  1. This would be a nothing trade. We already have 7 spots to fill this offseason. Meh.
  2. If you got rid of the promise from the MFC, it would be hollow shell, an old ruin. All we have is promise unfulfilled. And Jones.
  3. No surprises. CC is a great Melbourne person and when you see him at the footy I hope you treat him with more respect than shown here. You don't have to buy him a beer but let me know where he is and I will. Jumped on a grenade partly of his own making (w/ the rest of the MFC and Adrian Anderson) and I thank him for it. As for Craig - I hope the payout was not substantial. I have no idea why he has gone to Ess. From bad governance to worse - frying pan fire comes to mind. Oh well...
  4. What do you think happens to it? It follows the pick it would have followed. It doesn't disappear.
  5. Seems a tad pointless. And you deny until they're gone.
  6. GWS should make a stand and take pick two for Shiel and send Adams to the PSD. It's about principle, people.
  7. Paid through the nose because that is what they need. Roughhead out of the ruck. We need a while mess of things so we can't entertain that sort of deal. And young Billy Longer? Where are your jibes now son? Talk to other clubs because you are not going to Hawthorn now.
  8. They feel as though teams will attempt to 'game' the system if they have a definitive guide of the compensation parameters. And the compensation is tied to where a team finishes because bad teams losing player X is worse than good teams losing player X. To have three of the bands tied to where teams finish is a good idea and helps to bring some equalization as bad teams require more help when it's best players leave than good teams.
  9. It's different, I will give them that... It gives a running head start to a prospective coach and allows them to learn of one of the best while being assured of their position. And 'the Assistant Coach flavor of the month' wears thin with me. So as long as they pass TimD's EQ testing and Roos thinks they know footy - bring him in 3 years early. Maybe we can develop some people for once.
  10. Why not? We begged out current coach to come to us...
  11. The PA should fight harder to get rid of it, do something for the kids who put their life on hold for a shot at AFL footy and get treated like an afterthought at most clubs.
  12. Frawley leaving next year will mean we get Band 1 comp and a top 5 pick most likely, or we trade or keep him as a RFA. If you don't know the FA rules, google them or search for a thread on here. Now back to the rumours...
  13. Agree. People always get ahead of themselves in October. We will move past players when others take their place. Welcome to reality.
  14. I think you do care how your opinion is rated on here as you continue to give it for our consideration. And your reaction to anyone giving a 'rating' on your opinion is not one of indifference... I think Roos will look at McKenzie and wish that the bulk of the list had the intangibles of this bloke. He will still be doing jobs for this club for a few years to come. I agree with DA that his 'job' shouldn't always be as a tagger.
  15. That net is too wide. The coastguard is worried about that net. I am now tangled in that net.
  16. The worst of all worlds really. If you are a team 'on the nose' your only hope is that a hall of famer grows up next to your training grounds and loves his mum so he won't leave.
  17. Put a ? after the title. I don't think it will be the role Mahoney is in, but I think we can keep him around in an overseeing role that will allow him to explore what interests him and allow us to do what interests us; namely keep him on the payroll.
  18. Try and leave that open perhaps?
  19. Well, their variant may be worth a look here however that does mean that players are on inflated salaries.
  20. Won't comment on the kids as I don't get any exposure to their leagues but I will reiterate - it is not a disaster, abject or otherwise, if we don't trade ND2 for a star now. What we need more than an experienced quality mid right now is good decision making. If the MFC is more attractive 12 months from now then we can wait and see what players we can attract then. Nothing may be he best outcome. Not satisfying, but preferable.
  21. Salary floors are coming in now (the NBA have introduced one this season). We had one because Fitzroy was staying alive on 70% of the cap and doing nothing. As for our squeeze - it is more of a stretch, and Schwab ingenious answer was to frontloading contracts each year rather than over pay. I am yet to hear an argument for a better solution.
  22. According to his twitter he has been running for a while now, just came back from holiday and is getting into the swing of things right now. And we have to take some educated risks with talent. If we can get him for Pick 50 something or PSD2 then the risk is low.
