  1. Thanks for posting. Entertaining read. If we recruit Stringer that would just about be it for me. Wade Derkson. Never heard of him, sounds more like a porn star than a footballer.
  2. I would like to add “the Russian” Mark Jamar to that list.
  3. Well done to all involved, a great result all round.Beating Essendon and no new injuries. The kids are going to be alright.
  4. I don’t care who plays ruck as long as it is not JVR. Starting to hit his straps as that big bodied forward that we have been crying out for. Too important to risk him playing there. Happy for him to contest a few in the forward 50 as that is more a wrestle, further that the only time I want him to leave the forward 50 is at 1/4 time, 1/2 time, 3/4 time and at the end of the game.
  5. Thanks for Posting. From a Caulfield point of view surprised that Retschko wasn’t mentioned as a classy wingman. Absolutely gobsmacked that Marlon Neocleous wasn’t listed. A very bottom age exciting small forward one to watch for the future.
  6. Gee you’ve gone all Hawk Tuah (google or YouTube it) there. We’re not Richmond supporters we’re a classy bunch.
  7. Agree Dazzle, immensely talented and could have been anything. Unfortunately not professional off field. However that final against the crows where he absolutely left nothing out there and came off to an ovation absolutely exhausted I respect him for that. I was on the end of one of his 40 metre bullets. He laced me out in the Ponsford Stand end in that Troy Broadbridge tribute game against Essendon when he kicked that goal and kissed the armband. Clean hands too which was a great achievement as I was several cans deep by that stage.
  8. Trapper only played 49 games for Brisbane. Bonbeach is a hell of a lot closer to Melbourne than Brisbane.
  9. Last round of APS football was 15th of June so he has been available for Oakleigh Chargers selection since then. APS season resumes on 20th July.
  10. Tigga Johnstone is playing Under 14 football and has been selected for inter league team. Haven’t seen him play myself but apparently goes OK.
  11. Yes he plays football for Caulfield Grammar where to be perfectly honest he is an average player.
  12. Would hurt the suns more than us. Would be nervous if I was a Norf supporter, don’t the NT want their own AFL team. This could be the first step In a relocation. If that means we don’t have to play a home game at Alice Springs instead of the MCG I won’t shed a tear.
  13. Thanks for posting. Possibly a case of working harder rather than smarter. Ie our forwards constantly pushing so high up the ground to defend instead of being held back and do their primary role which is present and kick goals. Happy for them to defend our forward 50 arc but not the oppositions. Must be hard to kick gettable goals with all that lactic acid build up in the legs……..but,but,but that’s the modern game. Doesn’t have to be. It just takes a coach to be brave enough to hold forwards back in your forward 50 so win you do win a ball you can go quick in transition to multiple targets forward of the ball. And by Crivens don’t we look good when we do it and it’s great to see the scoreboard reward.
  14. I hear where you are coming from but if we bring another long term injured player straight into the team without a hit out at Casey I will lose it. Our player management / selection this year has been horrendous and I think will ultimately cost us a finals spot. Petty, Salem, Bowey, Fritsch, McAdam even arguably Clarrie as examples rushed straight into the team after long injury lay-off or limited pre season and have been poor. The whole of the match committee group need to have an honest review of their year.
  15. The only change I would make to the side is Petty out injured / managed for Fullerton. We need to first have a look at Fullerton and see what he looks like in the team, we cannot continue to use JVR in the ruck. Starting to really hit his straps up forward and we need to find a way to keep him down there. Like the effort and intensity I saw from the kids need to keep playing them. Kynan needs a proper run, not two cameos. West Coast is as good a team as any to give him that proper opportunity. Jefferson next cab off the rank.
  16. DeeSpencer 23,632 Posted 23 hours ago AMW for whom? Bowey? Howes? Salem? They all have to be options. Or play him as sub. Kynan Brown can go back to Casey and push his case for a full game when he's more ready. Once again I don’t disagree, I also thought Kynan was fortunate to gain selection on Saturday night given his body of work at Casey and I personally would have selected AMW. However Kynan was given the nod came on for the last 8 minutes and laid a game saving tackle. I say it would be poor player management to drop him to Casey on the back of that as you have suggested in the original post that I was replying to. Now you are saying tell him he will be sub as a minimum against West Coast. So he’s in, out, in. He’s not a Randy honeymooner he’s a young footballer. What would that do for his confidence and development. He has to stay in the squad even if he is the sub again. I also think that AMW’s good form cannot be ignored and he deserves and opportunity. For me he comes in for Salem who is being “managed” whether it be knee injury or form. Lever to come in for Tomlinson who is a bit unlucky.
  17. Agree with all your points except the last. You cannot debut a guy as sub who is a father / son and passionate demon supporter, bring him on with 8 minutes to go, busts his [censored] unlike some in the team and lays a game saving tackle and then send him back to Casey. I know our player management / selection has been questionable but that would be a new low.
  18. Geelong have a de facto academy in the Geelong Falcons in the Coates League. They pick up a lot of free agents or trade for players on the cheap to come home. No other Victorian club has this leg up. The argument you put up about lifestyle is also correct. As for Sydney. They have been up there long enough now and have well and truly established themselves. They should not be benefiting from the ability to draft recruit Academy talent without some restrictions. No wonder they haven’t bottomed out for years.
