If it can be used by a number of clubs in different codes, not Collingwood or Richmond, but other sporting clubs.
then the political pain or gain is spread over a far wider audience and can be more easily justified.
rather than to be seen to be favouring a self righteous Liberal voting MCC offshoot.
whether that last comment is right or wrong is not important. It needs to be seen as equatable within the Labour Party membership.

    like living in Warrnabool area.

nothing gets done down here because the area always votes Liberal.

Libs don’t have to do anything

and Labour gets no benefit if they do

because the area will still vote Libs

    go Dees B2B in 22

I've always wanted to see a chart of house price rises in marginal seats v safe seats.

The marginal seats get preference in infrastructure.

Interesting that Jack was the only player to remonstrate with Daniels for flipping Max over the boundary line.  Again, its the little things that make big moments.

Anyone else get the feeling that Petracca was about to refer to Daniels as a 'midget' but hesitated long enough to say a '5'6" player' instead.

I look forward to booing him on Wednesday.

I believe he’s playing in their VFL team, so he may still get the chance to shine on the field as well as off.

I don't know whether I would laugh or cry if he got a call up for them as a Covid top up player.

You both make valid points about vaccination and transmission.

This is not an argument about the efficacy for keeping people better off and out of hospital when they get Covid.

I just think that all the evidence suggests that the vaccine doesn't mitigate against the spread.

I encourage you to look into the furin cleavage site (fcs) not a website just the scientific name.

There are a sequence of 19 nucleotides within the approx 29,000 in Covid that make it highly contagious between humans. HIV has a similar sequence and after decades we still can't stop the spread with vaccines but we can with anti bodies.

Moderna took out a patent on the sequence 3 years before the first reported case of Covid. They don't know how to stop the spread yet but they will work it out and it will work for HIV, Sars and Ebola.

It reduces transmission. Info confirming this is available on the health.gov.au site ... if you'd bothered to (really) look.

"a marked reduction of transmission following vaccination".

If you bothered to post the link it would be more credible.

This far into this and you still think 'the vax doesn't stop the spread'

    Good lord.

Of course it is possible to get covid if you have had 2 vax, or even three.

BUT you are MUCH LESS LIKELY to get it..

That's to say vaccination co tinges to provide some level of protection.

So if I go to the pub and I'm yarning to someone with covid about the dees going to back back I am far less likely to be infected. Coz I'm triple vaxxed.

If I don't contract i don't infect my mate who I've visited to yarn about the dees going to back back

So that helps stop the spread.

This from our gov health website. No mention of the vaccine stopping the transmission

    https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/approved-vaccines/how-they-work

    How the vaccines work

These vaccines will protect you from getting severely ill or dying if you get COVID-19.

The vaccines train your immune system to recognise and clear out the virus, before it makes you seriously ill. Your body's immune system builds this protection over time.

You are best protected 7 to 14 days after your second dose. Your booster dose helps restore and extend this protection.

The virus that causes COVID-19 (called SARS-CoV-2) has spikes of protein on each viral particle. These spike proteins allow the virus to attach to cells and cause disease.

The vaccines help the body to:

    • recognise these spike proteins as a threat
    • fight the coronavirus that has these proteins.

    Yep.

The same rules as for pubs and restaurants - the logic being that in those environment people are sharing a space for extended periods so the risk of transmission is high.

So, the fewer unvaccinated people in such environments the better - for them (coz they won't get covid and get super sick) and more importantly vaccinated patrons  (coz unvaccinated people are more likely to have covid).

    I don't get the logic.

I'm double vaxxed and have had covid. All the data suggests that if you are double vaxxed you are much less likely to get severe symptoms, go to hospital or ICU. I had mild symptoms and that is more than likely due to the vax and also the Omni strain.

As far as I can determine the vax doesn't stop the spread. So it makes no difference to the person next to you if you are vaxxed or not. The responsibility is on the person themselves to get the vax done and they shouldn't worry about people around them.

The only reason I can see for mandates is to keep hospitalisation rates down and have as many beds available for those who need them.

    I do.

    But each to their own

I went, and watched  the replay for good measure, and thought he was super impressive.

In my opinion comfortably ahead of Tomlinson at this point.

Easy to forget he played in a semi final and would have almost certainly played in a prelim and grand final if not for his hammy nick

My mail is he would have played or at least been sub if May wasn't going into the GF with a grade 6 hammy issue.

We couldn't go in with two suspect hammy's even if Smith's was graded much better at the time.

I think most of these lists in the lead up to the season will have Petracca as #1, but I think if you polled Melbourne fans most would have Oliver as our best.

Is his dominance somehow underappreciated amongst the football media?

Isn't it refreshing that we have a midfielder rated as the best player in the league and he isn't even the best one at Melbourne.

  10. I just saw the highlights on the news. Clarry kicks a replica of his bang bang bang goal.

He kicked exactly the same goal in the last round against Geelong as well.

    It's becoming a trade mark.

If he continues this trend I don't think it will be just Melbourne supporters saying he is the best midfielder they have ever seen.

  11. Oliver fixes up Bont in our serge to our first premiership in 57 years. Not only does he negate him when it counted most he also dominated himself at the same time.

Lots of posters say nobody surpasses Flower. We will find out in the next few years and my hunch is Oliver will.

When we drafted that fat redhead kld way too early in the draft there is not a single poster on Demonland who could have imagined we would be trying to compare him to Flower a few years later.

This is his big contract year. I don't blame him for holding up till the e d of the year. He seems like such an important part of the players friendship both on and off field.

This will get done late in the year.

Hunt is the interesting one in my opinion. Free agent will have suitors. It may be that the club deliberately low balls Hunt to encourage him to move and get am end of second round draft pick in return. This would also free up the cash to keep Brayshaw. Just Mt thoughts. I understand if some find this topic unsavoury at this point of the year. Hopefully Hunt would get the premiership medallion this year after being very unlucky last year.

I would be very surprised if Hunt left. His uncle played for Melbourne and Hunt has his locker. He is Melbourne through and through.
