  1. Alot rests on what happens against North.

Clarry looked amazingly like being Clarry before he broke his hand. He could turn it around quickly.

Petty looked like Carey against Geelong. I don't buy into the checked out narative but he needs to be dropped to regain the confidence.

Lever will be back soon and our defence will be boosted with him and May's ribs back to normal at around the same time.

I'd role the dice and play Kozzie as a midfielder resting forward pocket. We need to be more dynamic.

Have a crack at North this week and see if it clicks but if it doesn't don't make North's mistake of missing Harley Reid. Nose dive.

  2. I don't think the situation is as dire as most. Watching Sydney last night their midfield, particularly Warner are dynamic. Kozzie brings that in spades but he needs to be a full time midfielder.

Rivers and McPhee to spend extended time there rotating with Salem.

Oliver will come good again but he and Viney can't be in the centre at the same time as they are at the moment.

Our Trac record of managing players injuries needs a major overhaul.

We wouldn’t have this anger towards Maynard if the AFL had rightly suspended him for 3 weeks and he would have missed out on a premiership medal and potentially Collingwood wouldn’t have even won the flag.

The more i think about it the more i wonder if the Petracca Maynard warm handshake was sought out by the AFL. The AFL are culpable in this and that was a massive win for them. It was obvious the entire football world was going to be watching Maynard before the first bounce. Stage managed?

  4. Dees will win tomorrow. I'm not one to bag any Melbourne player but Fullerton didn't excite me last week against Coburg. If he was winning the ruck today, Collingwood got nothing tomorrow, not even Mason Cox to throw his knees and elbows around erratically causing maximum damage and somehow avoiding suspension. Max will drag us over the line take it to the bank

Sesto, Will V and Jeffo are out there. I just spotted Luker. Huge solid “kid” wearing #44 They’ve only just started training yet he looks like he’s been with the boys for years.

Hopefully we drafted him for this game

    WHERE WAS OUR CLUB?!!

WHY DIDNT PERT BEELINE TO THE ASSEMBLED MEDIA AND SCREAM: WE EXPECT 12 WEEKS THIS IS NOT A FOOTBALL ACTION

our absolute emasculation is why I haven’t paid my membership ($500) this year and probably won’t for a long time

Goodwin went hard straight after the game in the press conference

  7. The Melbourne Football Club have been pioneers in football we invented the game, invented the father son rule with Barassi, started the Irish experiment,  got the womens game off the ground lead by Daisy who is now a team mascott, changed our name first to an indigenous one on the back of Whelan.

I have a feeling we will be the first supporter base to cheer an opposition player rather than boo them when we play the Bulldogs and Darcy goes near it.

I've really enjoyed watching Casey in the last few years but just haven't watched much this season.

The fact that it seems like AMW maybe the only one right now who could step into our AFL right now is quite disturbing.

In years gone past, you could see similar game plans and systems across both teams and a number of potential candidates pushing for selection.

Casey's performance this year is really setting alarm bells off for me

We've had a few players step in and surprise ala McVee and Rivers.

Adams could be the next. He has a physicality about him. He had someone try and sheppard him right in front of me and chose to run through him rather than around. The bloke was big and would have weighed more than him it was bone crunching.

He also took a really nice pack mark and nailed the subsequent kick really quickly.

I think he might transition well into AFL. He will play before Jeffo and Jeffo showed a bit.

Already staying with tholstrup. They sort all this stuff out pre draft

Besides the fact they don't tell the player or broadcast the pick prior to the draft.

Except when Judd's grandmother was going to host him when he came back to Melbourne.

Having watched a fair bit of that game I can say I now understand why we have picked a KPF/ some time ruckman. Those prospects are not it. Max was playing at senior level at their stage of development.

JVR is so far superior in the ruck to Fullerton it's not funny.

What’s the good word on AMW? he gets a lot of it but how are his positioning, tackling and decision making? they are the things that will get him a gig in the ones

could he realistically take someone’s place on the HB line, if so, who’s spot.

thanks in advance for the insights

I watched Casey for the first time live in years and had read AMW's stats get inflated because he keeps playing on from kickouts. He did get a few cheap kicks but i thought he was clean and showed a bit. Hard to judge how damaging he is off one game when were woeful but he made some good decisions and looks promising. I can see him slotting in at AFL level and fitting in

Hard to get a handle on VFL form given where Casey is as a team.

    This.

Coburg were playing for each other. Enthusistic and up for a fight. I went to their huddle at 3/4 time because i was over Casey and they were imploring each other to celebrate goals and get around each other in moments that count.

Besides Kolt we were a team of individuals with little care for our teamates. I mean that in a team spirit way. AMW and Jeffo showed enough to give hope.

    Very dissapointing.

I'd be more positive if Gentile was on our list. Gave Laurie a footballing lesson.

Pretty amazing contested game from Nick Daicos. Any small lingering doubt about his work in this area, now completely dispelled. He's a tremendous player.

If he stopped throwing his head back, lifting his arms when he gets tackled and sooking to the umpires all the time he would be enjoyable to watch

  14. I've said it in the game plan thread it's obvious what we are doing doesn't suit us. That doesn't mean it's wrong to trial it and add that play to our game.

We will SWITCH back to our proven formula in the run home. No point doing it when our best player has a mangled hand and coming off half a pre-season.

Goodwin is our first premiership coach in 50 years he is not stupid. Oliver, Petracca & Viney our greatest midfield ever but none elite kicks. We will play to our strengths when the time comes

I didn't see (and won't be seeing...) the game.

I'm interested to see if those who did saw any place for a Dee.

    Goodwin's voting is eloquent.

I wouldn't have given any Dee a vote

Did anyone see what happened to clarry on the wing? He gave away a free kick then gave the Carlton bloke an almighty spray. So something must have happened first.

He was being held out of the contest and threw the bloke out of his way. Then at the very next contest he was being held out again farce

Scott reckon his players were off at the start.

Whilst he is right, the reason they were off is we never allowed them to settle into a rhythm because goody schooled scott (supposedly a tactical genius) tactically.

I hope the media point that out, but I won't hold my breath.

True story - my 70 year old aunty who is dye hard geelong and goes every week, has done for decades said exactly the same same thing after the game. Completely out coached.

If the media can't see it and my aunty can she should be on tv. Probably tougher than Chris Scott too.
