The Cooper Hynes Thread
Could not agree more. Our first pick absolutely needs to be the quick, skilled mid field type to balance up the list. We need to go away from the âMelbourne typeâ of contested ball bull. Every player should be expected to go when itâs their turn, Windsor despite his frame a classic example. We need speed and elite disposal to sort out our mid to forward line connection issues. Taken way too long to address, this draft with itâs depth is the perfect opportunity to do so and imperative that we do now before Tassie comes in otherwise we are treading water.

Nathan Bassett to Dees as Forwards Coach?
Would prefer a forward coach that actually plied their trade as a specialist forward. Aces in their places. Same goes for players we need to stop converting defenders into forwards. Our forward line is dis functional and has been for way too long. There is no system.

The AFL Academies- Lions, Suns, Giants, Swans
I think we are at the stage now where the AFL should be diluting the priority access that Brisbane and Sydney to players. Both teams are now well established in their respective cities and have been consistently successful. I am OK to let Gold Coast continue as is as they havenât a hereâs anything yet and their academy is starting to develop local league players. However they should never have been given Darwin as a zone which was ours. Happy for GWS to continue to an extent as they need to make more traction in their market, however they should not have the Victorian Riverina as a part of their zone.

For those who underrate our 2021 premiershipâŠ
Not sure how anyone could underrate that win. If not for the result but it was the attacking intent that we played with on that day. Another reason I keep watching replays of that game. Would love to see more of that on a regular basis.

Brisbane 2024 Round 1 Pick
For no other reason than I hope it gets me a bigger tax deduction.

NON-MFC: Preliminary Finals
My take from last nights game is that whoever Sydneyâs forward line coach is I hope we are right into them with a godfather offer. The amount of space and separation they create for their forwards, the running lanes they create for good high percentage looks at looks at goal on a very small ground is amazing. They are a very well structured forward line.

Training Ground?
Ironical that a bloke that was disciplined by the club for doing burnouts in the Trinity Grammar car park on his way out from a pre season training session had an issue with training at Cranbourne where burnouts are a way of life.

Training Ground?
Itâs Ok Rab, youâre a good gers man. Scotland played it well, letâs be honest the Scots donât like spending money. Good on them.

Training Ground?
NoâŠâŠ.. we should never have bid for them in the first place. Millions wastedâŠ.again. We will need to rely on self funding and the federal government for a training base. Victoria is broke.

Hopes for 2025
I hope to see starting at this draft heavy investment in our midfield. I hope to see a huge commitment to the offensive side of our game. Should be our number 1 priority this off season. i hope to see or hear something concrete about a training base.

Training Ground?
We have also paid for Scotland to host the commonwealth games add that to the list.

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Disappointed to lose Nibbler, he was a good servant of the club amd I wish him well in the future. However Tim Lambâs job is to get the best deal for Melbourne. If that deal is with the Power then so be it. We are under no obligation to get him to the Crows.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
Agree with all youâve said. Want to highlight the Murphy Reid comment, that is exactly our problem. We need to diversify and get away from the âMelbourne Type of playerâ. The game has changed and evolved since 2021âŠâŠâŠâŠwe havenât as a club.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Cooper is a really nice kid and has a good frame. We have spoken to him but the club showing the most interest so far is Geelong.

Big shout out to Tommy Mac and also Kade Chandler for last night. A willingness to compete, work-rate, spread, chase, harass, energy. All non negotiables that I expect from my team. I donât expect us to win every game but I do want to see effort. Cannot fault these two last night. Well done!!!

Couldnât agree more. Our list management and match committee this year have been poor. Our list is way too too heavy with NQR talls. Why extend Schache, why then recruit Fullerton. KFW having to play at St Bedes in the Ammoâs because Casey is that tall, which leads to the next point. The cupboard is bare at Casey for pure midfielders. We lose Dunstan, JJ, Harmes and obviously and sadly Brayshaw. Instead of replacing Angus with a kid we go and replace with another tall. Nothing against Kentfield I wish him all the best but from a list management point of view a puzzling decision. Mids must be our focus this off season.

Youâd like to think so but we lost to West Coast and were a Kynan Brown tackle away from losing to North. I still havenât recovered from witnessing that first half of football in the Anzac Eve game against Richmond. That was the worst standard of skill from two professional sporting organisations that I have ever seen. Was a surreal feeling on the train home, it was like both teams lost. We have some good kids coming through. We need a mini reset and look towards the next window which is a few years away. We need to go to the draft and get some midfielders with skill, speed and a high football iq and go from there. The game plan also needs a massive overhaul. Everything about the Melbourne Football Club is conservative. It is a tag we need to shake.
