Having Bate as sub means he won't be a 'gear' off the pace like he usually is... With that said - I would not have had Petterd as sub against Sydney but he aided a change in momentum that nearly won us the game.

Did Pendlebury sign a one-year contract?! lol Imagine if a Melbourne player did that? ADC and BB would meltdown...
-
With 5 of our top 10 players this season out, it is going to be tough. But if their attitude is there they will win.
-
It think the term '[censored] inevitable' is most pertinently used when discussing the 'nationalisation' of the VFL...

BB had a go at him for doing this in another thread and it is unfair. It's either contribute to the club in some way, write a piece for the website (which some on here constantly whinge there isn't enough content on) or go home and play Xbox. And that line does look like it reflects a very self-aware young man...

I haven't been less convinced by Matty than I am right now. He seems to have lost a lot of confidence - far too worried about where his opponent is in marking contests, doesn't back himself (as he used to) to judge it better and get to the ball first. And what is Melbourne fans fascination with jumper-punching? Dunn's tough cause he acts like this at the start of games? Warnock is a competitor for the same reason? Trengove is tough because of the way he goes about it when the footy is near, not because of pointless aggro and jumper punching...

Oh, sorry. OD's mum is right. The Nile Delta provides an oasis in an otherwise barren region. I'm glad she appreciated its wonders.

No, I'm here. Just watched the finale of Chuck (you don't know it, it's ok, but it's a good show!). Anyway, the Dees. We suck but we're better than we were last year. That gets lost on those that think 2010 was all party pies and Sydney floggings... Although, Jamar, Grimes, Trengove, Bail, and Garland have been in our top ten players this year... We will see the resolve of our 'senior' players in the next month. And that is valuable - 2011 was never going to be anything other than a middling (or competitive) year and we are more or less (leaning heavily on the less) lived up to that inspiring promise. We have the cattle - but they are babies (or injured - McK and TS) and they are not helped by their more experienced 'leaders.'

He needs to work on some things. He will develop, progress isn't linear. I'd listen to offers but I doubt there would be anything out there worth it - he's a talent, and I want to back the team that Stynes will assemble in 2012 - Bailey or no Bailey - to get him into our best 10 players.
-
I would tie his future to Bailey's. If he goes, so does the LG. As for who will replace him in 2012. Let the kids decide amongst themselves.

Empty vessels, DC. Empty vessels. But everyone knows - the louder you are, the better your argument...

Bit of a mixed bag. Difficult to read still.

Yes, everyone can have their own interpretations. Unfortunately, there are many that must have taped the Sydney game from last year, watched it over and over in the summer, and raised their expectations through the roof. The Demons of 2010 were not better than the version of the Demons in 2011. It's too early to measure improvement. Yes, we have been sh!t this year, but we were sh!t last year too.
-
Akum? You can see how pathetic we were at times last year, can't you? It's too early to gauge any improvement in 2011.
-
Well, it didn't help... Probably Colin's fault.

Revisionist history. Let me add to that earlier post. We were awful in patches last year, and we were bad for a plurality of time last year, and we good in patches last year. Relive history... Pathetic effort against Hawthorn. Pathetic effort against Hawthorn? Great effort against Collingwood. We nearly lost at home to a depleted and awful Adelaide - who kicked 5 goals on the day! The Brisbane game this year? We went goalless for a qtr against Richmond when we flogged them. The third qtr against GC? The Brisbane game at the G. The GC game? Rubbish effort against NM at Etihad. Rubbish effort against NM at Etihad? Goalless first qtr against WB. Pathetic effort against WCE at home. Same but in Perth? Conceded 8 goals in last qtr against Port after dominating game. Thrashed at Skilled Stadium. Pantsed by Carlton at the G. Draw aginst a wayward Collingwood. Draw against a wayward Sydney? Embarrassed by Adelaide over there. Easily handled by St Kilda at Etihad. Conceded 6 goals to Essendon in the last after dominating. 3 goals to HT against Freo over there before rallying. 6 of ten goals kicked in one qtr. The Sydney game. The Adelaide game? 2 goals after HT in win against Brisbane up there. 6 goal last qtr required to get past Richmond. Effort against Hawthorn good until last in wet. Awful effort agianst Port over there. Effort against NM acceptable until last. More patheticness than dominance and a plurality of competitiveness (and doesn't everyone hate that word...). We were bad last year...
-
No, we are not a good team. But that doesn't absolve the senior players and their repeated performances - similar to last weekend's last three quarters...
-
He means the 'nature' of a culture, not the definition of culture.
-
That's why I would hand them the reigns from 2012 and have the leadership group compiled from theat age group. Davey, Green, and Rivers, are not natural leaders, they don't belong there, they don't know how to fake it, so move them to the periphery and I think we will find that a group with Grimes, Trengove, Frawley, and Scully will demand more from their teammates because they demand more from themselves.
-
BM knows what he was referring to. BM believes we sent Robbo, White, et al. packing a year or two too early. I say WGAF, but that's just me.
-
And Port and Adelaide over there. There are posters on here who must drink or something because they do not remember how awful we were in patches last year. We kicked 7 goals at home against the eventual wooden spooners...
-
Jamar looked lost a few years ago. And we are not asking Martin to do what Jamar does - we are asking him to give Jamar a breather now and then.
-
I'm not a big fan of captions either. I mean, pictures say a thousand words but you still need 8 words below it?! Barge! Flimshaw!

This is where our 'culture' has an issue and it was what I was alluding to. It's an intangible but we do have this aura of being too easily pleased with, not mediocrity, but 'near enough' results and effort. And I think we, the fans, are apart of that. We were happy enough to finish in the bottom half of the 8 under the latter years of Daniher, and we were happy enough playing finals in between years where we would finish in the botom 4. Now, judging by Green and Co's reaction to the Adelaide game, the players seem to be happy enough doin gthe hard work when the heat is on and then giving some platitudes about 'next week' and expecting it to happen without puttin gin that effort they put in the previous week. If it takes a new coach to break this acceptance of 'decentcy' (as opposed to mediocrity) then so be it, my personal view, which most know by now, is that it will be our spiritied talent who are 23 and younger that will break this acceptance of 'near enough is good enough.'

I'm sure the review looked into it.
