Training Ground?
Used by Caulfield Bears who play in Southern FNL. I think Caulfield Park could be a good solution for Caulfield Grammarians to relocate to but you would have to sweeten the deal for them. Not sure that they would want to relocate but I guess everybody has a price.

Training Ground?
In light of the recent sad happenings in Melbourne I am not sure that Mt. Scopus would be keen on shared facilities. One solution is that they take over Glenhuntly Oval which is currently being used by Caulfield Grammarians in the ammo’s which would give any Scopus its own exclusive facility. Council would then need to find a home for Caulfield Grammarians which could possibly be a facility swap with Ajax with some sweeteners involved.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 2nd December 2024
Thanks to all reports from the track watchers. It was music to my ears that Chaplin wants constant movement and is working on running patterns and blocks to create separation for our leading forwards as well as smalls getting front and square. Great to see defined roles for our forwards as we have always had the talent down there we were just dis functional. The missing piece of the puzzle is speed of ball movement and holding some forwards in our forward line not pushing so far up the ground. This will also assist with speed of ball movement as we will have a target to kick to. Really happy with our off season moves and drafting / trading. Bring on 2025.

Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent
Saw Tairon on Sunday at Stingrays testing day at Seaford. He has a younger brother Corey that is going to be bigger than Tairon. Both big boys but at this stage are gentle giants. Coaches want them to assert themselves a bit more physically.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Thanks for posting. Interesting read. A couple of Anglo Saxon sounding names in the Hawthorn and St.Kilda Next Gen Academy, yet we are ineligible to take Tairon Ah- mu as an academy prospect. Hope we challenge it.

2024 Phantom Drafts
I am on the record as saying we need to bolster our midfield stocks, however I would like balance with our picks. Happy to take a bull with one pick but we desperately need a bit of speed and silk. I still stand by that, however I am not calling out the names. Given the connection could JT go Langford 5 and Hynes at 9? Both interchange with each other at Stingrays. Both seem to be JT type players. Have the flexibility of playing mid and forward and both only 4 and 5 centimetres shorter than Armstrong with better hands and physicality. Both also know where the goals are and are leaders with good character. Cooper injured his ankle towards the end of the season, nothing too serious though. No indication given where we would take him. A good question but in a very even and deep draft I don’t think 9 is unreasonable and being runner up in the Morrish medal supports that. I just didn’t think he was getting enough respect. Murphy Reid is another one that I personally feel is not getting enough respect.

2024 Phantom Drafts
Not getting enough respect in my opinion. Runner up in the Morrish medal behind Lindsay. Club co-captain. Best mates with Langford, could JT pull the trigger. Have met him a few times as he is from down my way and is going out with a girl I coach. A good size and frame also a real grounded, level headed kid. Yes we have spoken to him several times.

Results of Club Reviews
It’s only early days but FWIW I think Brad Green is doing a fantastic job. Certainly getting on the front foot, great communication and there seems to be a plan. Finally actions and not just words from the club. I feel confident we can turn things around quite quickly and it will translate to on field success.

The Harry Armstrong Thread
So essentially no traits that demand “must pick “ in the top 10. If we pick him with 5 or 9 I expect a meltdown on Demonland that would make Lidia Thorpe blush.

Will he solve our midfield - forward connection issues. Probably not. Thanks but no thanks.

The Harry Armstrong Thread
Nothing against Armstrong but we have lost Brayshaw, Harmes, JJ, Dunstan etc and we replaced them with?????The midfield cupboard is bare at Casey. You can have JVR, Jefferson, Armstrong and Jesus Christ in our forward line but if we persist with slow ball movement and blindly bombing the ball into a congested forwardline I don’t care who you are, you are going to struggle to score. And we do. I get where you are coming from it is a bit of what comes first the chicken or the egg. I think we need midfield depth with quality ball users. We have the personnel in our forward line to get the job done, however there is no doubt we need a better system down there or players having clearly defined roles and they need to be made accountable for playing their role.

Time to go Goody?
Agree and that is my point. We absolutely get there. Further to that we need to finish high enough that we host the game at the MCG and win it. That is the pass. Goodwin has to be the coach under the most heat in 2025. You can’t go Premiership, out in straight sets in Melbourne two years in a row to not even making finals and not be.

2024 Phantom Drafts
Absolutely agree. Everyone in the AFL world knows we have midfield- forward line connection issues. Goodwin has admitted it. With our draft hand we have a great opportunity to finally do something about solving this issue which has held us back over the last few years. I genuinely hope we get two midfielders with picks 5 and 9 but they must be balanced picks. One of those picks must be elite by foot, speed, X factor. I hope Smith is there at 5 and is our first pick. If not then best midfielder available at that selection eg Langford, Lalor, Smilie. Would love Draper but there is no way her gets past the Crows pick. Pick 9 if we get the big bodies mid at 5 should be Lindsay, Travaglia, Reid. Our midfield is same, same. We need someone who can consistently hit that kick into the forward 50. Someone that can break the lines and make good decisions with ball in hand to solve the connection problem which has been an anchor. We are a contest, defence based team. JT and Goodwin love the big bodied mids. The selection of Windsor last year with our first pick gives me hope that we go away from the “Melbourne player” of the contested bull. It is time to balance our list, we have a great opportunity to do so and I hope we take that opportunity with both hands. If we can get our disposal efficiency up into a functioning forward line we can turn things around very quickly. It’s time to fix the missing link.

The Harry Armstrong Thread
Nothing against the player personally but I would be extremely disappointed if we used pick 5 on him. Mids, mids, mids please.Even with pick 9 would prefer others. We have Jefferson and Kentfield who replaced a midfielder. Let’s get some balance on our list.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
We need players that can consistently execute the most important kick in football, that kick into the forward 50. Plus a potential flight risk. An easy pass for mine.
