  1. Yes please. The top sides who start pre season late might be disadvantaged, but they’ll deal with it.
  2. Lyon and Watson also interviewed him today. Too busy talking about fishing, the price of petrol etc, than tackling the big issues.
  3. If we were playing Richmond or Essendon I'd give us a hail Mary's chance of 80,000. However Dogs have a small supporter base and many of them simply won't turn up to an away game on a Wednesday night. That will reduce the crowd by a good 20K and neutral VIC fans that want attend multiple games will have 4 other choices of games to attend during round 1. 60,000 tops for this one. However, we'll get a bigger crowd for the Essendon round 3 game.
  4. I want to see us win one first at the G (as opposed to watching lockdown in 2021) and experience it first hand before I start getting magnanimous. After that, I'd choose GWS or Gold Coast as no one in Melbourne would really know or care it actually happened. A tumble weed went through the CBD on the night of West Coast beating Collingwood in the 2018 GF. Then I wouldn't mind St Kilda finally jagging one for their supporters.
  5. A couple come to mind. I'd have to rewatch every game to get a total. Remember when hit the post Vs Freo last year (round 1) at the punt road end when the man on the mark was 6 metres out from goal? Or the GWS game where we down for most of the day, and we needed Trac to hit a 30 metre set shot goal directly in front in the 3rd quarter to get us within 2 goals, but couldn't nail it. Champions of the game are relied on to kick those straight forward goals in a time of need. Every player is entitled to a weakness, and set shots from close range are an issue for Trac. That's fine. However my argument is that I disagree with the claim that Trac is easily best player in the league if he can't execute elementary set shots such as the one we saw last week.
  6. Trac needs to work on his elementary 30 metre set shots if he's to be considered the best player by some distance. Thursday night was another example of him making a meal out of an easy set shot. For the record he kicked 0.5 across the pre season games. Martin, Neale, Bont, Heeney, Wines, Steele etc..aren't missing the set shots that he does. Not saying Trac isn't as good as those above, but he needs to honor the work done up the field by nailing regulation set shots.
  7. Absolutely agree with your last sentence. Gawn is the one bloke at this footy club that busts his [censored] every single game from pre season game one to the grand final.
  8. Those that are crying foul about the 8 fifty metre penalties, did Carlton give any away? You’d think our boys would’ve gotten the hint after say the 3rd infringement.
  9. Unless Goodwin comes out today and confirms that the club had no intention to go full rat power, concede 7 consecutive goals, get smashed -23 in clearances, give away an equal record 8 50 mtr penalties and show a compete lack of detail to the 6-6-6 rule that’s been in the league for 3 or 4 years - then we ought to be disappointed with last night. Aside from Gawn, Fritta and Sparrow (2 nice goals) basically every premiership player that played last night was below their capabilities. Really disappointed in the talls in BBB and Jackson who both couldn’t grab a thing last night. T Mac looks a shadow of the T Mac of round 1-17 2021 but at least snagged 2 goals. Petracca cant execute a regulation set shot goal for someone of his talent and is yet to really turn on his engine for 2022. Would like Viney to be a bit more crisp with the footy. Hunt failed his rehearsal and for a bloke of his pace, he gets run down way too much (refer GWS last year). As mentioned by others, having 5 premiership defenders out no doubt upset the entire system whilst Carlton’s missing guns were spread over the field. At least they all stuck to their task in the last quarter to only concede 1 goal. A lot to work on including discipline and narrowing the possession and clearance differential, but hopefully we’ll be ok. Carlton looked slick last night and might finally be ready to take a big step. I can’t believe someone here bagged Cripps earlier in the thread. 38 touches, 4 goals and a class above any of our mids on the night.
  10. Pre game I thought Carlton’s outs were more influential than ours. However all are outs are from our backline whereas their stars are spread across the 3 units. That and we’re disinterested and comfortable where we sit as a side at the moment, while they’re going hell for leather to impress Voss (and they look impressive in fairness to them)
  11. It was a rubbish half aside from the first 5 or so minutes.
  12. Yep and we somehow lost to Adelaide last year when he was out injured.
  13. Not sure if serious or sarcastic but Burgo's a genuinely horrible loss and really bad luck on our part that he only left due to family reasons.
  14. Given it’s also on Foxtel I’d say yes for sure.
  15. I wonder if he sustained this injury during last weeks game or at training this week. He wasn’t himself against North.
  16. That’s a lot of our first choice defence out (May, Petty, Salem, Rivers, Hibbo) coming up against the best forward in the league.
  17. It will be on after the 7:25pm Fox Footy game. This show might be a slight upgrade on Dermie talking non stop for 50 minutes in the previous post Saturday night game show they had.
  18. Collingwood in 1991, Essendon in 1994, Adelaide in 1999 and Brisbane in 2005 come to minds as premiers that somehow missed the following finals series before the Dogs. Richmond also in 2021.
  19. I get what you are saying in terms of hungry fans as we head into the 2022 season, but there's absolutely no blessing in the majority of diehard MFC members missing their side's first premiership live in 57 years.
  20. Are they opening up the top level for this one or are all going to be crammed into the bottom level like last year.
  21. Correct. Cameron was held to 2 that night while Daniher, Hipwood and McStay managed just 2 between them. Bailey kicked 4. For the record, I like bits and pieces of Smith's game and he was excellent against Adelaide late last year. A good depth player that may actually sneak into round 1 and never look back if all goes right for him. I guess my point is that he's not suited to your smart and crafty Charlie Cameron small forward types, rather a taller forward. The question is with Jetta gone, who takes the premier classy small forward from the opposition? Eg - Cameron, Papley, Shai Bolton etc...
  22. Joel Smith is 11 cm taller than Cameron so from a height perspective, it was a poor match up. Smith was thrashed accordingly in that Brisbane final. The coaching staff need to consider who can take on Cameron in the 2 and possibly 3 times we play the contending Brisbane this year. Next time we'll be up against more fire power in Hipwood (who destroyed us in 2019) and McStay for more than a quarter. Therefore another 4 or 5 goals by Cameron may be way more costly next time as Daniher, McStay and Hipwood may also hit the scoreboard as well.
  23. Have we ever had a Carlton player come to us in the last 40 years? Seems to be one way traffic going from Melbourne to Carlton eg - Spalding, Brock McLean, Chris Johnson etc...
  24. 100% agree. Another 2/3 year while we're in our window is key, and if he leaves after that, so be it. Our window's not going to be open forever.
  25. Can’t wait to see the boys live for the first time since the GWS game. 27 degrees at bounce time. Watching our reigning premiers. What more do you want… Hopefully Fritta, Lever and Viney will be back and we can have a full dress rehearsal and hit the ground running for 16 March.
