  1. I can certainly see your point, but: I would rather Pickett and Nathan Brown get games for Melbourne over Weetra and Garland because: a) They'll assist us more in getting the 4 points. Brown was in career best performance late last year, while Pickett potentially could've been A-grade for us (he was in early 2006) b ) Weetra and Garland are un-AFL like. The reasons we were getting spanked in round 1 and 2, was due to the lack of Bizzels, Browns and Wards. Good for the future but depressing for the now. I'm going to sit on the fence on this thread. While it's great to play the kids, I thought 2 of Ward, Brown, Pickett, Bizzel or Godfey should've been retained. Although Brown, Biz and Pickett retired, you would imagine MFC told them the writing was on the wall regardless.
  2. PJ got 18 touches on the weekend. Can someone confirm whether Jamar has accumulated that total in his 50 odd games?
  3. He got about 22 touches and 11 marks - ruck-rover stats which is impressive. However he un-did all his good work in the third qurter when it was his turn to take a contested mark deep in defence, but he heard (Jared River's) footsteps, and pulled out of the contest. White is still important to us, but some soft characteristics are developing into this game
  4. Geez thats rotton luck. Every time he gains serious momentum, injury curtails his development. I was just thinking earlier today on how impressive he's been this year, and that he feels as though he belongs at this level. Roll on Mark Jamar
  5. No worries Dean
  6. I wouldn't of thought so. The key to beating North Melbourne is a good start. The Roos play their best footy against bottom 8 teams, and invariably have a match winning lead by quarter time...while the opposition plays catch up footy for the whole game. If we can lead at half time by a few goals, I think we'll beat them.
  7. He ran [censored] loads more than 10 metres and it was on a 45 degree angle at the City end. I was there. Even if I over exaggarated, we've got nothing else positive to talk about at the moment.
  8. Add Richmond to the bin as well.
  9. Or even Brent Harvey??
  10. Loved his goal in the 3rd qtr, when he carried the ball about 30 mtrs and kicked truly from 45 mts out on an angle. That screamed to me class...something the majority of our players wouldn't be able to manage. Morton will hopefully be a major highlight of a bleak year.
  11. Best game Cam Bruce's has played since the early days of 2005 when he was polling brownlow votes. Instead of getting 30 touches and spraying half of them, he got about 18 valuable/effective touches from defence and occasionaly ran forward to kick 3 goals - like the class act he can be. Was also able to take a couple of crucial marks in defence. Well done! Bartram's tackling and pressure I forgot that was the reason why everyone rated him.
  12. Brisbane beating West Coast in round 14 2007 was an upset of massive proportions.
  13. The truth Rhino, is that my thread was more in jest and not meant to be taken seriously. But posters seemed to be offended by my light-hearted dig at Bailey. C'mon lets be frank, the Dees are quoted at $34 and Bailey comes up with the quote "we can win" - is worth a bit of a giggle, in my book. If the journos took this quote way out of context, or Bailey didn't even say it, than I concede defeat in this debate. I love going to see the Dees play, but after the last 2 weeks and seeing them in the NAB series against Geelong and North, I can't help but have a negative defeatist attitude. But at least I'll be down there. As for the game plan, I'm not qualified to suggest an alternative. However after seeing the North practice game in Cranny, I was mortified by the over use of (sloppy) handballs and the reluctance to kick the ball over any decent distance. There was one stage in that game where we were 35 metres out from goal, and 8 handballs later we transferred the ball up to the wing enroute to a turnover. I thought surely Bailey won't introduce this in the real season...and sure enough not much has changed.
  14. He made a couple of super courageous efforts against Hawthorn. However, he has basically run around like a head-less chook, fumbles too much, and is unable to chase his oppenents when the ball is rebounded out of our fwd line. Therefore he is not AFL standard at the moment. Give him time, but his selection at AFL level was generous and premature.
  15. The laughs will be back on Bailey when his team receives another flogging this week. We cannot and will not beat the Cats. We are devoid of the following: 1) Skills 2) Heart 3) Spirit 4) Communication on the field 5) suitable gameplan And finally we are playing a team that is out of this earth. Now before you guys bag me for not supporting my team...I will be there on Sunday cheering the boys on to the very last second. However there is no way on earth we will beat Geelong, so why does Bailey say "we can beat Geelong" ...because we simply won't. He should've just left it at "we'll be looking to be more competitive and aiming to play more than 1 solid qtr". - that is my contention.
  16. In - Aussie Out - Weetra. Makes perfect sense!
  17. 28 replies and no #36 Aaron Davey. He was all the rage a couple of years back.
  18. Exactly and he should've left it there. This quote reminds me of Peter Schwab announcing to all and sundry that Hawthorn will win the flag in 2004. He's had the most disastrous and embarrasing debut as a coach in recent times...why apply more pressure on himself?
  19. Say nothing at all. Or perhaps..."we'll be looking to be more competitive this week". Surely you don't believe that Bailey believes we have a chance. Nobody forced him to make outlandish calls like this one.
  20. Sorry but it makes him look foolish making these comments, considering we'll get flogged by 100 points. I'm convinced deep-down that a large percentage of players already know they'll lose before the first bounce. Did you not see them over the last 2 weeks. The sprit in this club has completley faded away. If they were playing Carlton, then it would be another story.
  21. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/D...px?newsid=57279 Oh dear And it looks like we'll be going all out attack, rather than flooding and tagging in order patch the scoreboard up
  22. Frawley should be carving it up at Sandringham, given he was pick 12 in a 'super draft'. If he's battling away at Sandy and just 'going'...it's not much cause for excitement there is it? Having said that he should be in the seniors over Garland. Cannot work how Garland has warranted a spot in the side over Holland and Frawley.
