  1. Be interested to know who our strength and conditioning coach is. Brisbane look yards quicker and covered the ground so much better. We look like we were running in quicksand. Bannan has lost yards of pace. Other players we recruited because of their athletic profile look anything but athletic. In previous seasons we have had speed and could go the distance but were not as physically strong as your Crows, Lions and Roos. Have we focussed on bulking too much. To me we look unfit.
  2. Stinnear needs to even up the numbers in our forward line.
  3. If it’s ANY small forward. The only IF is IF we don’t draft one we are being borderline negligent.
  4. 6/ Hanks 5/ Heath 4/ Zanker 3/ Wotherspoon 2/ Fitzsimmons 1/ Harris Apologies to Hore and Gillard
  5. Tyla Hanks one of the best individual quarters of football that you are likely to see. A star of the game and should be an all Australian.
  6. Look too top heavy with Zanker, Harris and Gall playing forward. Geelong waltzing the ball out. Forwards need to play in front, talls need to crash packs and get ball to ground. Geelong look up for it but should drop off as the game goes.
  7. With a vision of King’s game plan and with the introduction of new rules where the AFL are hell bent on speeding up the game. Combined with list need I have a wish list of Pick 7 Grlj / O Taylor Pick 8 Dovaston We need to focus on players who use the ball well, the raw speed and agility a huge asset with scope to go through the midfield in time. All players can defend but it’s the offence that they can generate which excites me and would fit into our side and help us impact the scoreboard significantly.
  8. Think I’d rather get wet than stand under an umbrella with someone called Slarti-fart.
  9. This constant linking Melbourne with Key Forwards is lazy journalism. Do some research.
  10. Have to trust JT here. I think we have a real need for a small forward. Have to decide who is the best small forward Dovaston or Sumner - Pickett. This aint Mills and Boon. No time for romance. Then come up with a plan to make it happen.
  11. All clubs do it including Melbourne. Children that are registered players in an AFL South East Competition which include Frankston and District Juniors, Mornington Peninsula Juniors and South East Juniors can get a membership of either Melbourne or St.kilda as part of their zones. I get one for my daughter but she is also a paid member as well.
  12. Any danger we could focus on incorrect disposal
  13. Couldn’t agree more. The only type of forward we need is one who’s mother was a pack a day smoker and stunted his growth. We also need that connector upfield that can hit that most important kick in football, the kick into the forward 50. Hope we get Dovaston very creative by foot and hand with a good work rate and gets to the right spots. I really like his soft hands, nicely weighted handballs to the advantage of a teammate. Nothing like the rockets that we fire at the feet.
  14. Agree again. At very worst had to be a ball up. Umpires don’t have a feel for the game or game sense. There is a massive drop off in umpiring standard from AFL to AFLW and VFL. Massive swing in interpretation and implementation of the holding the ball rule last night from every round so far this season. Players had an eternity to get rid of it last night, I also question the legality of how Brisbane were also getting rid of the ball. Overall I do think Brisbane were better for longer last night and was probably the right result. Their inaccuracy left the door ajar.
  15. Agree Liv Purcell is a massive loss. Now means that Hore needs to spend more time in the midfield, she is that sniper around goal. Beasley back may help or get Mackin in there.
  16. 6/ Hore 5/ McNamara 4/ Gillard 3/ Chaplin 2/ Heath 1/ Zanker Special mention to Georgia Campbell who just tries and works everytime she is out there. Her effort is unconditional.
  17. Too much is left to too few consistently. We haven’t really nailed our last few years of drafting, particularly our early picks. I really don’t like to single out players for the wrong reasons but I am becoming increasingly frustrated with Alyssa Bannan. A high draft pick that has been in the system a while now who is a good size and blessed with elite speed goes missing far too often and needs to do much more. Very talented but picks and chooses too much for me. I personally would drop her to send a message. Can’t keep relying on Zanker, Harris and Hore for your score sources. We need to find a good forward to play that small forward role to be that sniper around goal and apply forward pressure to lock it in our forward line. Comes out too easily. Not sure Pissano is the answer here either.
  18. We are crying out for a good small forward.
  19. There may be some truth to what you say but quick ball movement (even a chaos ball) into a forward line where we weren’t outnumbered would have been a good place to start. King has already identified that thankfully and I look forward to seeing how we go.
  20. Agree we need to be organised and we’ve had plenty of time to do so. Hopefully they working hard behind the scenes and a positive announcement will be made soon. I still believe 2 years is feasible as we shouldn’t encounter the environmental issues that Hawthorn did causing delays. Unlike Hawthorn we also aren’t building a facility that will host VFL and AFLW games so our construction needs will be reduced. Plenty of room in the middle of a racetrack to store a few excavators and scaffolding. Hopefully the state government stays out of it and we can choose our own contractor for the build.
  21. Hawthorn turned soil at Dingley in February 2024 and are about to live in. A site that required a hell of a lot more work than say Caulfield as it was built on landfill. The canvas is already there at Caulfield ready to paint. Two years seems more than reasonable.
  22. Further to that was Rays captain this year. Over the course have the last month have seen him regularly doing extra work with the Rays strength and conditioning coach in preparation for the draft combine. Tauren Ah- Mu and Callum Smith were also a part of these sessions along Mizuki and Nalu Brothwell who may get picked in the AFLW draft. I never saw Toby Sinnema, will try and find out why. Hoping it’s because Melbourne have already committed to him.
  23. Has played inter league for Frankston and District Junior Football League in their division 2 team. Not named in best and didn’t get on score sheet. If he is to make it next year is a big year for him where he could play with Stingrays futures and also V Line cup for AFL South East. To be really honest though I wouldn’t have high hopes.
