Who are our rivals?
A few people have accused Carlton of not beating anyone of note. Last time I checked Bulldogs were a half handy side.

NON-MFC: Round 3, 2022
Brilliant post. puts things in perspective.

NON-MFC: Round 3, 2022
Just getting paranoid about Brisbane getting a ton of percentage over us, even if itโs early days.

JAKE BOWEY APPRECIATION THREAD.
Reminds me of Sam Blease. Just a little better.

NON-MFC: Round 3, 2022
Lions are clear second favourite to win the flag so I guess a 108 pt win by them isnโt ideal for the other contenders such as us. We must finish top 2 this year in order to avoid a GABBA prelim.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Essendon
And the bizzare thing about the crowd number was that in the same Friday night game in round 3 2019, we got 53K in our home game against Essendon despite both clubs starting 0-2 that year. The club will be disappointed by the number but COVID is truly keeping 10,000 away IMO.

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Port Adelaide
On the topic of ugliest wins, those with long memories might nominate the Brisbane win in 2015 at the G. 8.12.60 to 4.12.36 and we managed just 1.5 in the second half. Last night wasnโt one for the ages but Iโve seen far worse.

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Port Adelaide
Easy call for us Demonlanders to drop T Mac but who knows what Goody sees in him? At the end of the day heโs phased out Jetta, Jones and Melksham out of the side so T Mac shouldnโt be any different here.

VOTES: Rd 03 vs Essendon
99/100 times Brayshaw gets BOG for a 20 mark performance but Oliver was just too influential on the night. 6) Oliver 5) Brayshaw 4) Langdon- his GOTY nomination increased his rankings here. 3) Weid - you kick 4 goals you get votes. 2) Harmes - kicked 2 critical goals in the 3rd quarter. Good ones too. 1) Jackson - found it hard to give that last vote, but this guy is just dominating at the moment. May canโt get votes tonight. Wright dominated the game in parts.

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Port Adelaide
I canโt see BBB, Weid and T Mac all playing. So will the club have the guts to drop a senior stalwart in T Mac or a maligned key fwd who just kicked 4 goals, played his best game since the Geelong 2018 final and is crying out for some much needed confidence and continuity? Hard call to make next week.

GAMEDAY: Rd 03 vs Essendon
Certainly not the latter.

GAMEDAY: Rd 03 vs Essendon
He'll have his big moments and games this year but it's fair to say his engine hasn't started yet for the year, aside from the AAMI game.

GAMEDAY: Rd 03 vs Essendon
In addition to Weid, I wouldn't mind T Mac stepping up a gear as our number 1 forward. He hasn't played a game of note since the Port game in July last year. He's only averaged 3 marks and less than a goal a game since round 18 last year. As others have mentioned, really hoping BBB is available for next week.

Injury frustration
Petty's very injury prone. He chose a fantastic year (2021) to stay injury free.

NON-MFC: Round 3, 2022
Can someone advise why Weightmanโs so hated around here. The kidโs an absolute gun, kicks clutch goals and Iโd love him at Melbourne. A star of the future.

Why the inconsistent start times?
To cater for the late starting Adelaide V Port game.

What they are saying at Bomberland
I know we've come a long way since the early rounds of 2019 but I'm a still bit wary from Friday night round 3 2019 - Dons 0-2 and kick 20 goals on us.
-
What they are saying at Bomberland
Low 50's. Before the season started I expected this game to have a bigger crowd than the Dogs game due to the timeslot and Dogs fans don't go to the MCG. However not so sure anymore.

Max Gawn - Slow start
Last year he went off like a rocket in rounds 3-5 as he picked up 7 Brownlow votes. There might be a masterpiece just around the corner.

Farewell Luke Jackson
If heโs that keen to play in WA then I just hope we can eek out a final 2 year extension before he heads home. This would coincide with our premiership window being wide open for the 2022-2024 seasons. Perhaps after 2024 we might be heading down the other side of the hill in terms of contending and therefore the loss of Jackson by then might not hurt as much and we get some big draft capital coming our way. Desperately hope he re-signs for 2 years. Canโt see anything more.

TEAMS: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
Handy out I guess.

NON-MFC: Round 2, 2022
Look you're probably right and they're not quite a flag contender, but if they beat Hawthorn, GC (a) and Port (h) in the next 3 weeks then I'll start getting Richmond (2017) and Melbourne (2021) vibes about this group. I really do think they've built a contending list through aggressive trading/FA and generational player drafting in Cripps, Walsh and Curnow when he's out of the rehab gym.

TEAMS: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
Bedford's out of the starting 22. Dunstan can still yet replace Bedford as the designated sub.
-
What is wrong with Kayo?
It's more about GC than Melbourne. We are on channel 7 for 5 of the first 6 weeks so one can't really complain there. The Suns did not have an ounce of respect in the industry coming into the season and were accordingly given 0 FTA games in the first fully scheduled 9 weeks of the season. If the networks chose their games on a weekly basis, the GC V Dees games would've been channel 7 I reckon given GC won last week and have some positive press about them. And lastly, Fox Footy show more games than channel 7 each week, so it's inevitable that we'll be on Fox Footy from time to time.

NON-MFC: Round 2, 2022
Carlton have joined us, Brisbane, Sydney, Port, Geelong and maybe Dogs as a genuine premiership contender. Not sure what more they could have done so far this year and have another vital midfield cog in Cerra to come back in.
