  1. Looks like we've got a bit of an injury prone player on our hands.
  2. Very feasible. Sydney refuse to re-build, which you can understand. Dunno, I'm kind of warming to the idea of Luke Ball at 18.
  3. bullshite x2 On a side note, I've got a sneaking suspicion that Sydney may take him at pick 14. The reason being that Sydney have a strategy of always going for mature aged players. Plus they will have already spent pick 6 on youth. I'll be pretty happy with Ball at pick 18. Three top 11 picks and a proven mature age player that has won All Australian and a B & F. How many MFC players have won an All Aust. - James McDonald and that's it. Unlike other people around here, I don't care about the politics and how he's shun the club. All I care about is winning games, stop being a laughing stock and rising up the ladder - If Ball can assist in that area, the you pick him up at pick 18 -but not 11.
  4. Welcome to the Dees Joel (that's footy love, not man love) May you have a successful 5+ years at the club and I look fwd to seeing you at the G in 2011, rebounding from half back and hitting Davey on the chest enroute to yet another goal!!
  5. Perhaps the club had decided to start winning games again.
  6. More than happy with this outcome if the Dees regard Ball the best available at 18. I'm not buying into the politics and bitching. If Ball's going to help us rise up the ladder, you pick him up. However I doubt the club could afford Ball AND Macdonald.
  7. For some reason I reckon North will never win a spoon. They won't do anything special this year but win just enough games to finish 13th-14th. Infact I can see them finishing 9th-13th for the next 5 years. Just didn't stock up enough on high-end prospects before compromised drafts.
  8. I voted 15th with a 6-16 record. 2011 is when all the draft picks will start cooking and a 7th-10th finish could be feasible. I still have grave concerns about our midfield (the most important ingredient to winning a game): -16th in clearances - Moloney is our best midfielder (good player but shouldn't be a club's #1 ranked mid) - Despite his crap 2009, we'll dearly miss a fit and firing Mclean - Jones is 'say-so' - Trengove and Scully aren't ready to win us games yet. - Not sure if Sylvia is better suited to starting mid or high half fwd? Furthermore there were many games prior to the list management period where we were very much inferior, (eg- Essendon, Brisbane, Collingwood x2, Port, Hawthorn). Our general field kicking was at times deplorable, so this will have to improve drastically in order to double our win tally. I think 2010 is too early to start predicting double figure wins. Hope I'm wrong though.
  9. Or you could be as unlucky as the Minnesota Timberwolves. They selected an Italian chap at pick 6 who might not even set foot in the States - ever! The poor T-Wolves are sitting at about 1-12.
  10. Welcome to the Melbourne Footy Club Joel! http://www.theage.com.au/news/rfnews/macdo...8219881697.html Couldn't be happier if we use pick 1 on this ball magnet!
  11. Hoping Tapscott, Butcher and Melksham slide out of the top 10.
  12. Interesting call, condsidering we can't kick 10 goals a game.
  13. I wouldn't be upset if we got him on the cheap at PSD pick 1. It's not as if we're sacrifising a valuable draft pick and he's more proven than Thorpe and to a lesser extent MacDonald. However you'd imagine the Dees will take the common sense approach and let him head to Freo.
  14. Good call. It's kind of disrespectful to the clubs with picks ahead of Sydney. If we are going to 'trump' clubs in the draft, I'd rather we did it with Bradshaw than Ball.
  15. With regards to the original poll is there a both option? I'd love him to be one of those players that does the job in defence for 3 quarters, and then is swung down forward in a tight last qtr and be a wild card down there. I see him and Hurley (Ess) being very dangerous swingmen in the future.
  16. I agree. Talk of giving him a 1 year extension is way too premature. If we're 4-8 during the spilt round, then I'd entertain the thought.
  17. Jumping the gun on Martin IMO. The guy hasn't worked out how to kick a footy yet, therefore he's not in my "22" for the start of next year. Ofcourse Jurrah at pick 1 has been super and very lucky!
  18. Yeah wouldn't be surprised if they expect to get both Luke Ball and Taylor. Taylor at pick 34 would be nice for the Dees.
  19. Yeah the AFL draft should attract far more interest than cricket. The Luke Ball factor should make it even more exciting. Cricket is the most boring sport in the world. I get more aroused watching croquet than I do cricket.
  20. Firstly, I've been advocating the recruitment of Luke Ball at pick 18 not 11! Maybe the Dees are desperate to make a bold statement to the AFL community and pick up a high profile player at the expense of youth. Maybe they honestly believe Luke Ball at pick 11 is better than any kid. Maybe they're only seriously interested in 8 other players - and they may all be gone at pick 11. Maybe Scully and Trengove are that special that they more than make up for sacrificing youth at pick 11. Although I doubt Luke Ball will end up at the Dees, I'll back the club selecting Ball regardless of which pick. Jon Ralph (senior writer at the HUN) writes a more "pro Luke Ball @ Melbourne" story than Hutchy did the other day: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/adam...f-1225798382559
  21. I'm now over Luke Ball. I won't be arguing in favour of him anymore. If the club picks him at 18, great, but I fully expect the Dees to overlook him due to Ball openly stating Essendon or Collingwood. I'm also over Melbourne being linked to high profile players, all to no avail. Judd, Prismall, Warnock, Ball etc...
  22. Any confirmation of this? I can't seem to find any.
  23. Must admit I'm surprised that we're 9-20 against picking up Luke Ball at pick 18. I doubt we'll pick him up, but if we do I'll be interested to see if the anti Luke Ball scibes around here will be praising him next year if he has a good game.
