  1. Ok, this is perfect, fits my very busy schedule of relaxing perfectly. I will definitely post a training report for both days.
  2. I am going to be in Adelaide for the 2 games next week and thought I might wander along to training. Does anyone have any information about when and where the boys will be training whilst there?
  3. Is there anything more contemptible than a football journalist? They print blatant lies and untruths just to fill column inches, and contribute nothing to the game. Jon Ralph is the most contemptible of all.
  4. Numbers of the non regulars please. who is 22?
  5. I can't remember my first Melbourne game, we went to so many as a young bloke, either at the MCG or VFL Park. So many memories of wins and losses, but the first game I actually remember as a very little kid was of My crazy Essendon supporting mother taking us to the Junction Oval to see Geoff Blethyn kick his 100th goal!! I remember it clearly. Thank goodness I followed Dad to be a Dee!!
  6. Hi Everyone, excuse my ignorance, but do we still have pick 42? If we do, any ideas who we might be looking at?
  7. Am I the only person wondering if Koltyn Thorstrup is related to the Alby Mangels impersonating, wanna-be adventurer/explorer/publicity seeker Hans Tholstrup?
  8. So, looking at this, Melbourne currently has 5 draft picks in play. We will get something for Brodie Grundy, and I'm not sure if we will get anything for James Jordon and James Harmes if they choose to leave. We are losing, to the best of my knowledge, Michael Hibberd, Luke Dunstan, possibly Jake Melksham, Deakyn Jones, with Ben Brown and Tom McDonald on their last legs if they play. Is it just me or does it seem that rather than throwing all our eggs in one basket with Harley Reid, that the FD will be using every one of our picks to rejuvenate our list with pace and skill, or am I reading it wrong? Grundy, Hibberd, Dunstan and Melksham would have all been on good coin, so are we going to make a play at a free agent we don't know about yet because we have some cap space?
  9. I had a bit to do with Jeff after his AFL career, when he was playing basketball with his mates. Just a lovely bloke. Very sad.
  10. Have we categorically found our full forward, end of story? No what we have found is someone who has all the attributes we need who we can work with to make better. marks well, kicks well, mobile, chases and tackles well, good leading patterns, rarely out marked, brings ball to ground. He has it all, but is still a work in progress. He is still a baby, less than 100 games, so between him and Van Rooyen, Jefferson, Fritsch, Pickett, Spargo and Chandler, our forward line looking strong.
  11. Hi Everyone, I was planning to attend the Melbourne vs North game in Hobart next week, but unfortunately my wife is sick and we won’t be going. I have 2 tickets available if anyone is interested going for just under what I paid for them. They are premium seats in the Ponting Stand. They are yours for $100 in total. Please email me on [email protected] cheers.
  12. You’re right, he was good, but a couple of times he had the opportunity to hurt us today and his foot skills let him down. He did this too often with us. I wish him well, but not too sad he’s gone. McVee a much better option moving forward.
  13. If we take our Melbourne hats off, he should probably get 2, reduced to one with an early plea. Anything more is outrageous, anything less is probably not right. At the game from my angle it didn’t look too bad, on tv it looks terrible.
  14. Taking my wife to her first ever game sitting in the MCC section. She has only ever sat in the outer. My son is joining us. It’s my birthday so we are in town for the weekend. Hoping to celebrate with a big win.
  15. The issue at Melbourne for years wasn't that we couldn't identify talent, it was that we didn't have the structure in place, both within the playing group AND within the coaching staff to develop the players. Now, a player comes to Melbourne and has to do his time in the seconds. They don't get a game in the senior team until they are absolutely ready, which does drive some of us mad, but is the right way to do it.
  16. My son was only young when Liam was with the Dees. One day he turned to me and said “That Jimmy Lurrah is a good player Dad!” He will forever be Jimmy in our house!!
  17. Is this match going to be shown live anywhere? If yes, could someone please post a link. Thanks.
  18. Surely Lever will miss, he looked very sore. Apart from that, I think we pick almost the best team we can. Percentage will be important.
  19. A week later I went to a Sportsman’s Night with David Schwarz and he was categoric that Melbourne would win the flag.
  20. I'm not going to waste too much time on suggested ins and outs 3 days away from a game when we already have 2 players out with H & S protocols. A lot can happen between now and then.
  21. I was at the game at the MCG last year when GWS beat us. Melbourne were listless, flat and seemed disinterested. About a week later I went to an MND fundraiser night where David Schwarz spoke, and he categorically stated that Melbourne would win the premiership. When I said that I had been at the game on the weekend against GWS and they looked far from premiership contenders, he said that Burgess had really upped their training loads and that was why they were so flat. He said that barring injuries they would win and he was right!! I would like them to smash the orange maggots.
  22. I work shift work, generally the game times don’t worry me as long as I can get the train home after!!
  23. The Hobart Devils were an NBL team, and I would assume that they still have the rights to the name.
