  1. He doesn't have to sign now, there is no need for ultimatums now. Should we start acting like a decent club or should we just continue to act like the toddler of a club we have been these last 7 years? Play good footy, get players to want to stay, and don't fret the end is near when they do leave. We can meet his wage and trade him or get Pick 5 for him as comp.
  2. I am really sorry to correct you here but Colin was an UFA because he has 'played' at MFC for 10 years. 2004 was his first year. The top 10 earners rule applies to players OOC after 8 or 9 years and are not in the top 10 earners at the club; they are UFA. Sylvia was most definitely very well paid at Melbourne.
  3. You can think its Band 4, Band 5, Little River Band, Band-aid... I don't care. But don't give me the rhetorical flourish "I don't know we're that is coming from" - I have been boring this site for a year about 'where it is coming from.'
  4. Where is it coming from? Is that rhetorical? I think he is Band 3 as Pearce and Chaplin before him. Band 3 is the pick behind out 2nd round pick. About 24 when pushed out by other comp picks. That is where it is coming from. You can tell me it BS but don't tell me you don't know the logic. The logic is sound, the answer awaits.
  5. Yeah, sat-home, out problem is fan whingeing about the shite we have thrown up in the last 6 years... Do you read yourself? Are you Dr Who? You wanna fight about it? Am I drunk, maybe, who wants to know, I'm not driving I can do whatever I want.
  6. Yeah, guys, start a new thread and I will cut and paste stuff from the other 30 threads on it in the last 5 years. Actually, no I won't.
  7. I would like to see him given a small role to play after form and consistency for Casey has demanded that role.
  8. Again, the Viney situation is different to what we did with Scully and Trengove when we gave them these loaded numbers. And it completely different to an Evans wanting a lower number. Most blokes want to forge a career in a number of some meaning to them, whatever it may be. It is different to the MFC telling them to forge a career in a number of some meaning to the MFC.
  9. The fact that he hasn't played yet is no big deal on my eyes, frankly we have played kids for no reason these last few years and have ruined their introduction to AFL football and their confidence as a consequence. Get his body right and teach him how to play a role and we will see what 2014 holds for him. We still have a number of kids so he isn't helped in that regard.
  10. Titan - you are arguing something else to changing Jack to 12 from 7. He has his number and that shouldn't be changed. But what you are saying simply won't hold up. Evans was given 50. He wanted a lower number because most players want lower numbers or numbers of significance. He got 32. There is no crime in wanting a lower number after one or two years at a club.
  11. I think we are finding out that hiring a coach for three years down the track AND get someone that stands out. Eddie wanted Bucks. GWS targeted Cameron. Sydney chose Longmire internally. And Swapfox - it wasn't the media who said we are to sign a successor now. It was Roos and Jackson in the opening press conference. So we don't have a SA for a year. Roos doesn't need one and he can have some luxury of time for the decision.
  12. You're right. Now you allude to something other than whining that can be done - what do we do? I will get the DeLorean, you fetch your Flux Capacitor. Let's do this.
  13. Rucci is exposing his intelligence and footy IQ there. Wow. Who in their right mind thinks that Vince is worth a top 5 pick?
  14. Work harder and you can get uncontested possessions. That is an easy win next year as Roos gives the confidence. That will be where a huge improvement could see us back to where the 'pack' is. But hard ball is won by a certain type of footy player and it would be good if we used ND2 on someone with that skill set. I am sure they will be a hard worker, but if they cannot win their own footy they shouldn't be taken in the first few picks. Tupac Shakur. (That's just the way it is)
  15. I will add one thing to this argument - 'playing against men' also involves 'playing with men' and if the youngster in question is getting the ball on the outside because of bigger bodies getting it out to him then that negates the 'playing against men' argument entirely. Judge them on whether they can get their own footy, no matter what level they play.
  16. Ask me in three years if this was a successful trade period.
  17. That is the third statement of 'fact' from you about a trade involving Pick 2. Stop posting for a while.
  18. Same issue here... WHAT RUMOURS AM I MISSING??!! I will make one myself to calm me down; Jamar for Pick 2 and Stephen Colbert? No, that doesn't make sense, we have pick 2!!
  19. I hope you weren't one of the fawn dogs salivating over Simpson before he took over at WCE... Dew, or whoever takes the role, is allowed the luxury of a running head start under Roos. Whatever flavour of the month amongst assistants will come and go and we will groom this person for our own ends. There is no perfect way to install a coach. We have decided to Poach and Groom.
  20. You are putting a lot of stock into us getting this kid... What if he is settled over there? What if we don't like the price? If we haven't shut the doors yet, we are not going to call it quits because of a bloke called Viv...
  21. I would take Steven. Armitage and something else would be an idea.
  22. Dees2014 - I have little doubt that we are struggling to attract who we would like for pick 2. It's not the end of the world if we keep it but we are not attractive to experienced players and we will fail to attract who we want. We can try and improve by about 30% points next year and go after some experience next year. Our decisions are limited, I just hope we make a good decision.
