  1. Don’t know why so many posters here are negative about this idea. The more I’ve thought about it, the more it makes sense. Majak’s key strength is taking contest marks from long high balls into packs. That’s the Goodwin game plan. It’s been our our weakness for years. We don’t have a big bloke at FF capable of taking pack grabs. Isn’t that what we’ve been asking for? That’s essentially Daw’s bread and butter. Unlike BBB, who is nailed to the train tracks and is a true lead up forward. WIth the likes of Viney and Brayshaw and Oliver bursting out of the middle and with an inability to lower eyes and hit a lead up forward, we can bomb long to a bloke who is tough to match up on, reads the ball well in flight and clunks big marks in packs. It just makes sense to me. All this works on the presumption tht he is dedicated enough to meet the demands of AFL, has a clear mind and avoids injury. However, he has some serious upside and suits our game plan of the last 5 years. This highlights package shows his skill set pretty well
  2. The MCG, if unable to cater for large crowds, should consider utilising the car park and setting up big screens outside the stadium for the fans, in Yarra Park. They have done similar with the cricket and I think it should be considered in 2021. I know tht winter offers up some problems weather wise, but a lot of paid up members, both MFC and MCC will miss out on tickets to bigger matches if there is a 50% crowd capacity. The same applies to other clubs. Just a thought
  3. Can just see this being a bigger issue. Soon enough we will hear he won’t do a pre season match. Then he will miss the first month of the season. Then it’ll be mid year. I sincerely hope I’m wrong, but we have seen this movie before
  4. Melbourne City is owned by Man City and I didn’t mention Barcelona. The point was made by another poster that Man City “have no fans” and therefore pose no threat to the MFC in the Casey area. I am simply making the point that others have made here - with the big money from City Football Group, we are gonna have a hard time competing for youth support in the south east. To think otherwise is simply ignorant. Immigrants that populate these areas are soccer fans. It’ll be a much easier connection than we offer. Anyway, the argument is going nowhere. Casey is a dump and we should get out of there ASAP. Players hate it. Majority of fans dislike it. We aren’t growing fans out there. Move on
  5. I guess it’s like how people say the MFC have no fans. When you start looking at the stats, you realise the reality. Anyway, this isn’t about City, but rather Soccer vs AFL. That’s the argument. I’ll let you chew the EPL attendance stats overs
  6. As a school teacher, I’d have to disagree with you. I’ve worked in primary schools where soccer is king and others where it’s pure Aussie Rules. This is usually geographically dictated. City have plenty of supporters worldwide. Money talks and ....well you know the rest. we don’t have any real cash and will be competing against oil money who want Melb City to succeed
  7. . Given the choice between Soccer and Aussie Rules, competing with the might of City Football Group, you really think we will make inroads? What inroads have we made in the 10 years we’ve been there? Give me the figures? Any migrant Casey kids playing for the MFC? Aguero Vs Gawn.....good luck winning that one
  8. None of our supporters live in that area. I don’t have the stats, but I’d have a guess that around 2% would live in that area. Casey is a growing area that caters to a lot of migrants, none of whom are interested in Australian Football. With City Football Group now in competition for supporters in the area, and the A League moving to a winter sport, there is no better time than now to cut the cord with Casey. It’s a waste of time. Soccer will have far greater success in that area than we ever will.
  9. Having watched his highlights, one thing I like about him is the aggression he shows. He genuinely loves tackling blokes and knows how to get the shoulder low and drive the tackle. He should be on our radar. He and Kozzy would be a deadly little combo
  10. Just saw that Matt Parker has been pushed out of the Saints. A dangerous forward with freakish talent, who is on the inconsistent side. Still young. Is he worth a punt??? It’d be a cheap pickup and we are still in need of a small forward and a Hannan replacement last year’s highlights package:-
  11. You would offer him a 1 year deal.
  12. Didn’t they just announce they were having a second child together?? Has this story about his wife leaving him been verified? Source ??
  13. Bruce was horrendous, as is the norm these days. How was the passage where Max King got the ball in the last quarter, ran straight into the tackle and Bruce shot his load because he liked what he saw. The guy was pinged for holding the ball. It was rubbish. I remember him doing the same for a young Hawthorn player that took on a Melbourne player in the 2018 final and got caught holding the ball, but his focus was on how good the hawks kid was for trying to take on the tackle. He has lost the plot.
  14. How good! Happy Friday to all. A favourite son back in the fold. Just what this club has been missing.
  15. So Melbourne send out a social media farewell post for this turncoat, but didn’t have the decency to do the same for Watts? Is that right ?
  16. I hope you sources are correct. All sounds positive, but this is very similar to last year when it all looked set to happen and then fell over. I really hope you are right.
  17. Any updates on this? nothing popping up in the media. You’d think they’d have wind of it by now if it was on
  18. I am confident this deal will happen. Heard from a usually reliable source that Adem was super keen to join at the end of 2019 and we were chasing him hard. Hawthorn played hardball and refused to let him break the contract that was in place and there was an understanding that he’d join Melbourne at the end of 2020. It sounds like this is very close to happening now.
  19. I think Nathan Jones as a playing coach on a 1 year reduced salary is a perfect scenario. He may play 6 games to reach 300, he may not. He is perfect insurance . Despite being in the twilight of his career, his matches this year were serviceable. He had a few poor moments, but overall he was pretty solid. I said to a number of mates throughout the year that I’d prefer Jones as a backup on the list helping younger players in the magoos than keeping players like the Wagners around. No disrespect to the Wagner bros, but they are not AFL standard footballers and were not going to take the list forward. Jones is reliable and can play at the level when required.
  20. I’m shocked that his mother engages with nuffies on tht page. She was regularly on the pages commenting on Facebook from the start of the season. Whilst the whole situation is sad and I feel for Harley, there is an air of “he’s the victim” in all this. He was provided a lifeline and promised not to drink. He stuffed up and cost the club $50k, then went MIA from all reports and refused to answer questions. I think MFC supporters have been super supportive of Harley this year. There was another family member on that page blaming the club for not trusting him to play AFL this year and not playing him. There is a bit more going on here methinks.
  21. No issue with all you’ve posted. However, the issue is, he has had years to work on his shortcomings and by all reports I’ve heard, does not take onboard feedback. That is an area he needs to improve. Accepting that he is not perfect and work on areas of his game. Perhaps he is not coachable
  22. You don’t have to concede everything, but your initial point was well made. I think the issue with JV is not at centre bounces, where he excels most of the time, but rather his decision making at stoppages around the ground and in general play. His willingness to step inside to initiate contact and break tackles is the hindrance in his game. Would you disagree with that ??
  23. Can you now make one showing the passages where Viney receives the ball in space, has the option to use his left, but comes back inside to absorb contact from two tacklers, before either a) getting caught holding the ball; or b) getting a scrubby possession forward.
  24. Damo Barrett on The Sunday Footy Show mentioned tht he thinks Brown will end up at one of the finals teams. Doesn’t sound like he is connected to Melbourne in anyway at all.
