Completely understand the desire but Jamar is an AA ruckman. We are going to put him in the ruck in big games and big moments and we will also like to have a decent forward target at that same time too...
-
We would have won the drawn game against the Pies last year - 78 to 78.2. Close one!

I understand the sentiment but please don't equate Green to Kerr, Embley, Cox, or Glass. The are on another level. We should keep him, he has been a good contributer to the club. However, he shouldn't decide with the FD whether he keeps the captaincy; Maxwell has to win his captaincy every year and the FD should, in consultation with a blind vote from the players, decide who is going to lead us in 2012.

Isn't that nepotism... That's bad.

So Brad is moving into a "Greaves" type role at the MFC or another club?
-
DERP! Honestly, how would we know? West was an excellent addition 12 months ago and a disaster 2 weeks ago. Royal is an experienced assitant coach who has worked under many different coaches and thinks Bailey was soft on the guys. That's good enough for me at this stage.

I think Brad is expecting to move on...

Melbourne To Receive $9.1 million from the AFL
rpfc replied to Grandson of a gun's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, (forces smiling face) Canberra is so enjoyable when Floriade is on. They are missing out on so much... -
Yes, it leaves a bad taste. An aspect of the reason why I gave he-who-must-not-be-named so much time and belief. With that said - it's cutthroat and Brad is the leader of a team that was just pathetic at times this year. He's gonna cop some more before he has the chance to turn things around. I think he has two years left at least but I can understand those who don't and I can understand the desire to give a one-year contract. Loyalty is lost on some fans when it comes to players showing it, and that frustrates me too. With that said - I care more about the club than an individual player's loyalty and if Brad is captain next year I will start the year frustrated and aggravated.
-
Just on Seb Gotch - it looks as though he is not going on an Australian underage cricket trip to India (and foregoing the captaincy apparently) to focus on exams... You can read that differently to me, but I think that means he has chosen football. Or possibly him mum got in his ear...
-
We should just call him Junior. He's a clone.
-
Mighty strong words. I'm wondering what you are so horrified by? The questions being asked of his captaincy or the fact that many on here would prefer to have only a one year deal given to Brad? Personally, I am happy to give him two years, as I know he can offer more than 2011 in the next two years, but I don't want him to be captain.

I think Beamer himself would have the same criticism. The difference between his best games and worst games is stark - about 10 possies and a whole lot of influence...

They pushed the draft age forward by 4 months, which allowed a bigger pool for GC last year. -

Yeah, that's what we assumed. I would say the two 'lead-up' years would involve us paying for sessions with bio-mechanic experts (money we wasted on he-who-cannot-be-named) and physio work etc. Really looking forward to Rd 1, 2013. -
Still think he is more talented than Hale. Not there upstairs from what I have heard, but we'll see...
-
I think his finish says more about those that don't consistently perform and finished lower than it says for Jared. Jared is as Jared does. He is an expert 3rd tall. But the fact that a 3rd tall/loose man is coming second in our B+F is a tad concerning... My issue is with his leadership and his body language when we are struggling. Well done to the bloke but he needs to work on a few areas still.

I know what you are saying - that a captain has to play the majority of games, or not be given the captaincy unless they are expected to play the vast majority of games. However, it is telling that Grimes gets injured and wins the Leadership award. I could juxtapose that with our currnet captain who, a couple of years ago, wasn't elected to the LG because he was injured in the preseason. I didn't think that was an excuse then and I still don't. Leadership can be shown in other ways and if it means you become basically another assistant coach - you become another assistant coach. I am sorry, but I would have Grimes captain before I would consider Brad again.

Kissed On The Dicker, Ian Dicker, nice to see you again, that Kennett fellow is taking the credit for all your hard work. Tsk, tsk. It was a turn of phrase invented by Hannabal/Lone Wolf/Glengarry Glen Ross/Trav 20/Tweed Pig. I think I repeated it about 100 times in the following couple of months. Even Jaded used it... -
Yes, but if you cannot get two trades done with teams who want the same picks - you might have to choose...

Yeah, listen to OD. We have been KOTD by genetics here. I'm happy to wait for him and it's great to see him do so well after losing a similarily talented player leave the club recently... Rd 1, 2013 - James McDonald handing over his 23 to Jack Viney. -

No, I get you. But... I would get Viney for what he can do at 23 aswell as what the can do at 18. You don't draft in the first round for immediate impact. It's too big of an investment. Just how I see it. That doesn't mean we shouldn't get in ready-made bodies, but to do that in the first round is haphazard and leads to making "Molan's" out of molehills... Trying out a clever turn of phrase... Probably didn't work. -

Well, if they are thinking that far ahead - is it saving a great deal of money? What would he be on? It's his first three years of footy and the draftees get around $75k in their 'automatic contract' so would we pay him $300k/$350k for his first three years? We would have to pay him something in those years to live on so the same as the other recruits - $75k? Leaving about $75k - $125k saved by paying him the money in 10-11 and 11-12. I guess it would help a little with salary cap room but I doubt they would be doing it. -

I think you should think this through... What would he be on to make that so vauable? Would Todd want his 17 year old earning the number figure in your head? They will be covering his football expenses, making sure he is working on any biomechanic issues, etc to get him ready and have him on a 3 year deal from when he starts playing on slightly better terms than the automatic deal.
