire. And if there are half a dozen regular apologists - who gives a F? Why spew arrogance and dismissiveness all over Demonland for '6 fairly regular posters?' And PS - not suggesting you are spewing.
  23. That means you better drive on the left lane...
  24. Where are these 'Bailey apologists'?! I have no idea why posters on here are throwing their ire toward such a [censored] minority I don't even know one poster who is an 'apologist.' And don't call those who point out our injury list an 'apologist' because they are not - they are frustrated that Jamar, Scully, Grimes, Trengove (susp), Garland, Batram, Bail, and Tapscott are not playing at the minute. And don't call those that don't want to replace him with Viney mid-season 'apologists.' They don't see the point of removing a coach and putting someone form the same system in. They would prefer the decision to find a coach done properly. Just stop this 'apologist' BS. Everyone on here wants what is best for the club; even the ones you think are idiots.
  25. Yes, I like this too. When he [censored] up he doesn't drop his head and sulk back into position like the bloke who used to wear his number did. After he gave up that goal to Betts he punched his fist. Body language is important in a team environment. Green could learn something about keeping your head up, and your mouth open. His form is getting slightly better (slightly), but his body language is atrocious still.
