Trac Brownlow /Demon flag is paying 338-1.
I will collect roughly 80k dressed as Dame Joan Sutherland from the Thomastown Tab and not get beaten up.

as for the comparisons with some of our present greats – almost impossible, and I say that as a huge fan of Oliver. Do we really have to choose between them?
When we drafted Oliver 6 seasons ago if anybody said we would ever be discussing him in the same sentence as Flower I would have told them where to go.
Now I think it's warranted.

I get the impression that he was winding you up.
It was a few years ago now. Everyone thought Cripps was better except Dees supporters.
You won't find many saying Cripps is better today.

He and Melksham are very expensive injury cover OD.
I think he stands a chance of pushing Tom Mac out.
Have just finished watchng the 3 or 4 games that Weid played in mid season. Got into a marking position mltiple times but couldn't complete the mark. Needs to get better in that area and we can see what happens.
Weid's biggest problem is he can't bring the ball to ground. He gets in position then just doesn't seem to even get his hands on it.
T Mac finished top 10 in the B&F in a premiership year. I doubt his spot is up for grabs.

Flower will always be a legend of our club. The skinny kid with glasses, not built like Truck or Oliver but was as committed and as gutsy.
He would be hoping that Truck and Oliver put him down the pecking order of Melbourne greatness with a dynasty.

Finals are not included in BandF counts.
Are you sure? They are obviously not in Brownlow because not every team plays.
But it would make no sense to stop the votes during the most important games of the year.

First premiership coach in 57 years is entitled to whatever he wants.
He works well on the sidelines with Yze in the box. I hope we can keep them together.

Congrats Clarry
I hope someone is there to help him with public speaking going forward
He was really struggling last night
When he wins the Norm Smith next year let's hope they forget to give him the microphone like what happened to Goody.
Public speaking might not be his strength but playing footy is and that's the main thing.

Not only did Clarry win the B&F in a premiership year he also has the most famous symbolic gesture in the MFC modern era when he raises his arm after his goal in the GF.
Truly one of our greatest ever and at 24 he might prove to be our greatest ever.

I used to live 2 doors down from Clarko. When I came home from a very long lunch I saw him in his driveway and asked him if he would prefer Cripps or Oliver. He said Cripps. I argued.
No wonder he got the sack.
He was great bloke though by the way.

Wrecker - we need far more than three midfielders, and I have absolutely no doubt that Sparrow will join Harmes, ANB and JJ(and Dunstan) in playing his role in this classy midfield.
When Oliver and Petracca play over 90% time on ground we don't have as many rotations as you think.

Sparrow could be a superstar but I doubt he will break into our midfield next year. Petracca, Viney or Oliver would need to be injured.
We have an exciting list.

Imagine Patrick Dangerfield coming to the Demons in a last pitch effort to finally win a Premiership? That would be a huge news story! I doubt Patrick Dangerfield would do that though as I think he is very happy living down in Geelong.
I think Chris Judd's grandmother said it's a chance.
Maybe he could carry the water for Oliver and Petracca.

I have a few mates with soil from the last Collingwood game at Victoria Park but I know it's legit because those ferals have photos of them digging it up themselves.

Hopefully Taj takes number 22
You would hope the next number 2 will be a gun maybe Laurie? Or retire it until we get someone JT is confident will continue the tradition.

Oliver easily.
Petracca had more brilliant games but even in the GF Clarry took out Bont and let Truck star. Selfless.
In the talk with Barassi and Flower for greatest Demon of all time. Isn't yet but he still has a decade of football in him.

Martin Pike and his x4 premership medallions also say hello. Beast of a player, on (and off) the field.
I seem to recall from his Open Mike interview, that by the time he got to Brisbane, he'd realised that he had to pull his head in amd Leigh Mathews certainly wouldn't have put up with any crap, which might also have had something to do with it.
It's very rare I disagree with you RBG. But... Pike was no Saint at Brisbane.

There were 2 Jackson's that were instrumental in the premiership.

Can't play all of your mids on the defensive side. Would make it impossible to contest a backwards tap by our ruckman and leave them free to simply take the ball out the back of the pack with no pressure.
They need to man up where possible, and play a fast mid out the back to cover for a front of centre clearance.
The 6-6-6 rule works well for us currently.
I was having a bit of a joke but the Bulldogs would have to go ultra defensive in round 1 after the GF. If we just stream out of the centre questions will be asked about Bevo

Very good point. As much as Treloar kicked 3 goals and was their 2nd best on ground. He (and Bont) were one of the 4 in the middle who lost it for them in the length of time it takes to take a whizz.
In round 1 it wouldn't surprise me if the Bulldogs mids set up a wall at centre bounces like soccer teams do just to stop us moving it forward

The 2013 big 4 of Mark Jamar, Nathan Jones, Matt Jones and Jordie Mckenzie with Rohan Bail and Jimmy Toumpas providing able support would also come close.
I reckon Jordie McKenzie could play a role now. He fits alot of our criteria.

The whole side were built like juiced up tanks compared to the rest of the competition.
And there are question marks on Geelongs drought breaking side with Danks involvement pre essendon.
It was Thompson who told Hird his side wasn't strong enough and got across both Dank and "the Weapon".
But the AFL did a leftie media job on that and smothered the story with a pillow.Thompson was out at Home House, Geelong's nightclub famous for party drugs and late nights during his tenure.

West coast 2006 had Cox, Judd, Cousins, Kerr plus “the good stuff” at least for two of them.
I would say at least 3 of them. I don't know about Cox.

Oliver won the coaches award and when the GF was in the balance in the 2nd half played on Bont and gave the widely regarded best player in the league a footballing lesson.
Petracca player one of the most dominant performances in a grand final ever.
Gawn is now a premiership captain and AA captain and dragged us there at stages. (Hello Geelong twice)
Viney always turns up in the big games and helped build the culture.
Not near the best ever yet but they could give it a crack over the next few years.
Jackson and Sparrow would walk into any other side's starting midfield but they have to wait and just rotate. Promising times.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
Goodwin can coach from the bench because he can trust Yze and others in the box to make calls.
He also does it to predict the momentum from ground level. If the opposition get a run on he decides if it is due to our structures, matchups or a bit of luck. He is proving to be very good at it.
