  1. Why bother? Doesn't want to come to Melbourne, can't be convinced otherwise. I don't want us to waste our time like we did with Clark...
  2. He isn't being paid the highest salary at the club to be a backup ruck...
  3. Yes. But remember people, the PSD is right there and clubs will use whatever they can to maximise there own trade/draft scenario. Warnock has a lot less value than many see.
  4. The flag window has been maintained. I wrote when he-must-not-be-named left that these future picks will put our window back a year or two - with Clark providing a massive forward line presence I believe that the window has now shifted back to where it was. The game is won or lost in the middle but a Clark-Watts-Jurrah-Howe forward line has repercussions down the line that make life easier for a few people - including midfielders looking into the forward line. It would be good to see the club spend some of the comp currency on a Josh Caddy, but waiting for this draft next year is fine too and will help us build for our time. I am not saying we will be top 4 next year but I am saying that we have managed to maintain what I thought was pushed back, and it feels good.
  5. There will be a few Demonlanders who will wake up surprised and happy... But anxious and certain that at some point it will all fall apart... I love being a Melbourne supporter!
  6. I think that Warnock and Maric will just walk into the drafts. They are OOC and might have a couple of suitors but those clubs don't want them bad enough to trade aggressively with us. I don't think they have much value at all. Never have.
  7. I don't really worry about salary cap issues because StK has them but they nearly won two flags getting those problems... But I hear what you are saying. I would like to think Trengove will be the kind of kid that others are drawn to. And he has bought into the future of the club in a big way.
  8. We got those priorities as we lost a potential star mid (let's all hope not) so I am open to spending them on a potential star mid. I don't know Caddy well though... Anyone?
  9. So do people still think we should get Fev? I am curious as I have an inkling half of us think Clark is Jamar's understudy and the other half think he is our new KPF. I do have to say that his wage might be exorbitant for a back-up ruck...
  10. I agree with jungle dee in that Black would be great. I disagree that we will get 4 years out of him... I think he has one or two possibly injury ravaged years left. But we need leaders and he is that. I would inquire but he may want to stay a Lion for life.
  11. I always retort by saying, as Mike Sheahan wrote, we nearly "ate Hawthorn whole." When Scott took that velcro Hawk off our jumper - the imagery was right, we were just there to pillage and move on.
  12. I really don't see the issue here. I believe Mitch Clark was excited by the prospect of playing mainly forward at Freo and I see him doing the same. He is incredibly athletic for a 200cm bloke and I can see all three playing in the one team with Clark doing very little rucking. Jamar and Martin could never be the number one forward and while Clark has had his downers, he has the potential to be that target.
  13. 3.12m over 4 years doesn't seem right to me, but who knows. It's a risk but we all realise that we can't have skinny toddlers in every position. I hope we go after Simon Black aswell...
  14. Mark Robinson tweeted that he hopes we aren't paying him too much... What does it matter when we had a $600k offer knocked back by a certain someone a few weeks ago. Gotta pay someone. I'm glad it is a 200cm athletic CHF/Ruck who has a great leap.
  15. Touché. I must say I am a little taken aback by this. The Melbourne FC twitter feed has just announced he has agreed to a four year deal. So the options are down to: hacking of our twitter feed, or the club actually landed a player they were going after.
  16. Effing cruel for all involved if it is... Footy is so stupid sometimes. What the hell is happenning?!
  17. I put up with 08 and 09 because of the lure of a flag due to the talent accumulated. I hate finishing 6th and not having a chance of winning the whole thing. You are easily pleased.
  18. Yes, and this is what I meant too. Others will say that $5m debt is basketcase worthy but we were an onfield basketcase at times this year and that is the most visible aspect of a club. Getting that right makes a huge difference to how people perceive the club. Which is why I am thoroughly concerned by our senior players as they are the ones that drive onfield performance. Get me Kane Cornes, Scott Thompson, or another couple of leaders, before Monday...
  19. I understand the frustration that fans feel when we cannot attract players, but not long ago we were a basketcase. It's a steep climb. We have been able to attract off-field names and that is promising, but we are still wading through the inertia that comes from being as poor as we have been. As for Clark, he wants to go home.
  20. Don't think Judd will let it happen.
  21. I don't care about trades for Warnock or Maric - I don't think there is any value out there. People are welcome to disagree. So if the Calrk deal doesn't come through I would jettison those two. I would get Wonna to be a rookie. That would make three. I would then keep the rest and trade Pick 12 to Freo for Picks 16 and 20, or a Suban, Ibbotson or Duffield.
  22. That's the spirit!
  23. And that is what we will do.
