  1. My Collingwood supporting mate forever thanks me for the Dees beating Hawthorn in the 1990 finals as that was the only side Collingwood feared. Hawthorn swept Collingwood in the 1990 H&A season, including a late season 83 point flogging.
  2. That's also an underrated fact that we blew a massive lead against Hawthorn in rd 22 to only fall over the line and cost ourselves valuable percentage. Good pick up.
  3. They most certainly have not played in Alice and I dare say Darwin either. I'd probably rather play St Kilda in Alice than at the GABBA but they seem to have a knack of beating us anytime-anywhere.
  4. We did win 16 games that year without even getting a double chance. An underrated sliding doors moment occurred in the last round IMO. Geelong were leading West Coast all day at Kardinia Park and all they had to do was hang on and 3rd place/double chance was ours. Unfortunately WC kicked a couple of late ones to snatch the win and hence pushing us back to an elimination final. Had we finished third we would've played Collingwood at Waverley, the team we had an excellent finals record against in the late 80's.
  5. What a fantastic afternoon at the footy that was. My first ever final sitting in the old southern stand (just before it was demolished) in the beautiful September sunshine. A fantastic, gritty win although the Hawks came back hard. I was a bit young to remember but I assume the MFC faithful went home that day with genuine premiership hopes given that we'd beaten the raining champs twice in two weeks.
  6. For all his short comings he'd actually provide more to our forward mix than Hannan who plays about 7 minutes of footy a game.
  7. "AFL football won't be played in Victoria in 2021 if the state of emergency is extended by 12 months" Tom Elliott, 3AW, 25/08/2020
  8. Hopefully the opposite occurs next week. Saints have never played in Alice Springs while we’ve been playing there since 2014, and performed well there on the last 3 occasions .
  9. His problem is he always takes his marks on the flanks and pockets. Great that he gets a number of shots but hard to convert angles.
  10. Not to excuse yesterday as it was a poor performance and the club let themselves down. However, there have been 11 occasions this year where teams have come into a game on a 3 game winning streak. Only 4 of those occasions have resulted in the side winning their 4th game in a row. Statistically, we were most likely going to lose that game due to the up and down nature of this unprecedented season. Next week will prove once and for all if we’re any chop this year. We have bounced back well after our poor losses this year.
  11. I appreciate the efforts of posters giving votes after a poor performance but Hibberd can’t possibly go near any votes. His opponent was the match winner and he was also poor by foot today. I’m sure he’d admit that it was one of the worst performances of his career.
  12. No thanks. He’s been a circus for a couple of years now. Aside from Spargo and Pickett’s COVID’s indiscretions, it sounds like we’ve got a squad that has their head switched on, free from off field distraction and want this club to be successful.
  13. MCG. Give it to the very last minute. Cases will by sub 30 by mid October.
  14. Crozier is also a pretty good in for them. That’s fine, good to test ourselves against a full strength side. To borrow a modern footy term - football audit.
  15. Did he not kick 5 against the Dogs mid way through 2018?
  16. ^^ Nothing to do with the COVID 2020 fixture, but what a cracking movie that was eh Rusty.
  17. If he's playing it generally means we've hit an injury crisis. With that being said the club is going to have to be careful with the Freo game in Cairns off a 4 day break, so perhaps he might get a gig in that game if multiple defenders like Hibberd, Lockhart and Rivers need a rest.
  18. Jon Ralph indicated he would've been dropped regardless of being ill.
  19. And the fact that Geelong flogged St Kilda on a Monday and backed it up with another flogging over Port on the Friday. Geelong has ruined that excuse for everyone now.
  20. 12 months later at the same ground didn't end so well. The late S Clark had a set shot for goal after the siren with half the Essendon membership base on the ground to put him off. Alas he didn't make the distance and we lost by 6 points.
  21. Really hoping shortened quarters are a once off.
  22. Surely given that cases are heading in the right direction and us learning from our fatal mistakes between the first and the second wave, we''ll have games with 25-50% capacity next year in Victoria, starting from March or April. Not June as Wilson is fear mongering. We can't just spend the rest of our lives locked up.
  23. Please no to Preuss and Gawn. It clearly didn't work last year and i can't see it working this week against a slick and fast Bulldogs unit. T Mac should be played as the key forward/second ruck because he has the forward craft that nether of the 2 big blokes posses. Choose out of Preuss or Gawn (if fit), and if they prefer Preuss, then Gawn plays in a scratch match.
  24. English or no English, they're pretty healthy at the moment. Just missing a few mid rangers in Dureya, Cordy, Suckling and possibly Crozier. They have all their guns in so it will be a genuinely satisfying win if we can knock them off.
  25. Dodge a bit of a bullet weather wise. 19 and sunny in Surfers on Saturday. We're going to be having a bunch of warm games coming up in Alice and Cairns so it's good to avoid yet another heat affected game this weekend.
