  1. With regards to us missing the finals, I checked the odds on TAB and they don't have us listed in that particular market. Collingwood are the least favourite at $15.
  2. The Gus and Gawny podcast is on the MFC website and is endorsed by the club, and Gibson who is employed by the club hosts it (or at least he did when he hosted the Bedford segment). So I think it would be fair enough to announce a potential re-signing on that forum. I'd even be happy if Andy broke the news on Demonland. Just sign GUS!
  3. From an overall perspective - Yes, because we've (particularly Victorians) all had a choice in whether we can attend games live. We may not win the flag in 2022, but I'm thoroughly enjoying going to games again as opposed to watching them in lockdowns and putting up with overrated mistake riddled commentators such as BT. On footballing matters, I think the standards that we expect of this club are possibly too high given the unbelievable September we had. We as fans definitely took the 10-0 streak for granted I believe. The mood of this forum reflected the unconvincing wins over the likes of Essendon, Hawthorn and North. If we had our time again, we probably should've celebrated the first half season wins a little more as a collective than we actually did, given the mid-late season hiccups we've had.
  4. Goodwin flagged in the postgame presser that BBB has a permanent knee issue. One wonders if he'll see his entire contract through?
  5. Pressure - 18th in league. Last year 3rd. Weideman worst in league for forward line pressure BBB second worst for forward line pressure Fritsch 9th worst for forward line pressure. There's a stack of other issues but what hope do we have with those stats.
  6. It's starting to look a like a "We'll learn from that" kind of year. Hopefully the hunger will return in 2023, because it's just not there this year. We're not digging in hard enough against the best sides. Dogs - out worked by a hungrier side. Bont willed them over the line. Who went that extra yard for us? Geelong - the ball lived in their forward half for the last 15 minutes of the game Collingwood - 6 goals to 1 last quarter Sydney - 4 goals to 1 last quarter Fremantle - Literally gave no yelp after Fristch kicked an early 3rd quarter goal.
  7. Even if we went 0-4 and Dogs went 3-1 but overtook us on percentage, one of the following would still need to happen for us miss finals: Richmond would need to go 4-0 and beat all of Brisbane (MCG), Port (AO), Hawthorn (MCG) and Essendon. Possible I guess but would be a tall order. OR St Kilda would need beat all of Hawthorn, Geelong (GMHBA), Brisbane and Sydney. I'd have St Kilda at a 1% chance of achieving that. If we ended the season 0-5 we'd probably have very little business being in the finals in all honestly.
  8. I have us winning 1 of the last 4 against with that win being against Carlton. Sure, we're capable of winning more but our record against the top echelon is poor. My projected top 8: Geelong 18-4 Brisbane 16-6 Sydney 16-6 Collingwood 16-6 Fremantle 15-6-1 Melbourne 14-8 WB 13-9 Carlton 13-9 Week 1 - Dogs at the G Week 2 - Travel to Sydney or Brisbane (if we win week 1) Week 3 - MCG prelim against Geelong or Pies (if we win week 2)
  9. They’re the real deal. Time to face facts.
  10. It’s going to be their year I’m afraid. How the heck did they pull that one out of the fire. Not to mention the 25,000 other close ones they’ve won.
  11. Excellent comeback by the Dons in fairness.
  12. We’ve been waiting all year for them to fall over though. This team has the defensive buy-in to make a grand final. Just like our commitment to defence last year.
  13. It’s going to be a Geelong V Collingwood grand final. Just lock it in now.
  14. Who can stop this team?
  15. Nothing surer than us going 0-6-1 in the “hoping team X wins”
  16. Walsh with an ankle injury.
  17. Firstly, I think at worst we’ll scrounge at least one win, likely against Carlton. We played good enough footy at times last night to suggest we’re a genuine top 6 side. Secondly, I expect (and hope) Geelong’s system to hold off the Dogs at Kardinia Park.
  18. What are the odds of us going 0-4 on the run home and Dogs OR St Kilda and Richmond going 4-0 on the run home? We’ll miss finals if that happens. If Dogs lose next week to Geelong we’ll probably unofficially qualify regardless of us winning another game.
  19. What are the odds of us going 0-4 on the run home and Dogs OR St Kilda and Richmond going 4-0 on the run home? We’ll miss finals if that happens. If Dogs lose next week to Geelong we’ll probably unofficially qualify regardless of us winning another game.
  20. Carlton may end up having a comfortable win over GWS but they appear to be a rung below the Collingwoods and Sydney’s of the top 8. Our game against them in round 22 is an absolute non negotiable.
  21. Any chance we could’ve played the safe option and chose the local boy in Hayden Young who is tracking towards being clearly one of the best players of that 2019 draft?
  22. Freo have a joke of a round 22 and 23 fixture in WC and GWS so we’re probably going to have to win 4/5 to finish ahead of them.
  23. I assume it was an innocent oversight by Taylor as to why he didn’t pull the trigger on this outstanding young “Victorian” talent back in late 2019.
  24. Dogs and Saints will be celebrating Richmond’s draw but how much worse is a Freo draw than a loss for us.
  25. Random observation: Anyone notice Daisy often laughs as she speaks even though she doesn’t find the topic funny. For example when she was talking about the unfortunate injury to McNamara (Melbourne’s women side) on SEN with Whately yesterday she broke into laughter as she was breaking the down the bad news. Not sure if it’s on air nerves or just the way she naturally talks.
