I am a bit disappointed we didn't just go for the 'he-who-must-not-be-named' - Crouch straight swap. Don't know the kid - but I would have liked the neatness of star-quality for star-quality trade. We look like making a decision to maximise returns with the risk of failure at the forefront of our minds... I still would like to see us to trade those picks. We need star quality. And I just don't see us getting that with picks in the teens...

Brett Lovett sacked as Sandringham Coach...
rpfc replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Football Director requires an 'old boy.' Nepotism is sometimes required. Board member. Ear to all at the club. Footy IQ required. Loyalty definitely needed. An 'old boy' is what is required. -
Bate wants to leave from all reports. That sentence about Dunn hurts my sensibilities. The guy tries his hardest to annoy opposition players, he is definitely part of the problem - the malaise that has revealed itself amongst our group.

Tim Harrington's cautious approach to the mini-draft
rpfc replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have to nominate when we are to use the picks, if we wish to, before the season. So if we wish to use the picks in 2012 then we must say we are to use them in a few months time. I wonder if we can trade those comp picks in October 2012 before Nov 2012 draft. Anyone got an answer? -
If these deals are correct then GWS are not acting in good faith (yeah, we all know their record...). Adel - gets Crouch and Pick 14 GWS gets Pick 10 and Pick 20ish (comp) Melb - gets Crouch and Pick 25 (the one Collingwood gave them) GWS gets Pick 12 and Pick 12ish (comp) How the hell does the MFC get rolled on that? I call shenanigans! Seriously, though. I call BS.

Perceptions doesn't worry me. I do want us to get a star level talent for the compo but it doesn't have to happen yet... We do have them for 5 years and if we cannot offload them this trade week than we will evaluate the next draft and make a decision on what to do.

Who cares if they are swapping each clubs 30th best player? Save your ire for deals that are in the least bit important. Like what we do with the compo or the first round pick.
-
He is doing a fairly good impression of someone who can then...
-
That would not get near either... I hope the incredulous tone I wrote that in transfers over the internets.

They deserve it.

I know the Tasmanian Hawks do...
-
No, I have only heard that he is having 'trouble.' I assume the bone hasn't healed yet and that is why he is on the bike at the club in October.
-
'One of the boys' has to do that job. The Football Director is the board member with an ear to everyone who knows all the dirty laundry. It is most definitely a 'job for the boys.'
-
Maybe Football Director then? Garry has to get someone if he doesn't want to keep doing it...
-
I've said enough already. He can play a couple more years and be a very good Melbourne person. But without one particular thing.
-
He's still having trouble with his foot.
-
He's a better kick than he thinks he is. I want to strangle Green, Moloney, and Davey when they trail behind him screaming at him to handpass it to them while they are standing still in awful positions. I cry sometimes about our senior players...
-
Ok, there is such things as 'untouchables' because they would tear the club apart to a certain extent. Woewodin was an 'untouchable'... But the players I would hate to see leave as a member of this organisation are (unless they agitated to leave): Watts, Frawley, Trengove, McKenzie, Grimes, Moloney, Jurrah, Jamar, and Bail. The parameters for inclusion in this group are talent, commitment, and leadership. And, of course, it changes constantly...
-
How do you know who will stick around? He-who-must-not-be-named was a Victorian... Jack Trengove, a South Australian pined after for by PA and Adelaide, has embraced the club the way I embrace a Mountain Goat Hightail Ale on a cold winters night... How are you supposed to know? Get the best talent you can and try to keep them.
-
You do know that you can do that for any player at any club?
-
I doubt that. He seems to have an effload of commitment to come from where he has come from to start this. From here it's easier. He will be here for a decade.

Thread back on track, please. Wow, our coaches are good and speak proper.
-
He'll get there. I hear he is still having trouble with the foot. A lesser man will succumb. Jack Grimes will get there.

Give the kid a break...
