  1. Why not? We begged out current coach to come to us...
  2. The PA should fight harder to get rid of it, do something for the kids who put their life on hold for a shot at AFL footy and get treated like an afterthought at most clubs.
  3. Frawley leaving next year will mean we get Band 1 comp and a top 5 pick most likely, or we trade or keep him as a RFA. If you don't know the FA rules, google them or search for a thread on here. Now back to the rumours...
  4. Agree. People always get ahead of themselves in October. We will move past players when others take their place. Welcome to reality.
  5. He's on $700k from reports. That's quite a bit.
  6. I think you do care how your opinion is rated on here as you continue to give it for our consideration. And your reaction to anyone giving a 'rating' on your opinion is not one of indifference... I think Roos will look at McKenzie and wish that the bulk of the list had the intangibles of this bloke. He will still be doing jobs for this club for a few years to come. I agree with DA that his 'job' shouldn't always be as a tagger.
  7. That net is too wide. The coastguard is worried about that net. I am now tangled in that net.
  8. The worst of all worlds really. If you are a team 'on the nose' your only hope is that a hall of famer grows up next to your training grounds and loves his mum so he won't leave.
  9. Put a ? after the title. I don't think it will be the role Mahoney is in, but I think we can keep him around in an overseeing role that will allow him to explore what interests him and allow us to do what interests us; namely keep him on the payroll.
  10. Try and leave that open perhaps?
  11. Well, their variant may be worth a look here however that does mean that players are on inflated salaries.
  12. Won't comment on the kids as I don't get any exposure to their leagues but I will reiterate - it is not a disaster, abject or otherwise, if we don't trade ND2 for a star now. What we need more than an experienced quality mid right now is good decision making. If the MFC is more attractive 12 months from now then we can wait and see what players we can attract then. Nothing may be he best outcome. Not satisfying, but preferable.
  13. Salary floors are coming in now (the NBA have introduced one this season). We had one because Fitzroy was staying alive on 70% of the cap and doing nothing. As for our squeeze - it is more of a stretch, and Schwab ingenious answer was to frontloading contracts each year rather than over pay. I am yet to hear an argument for a better solution.
  14. According to his twitter he has been running for a while now, just came back from holiday and is getting into the swing of things right now. And we have to take some educated risks with talent. If we can get him for Pick 50 something or PSD2 then the risk is low.
  15. If the deal is decent - and he is willing, then of course you do it. We bemoan our lack of leadership and strong bodies to guide and protect our young players and then when the off-season rolls around we suddenly forget where we are and think we have the luxury of the same decisions that a Richmond makes. Get real. We can use a Brad Sewell for a few years.
  16. You're right. I misread what you said. But he is lucky in that he will get what all other teens draftees usually get - 2 years. He could have been told 'that's it, son' already... I hate the rookie list, it should be scrapped. Just have expanded lists.
  17. I don't know if it is bad, but it sure as he'll doesn't sound good...
  18. And that is why those that don't like FA should embrace what we have now; agents are pushing for removal of compensation, and restricted FA.Soon they will want to have FA sooner, and they will use the discontent from those who don't like FA to say that it needs to be 'improved.' The cat is out of the bag but the bag is full of tricks, as another poster pointed out - the NFL is where the AFL and the AFLPA look to for best practice but I wonder what the players will think about the lack of guaranteed money and inability to stop trades that is involved in the NFL.
  19. The rollovers are over, had to pay before the GF for MCC members. So the last few thousand have been The Roos Factor. And soon H_T will start his comparisons from previous years.
  20. Mate, I work in IT; you just hexed the entire board. Damn you, Titan!! Never gonna get Shiel now...
  21. Players don't want to come here because we are a running joke in the AFL at the moment. Inflate that percentage, play with some fire and belief, have a few wins and the wheel starts turning. FA doesn't care who you are or what your ladder position is, if you start acting like a competent club you can attract and keep good players.
  22. If he is keen on tw challenge he would be perfect to put next to Jack Viney.
  23. You mean 'fortunately?' And rookies have a 1 + 1 contract. Our own Dean Terlich was cut after 1 season. Good luck to a good kid. Let's hope he gets treated like more than a rookie under Roos.
  24. That article mentions Essendon not us.
