Great application and a ferocious tackler. Played 15 games this year and I wonder what the Neeld FD is thinking about when it comes to Batram. He is finding it difficult to stay within the areas he is good at, when he ran behind Gysberts and demanded the footy earlier this year and proceeded to kick it out on the full is a case in point. If he stays he has to get a specific role with defined directions - and he is capable of doing that.

I know there are many who believe in the blanket statement - "you can't win a flag with Nathan Jones in the midfield." But blanket statements can be quite stifling... There is a role for him now and if his leadership continues to grow and he realises his limitations and plays to his strengths, he can play a role in that flag tilt. Had a really consistent 2011. Well done.

It's a saying - I am using it in the way that there are always going to be those who criticise what you do so just keep on doing what you're doing. So please don't take the 'hate' seriously. As for "Craig = Debt" opinion, I don't get it. We have a dearth of professionalism and we have tried to go out and get what we haven't got. If mismanagement occurs we will criticise that but if we cannot expect to have an FD like the one we are building we may aswell pack it in now and play in the VFL. I would prefer we go into $2m debt and win a flag than breakeven and finish 5th. That's just my view.

So it's PR reasons?! It's not an winning argument. Hell, it's not even cogent. Brad Green was such a disaster of a leader his biggest contribution was to almost get Schwab sacked by complaining to the board about issues we are not privy to but I am willing to contend I would not agree with. Given a choice - I prefer Schwab's plan for the immediate future of the footy club over the concerns of the senior players. But that's beside the point - if you want to argue PR reasons it is a losing battle - he was embarrassing at times this year. I will struggle to accept his captaincy if he doesn't have to win it back.
-
And they will hold off until pre-season, although probably not the end... But he should win back his captaincy just like Maxwell has to do at the club our coach just came from. And I do not feel he will win it back, and that is why you decide every year. Leaders change year-to-year as much as the teams they are supposed to lead.

I'm open to many bit-part players at the right price but you still have to move enough players on to bring in the bit-part players...

In fact, too much icing just gives you a headache...

Yeah, start a Rumour/SNF thread on the main board.

The only problem I see with this is your hypothesis stems from a Hagdorn 'scoop'... The guy is guessing, and you are guessing on his guessing. If anyone guesses on your guessing from his guessing we would enter a 3rd level of guessing and risk being stuck in limbo...

Yes. He is the Freak of reality...

Great kid is Jack. My problem is with the stuff I do see. A leader cannot be a leader if they aren't leading on the field of play.

Great sentiments. Just on the bit I have quoted - Aaron Davey shouldn't feel threatened by the desire for hardness. It would be an indictment on any player to feel that way. He can work on a few areas and be back to his best but he has to run defensively, tackle hard, get to more contests, withstand the contests, and push himself to be a more positive influence. If he does that he will be back to his best and be 'hard' enough to keep his spot.

Please post pertinent lines, OD.

His performance was poor but that isn't what convinced me he isn't a leader or shouldn't be captain - it is his awful body language when he is down that can leave one to assume he is selfish and consumed by his own performances. Another issue is with the related lack of vocal and physical support for his teammates; he rarely talks at the breaks and relies on Beamer to do what the captain should do. I know it is tough to do those speeches but you tell the bloke making the noise to shut up and you fake it the best you can. He puts his body on the line when he has to, but he doesn't get in the face of the opposition when we are being punished as Neita used to, nor does he get himself, and throw himself to the bottom of every pack like Junior did when the 'chips are down'. He isn't a leader of men and he has trouble mustering the courage to fake it. He can have two more years. But none more as the captain of the MFC. I'll leave it at that as I don't want to harp - but I can sense a softening of position and I will find it unacceptable if Green is not asked to 'win' his captaincy back.

Kid's a born leader. If he wants to come home, go and get him.

Are you in engineering? That was the hardest org chart I have read...

Certainly agree with this. This re-structure is something that is at-odds with the way footy clubs are run in the AFL. I don't know for certian whether this change is what was recommended in the Andrews report but Cameron looks to be working well with McLardy and Lyon so hopefully we can move on and the players can leave the board alone this year... It's almost as if Neeld is the coach of the playing group and Craig is the coach of the coaching group. 1st Level: Schwab - CEO 2nd Level: Neeld - Head Coach Craig - Director Of Sports Performance 3rd Level: Viney Misson Harrington Prendergast 4th Level: Line coaches. That's how I see it anyway. Well done to Cam, Don, and Garry.

...and the sport science stuff that can help him hit the ground running. Not just physios but bio-mechanic knowledge. He should be the most 'looked after' junior player in the country.

Irony. Stick to the topic HT. Brad Green - Great Captain or Greatest Captain? Discuss.

One rogue clerk buying desks... tsk, tsk

So you shouldn't post if you disagree with the thread? "I only want to argue with people who agree with me." Pretty boring.
