  1. He is saying "if we don't get the first pick in the draft then Scully isn't worth it." Doesn't hold much water for mine, being pushed back a place is nothing - the talent you are going to get is going to be good anyway...
  2. I know. I was being flippant. As in "enter any star of the game here." I chose Judd because he also went for the Dees as a kid. And that fact makes a world of difference!
  3. Probably Adelaide in '97. But what about the Eagles this year? They might give the top 6 a shake. But wouldn't get the opportunity in this proposed 'diagonal league.' And having a bad run of injuries in 2015 means that you cannot win the flag that year and the next year. That isn't fair, it isn't right, and it isn't going to happen.
  4. Trying to get Franklin is all well and good but why not throw everything at Chris Judd in the next 2 years? He would complete our team and was a Melbourne supporter growing up, like Franklin. He'd offer more to us than Buddy in my opinion.
  5. Half the comp can't win the [Censored] flag?!
  6. $4 dollar whorrific weather we have been having lately, hmmm?
  7. Un-restricted FA definitely favours the bigger clubs, but as the players are 28+ (if we are going with the 7 year restricted, 10 year unrestricted) and that requires a great deal of forward planning by the 'predator' club. NFL and NBA have shorter times for both levels. So the 'predator' clubs will only have those stars for a short time if they manage to get them.
  8. Have a bad run with injuries and you can't win the flag that year, or the next year... Anyone see the problems?
  9. Every league has a problem with irrelevant games. In the EPL it is games between middling sides. In the US it is between non-big market sides. Deal with it. I don't like the idea of a WCE not being able to push the top 6 because they had a bad run with injuries the year before and are in a different [Censored] league...
  10. I'm thinking pretty clearly...
  11. You should read the proposal. VFL not-inlcuded. A second-tier flag? I just saw my breakfast again...
  12. I am very pretty... It's a US term used by sportspeople mainly (and Steve Tyler). Evan Longoria used it a couple years back when his Tampa Bay Rays were one of the youngest teams of all time in the 'post-season' and playing for a franchise that had been a joke since its beginnings. He was asked how his young team is so composed and confident as they took it to the world champs and he said that were not either but "you've got to fake it, until you make it." They eventually beat Boston and made the World Series.
  13. So the answer to about 9 clubs having little hope of winning the flag is to make sure 9 clubs have no hope of winning the flag? Huh?
  14. Mine are at the expense of Newton...
  15. You've got to fake it, until you make it.
  16. We have frontloaded contracts in an attempt to try and get someone next year or when FA comes in. Cam Schwab mentions it all the time.
  17. Why do more teams mean wwe can't do it like we have done?
  18. It's well thought out but it is the bastardisation of US and European sports. NFL conference style fixture with teams playing across divisions, and relegation and one division higher than the other like in the Football leagues of Europe. It's a strange 'diagonal league' that makes me cringe when I think of it really. I hate it.
  19. I am of two minds on this because I like the arrogance. Love it in fact. But is it the right type of player, at the right time? I would say, go for it. Stars are stars.
  20. Don't say his name!!
  21. No it doesn't count. But you are right that they can misleading. And 45 was thanking Riv et al. if you misread.
  22. According to some on here, Pendlebury was not hedging his bets with that one year contract... Even to the extent that they would like to see Scully sign a one year contract... I would not be one of those posters...
  23. From memory it was 20 to 8 at qtr time. And it was return of 3.2 from 20 I50s. Eventually, 10.8 from 60 I50s. We had 15.11 from 45 I50s. They can be misleading as we were better at keeping it in our 50 and they relied on their midfield to get it back in there. Oddly enough, the 'we didn't have Watson' meme has to be questioned as they broke even in the clearances.
  24. I love Martin. You are expecting more than should be expected of him. Jamar's 'J curve' wasn't as steep as you would like Martin's to be - it's unfair on Stefan. If he wants a long term gig, he knows (as he intimated in that article) that he has to be versatile and develop a presence in the forward line. Jamar is our first ruck, he is taking our midfield on a armchair ride to the top 4 if they want to go and I think the club will move Jamar forward more but he will still be in the ruck predominantly, especially against the better teams.
  25. And it all breaks down when we play finals because who does everyone think is going to ruck most of the time in the finals? It will be Jamar and so it should, he is one of the best ruckmen in the league, and is a Premiership quality first-ruck.
