  1. We also wore them against the Pies in 2019.
  2. Here is the lead up to every goal in the third quarter and you and other posters tell me whether Jackson was a contributor or the key reason why we won the flag: Goal 1 - Harmes intercepts, passes to Fritta for his set shot goal. Goal 2 - Oliver centre clearance from a sloppy bit of play from Stef Martin. Fritta on the end of it for a goal. Goal 3 - Trac clearance from a marginal hitout win from Jackson, for a BBB mark and goal. Trac gets all the credit for his blazing clerance. At this point BT asks Daisy "What's gotten MFC back in the game"' Pearce: They've rediscovered their dare, they're prepared to take the game on in the middle. Viney crashing packs etc. Pearce makes no mention of Jackson's influence to get us on level pecking. Goal 4 - Bowey's nice pass to Brayshaw from an inspirational tackle by Kozzie on Weightman. Angus nails a legendry set shot to put us in front. At the 3:35 mins left mark, Jackson gives away a free after a centre bounce to potentially halt our momentum. Goal 5 - BBB's long kick inside 50. Trac picks up an unmarked ball near the boundary for a goal. Goal 6 - English wins hitout. Viney wins contested possession, handballs to Trac, to Olicer to Sparrow for a long goal. Goal 7 - Jacksons lovely clearance to Oliver for a another long goal. Outstanding play by LJ. My contention is that Jackson's influence in the third quarter is a little overblown and we had many other players who did just as much as him to get us back into the game. And that his 2022 season has been underwhelming as evidenced by being named on the extended bench last Thursday which I'm reading it as a wake up call for him.
  3. I agree that he could’ve been given a second chance, and if Turner isn’t up to it yet and our defence is at sea, then we’ve probably made a bad call in hindsight. However on the other hand, he was comprehensively beaten last week against Sam Reid so the coaches presumably don’t have any confidence in him at the moment. He’s at the cross roads given his current pecking order in defence.
  4. I’m now leaning towards a win on the proviso that we address our inside 50 issues. Not sure how easily rectifiable that is in the space of a week? We played pretty damn well against Sydney from a contested point of view (after a poor Freo loss) but let ourselves down with our entires inside 50s with the McCartins and Co reading so many of our entries. We simply have to get on with the business without May. No excuses. The Goulding long goal with 4 mins left clearly punctured out tyres on reflection, after constant failed inside 50 opportunities.
  5. As I posted above, he was a contributor in the 3rd quarter. But we won by a very large margin. It wasn’t just he that turned the table. How amazing were Brayshaw, Trac, Oliver and Viney in addition to Jackson in that 3rd qtr.
  6. We won the GF easily. He was a contributor to a fantastic historic win. I’m sure we would’ve quite easily won the game without his services. We had 21 other excellent performers that day that would’ve got the job done without his influence in the 3rd qtr.
  7. Absolutely agreed. Neither West Coast or Melbourne are entitled to offer this bloke marquee money if he’s indeed asking for it. When he rucks, we lose clearance and midfield ascendancy. When he plays as a 3rd key forward, he can’t take a mark for someone of his imposing height. He’s averaging only 2 marks a game since Anzac eve. He was a major let down last week in a close loss to Sydney.
  8. Longmuir would be livid giving up 30 points in a quarter.
  9. And how’s his form been this year?
  10. It’s reported that’s he’s incredibly close/inseparable to one of his WA based brothers.
  11. They’re in the hunt as much as anyone IMO. She’s a wide open field this year.
  12. Purely based on form. One side is on a 3 game winning with two of those wins against a top 4 contender and a premiership contender. The other has lost two straight games to a top 4 contender and a premiership contender, on their home turf. Not sure why Melbourne supporters are so confident in winning this one.
  13. Not a chance we’d get that bounty for Jackson, irrespective of WA born Allen agreeing to leave his home state. Oscar Allen is an absolute gun when injury free while LJ has battled to take 2 marks a game this year. It would be closer to a straight swap with WC giving us a sweetener.
  14. If he wants to go, then sell high before the asset depreciates any further.
  15. If the AFL intervenes and gives May an extra week or 3, can someone suggest why the AFL allowed J De Goey to rip up round 1 despite spending a night in a NYC clink for alleged assault...
  16. Me too. Hopefully it's just a matter of dropping Tomlinson who had no answers for Sam Reid (who decided to play his first dominant game since 2015) rather than Turner replacing an injured Petty.
  17. Imagine how low on the table we'd be if we didn't kick 19.6 against GWS. Our first half accuracy was excellent last week, but we essentially lost the game in the third quarter with 1.5. We clearly need to take our chances when we play Brisbane in a couple of weeks given how 'dead eye' they've been this year.
  18. Agreed. People need to get their heads around the fact that it's not 2021 anymore. Apparently our defensive pressure which was the hall mark of last year has gone from elite to mid table or worse.
  19. Looking forward to a comment from Caroline Wilson in regards to the crowd of 21,000 tonight, in which the home side has the most members in the AFL. This is the same Wilson who bagged Melbourne for getting 29,000 against Freo, which was the highest ever crowd between those two sides at the MCG.
  20. Is Jackson a certainty to make the 22 given he’s named on the bench, hasn’t played a decent game since round 2 and is averaging 2 marks a game since round 6/Anzac Eve?
  21. Hasn't seemed to have worked.
  22. Mihocek in a bit of doubt with bone bruising in the knee. I think he kicked 4 against us last year.
  23. Any chance we can do a Geelong this week and beat a mid range team with multiple best 22 players out in addition to losing a gun defender mid game, without its defensive structure falling to pieces, and produce a character building win?
  24. I didn’t study Tomlinson’s game in depth last week but all of Sam Reid’s goals came in the first half, so he was able to do a reasonable job on him in the second half. Or am I giving him too much credit? Tomlinson played well in the early rounds of 2021 and 2022 as a key defender but May played in all those games.
  25. Don’t hold your breath mate. He’s been garbage this year.
