  1. - One of them (Duke) was linked to LJ (who we acquired by finishing very low in ‘19) - one of them was because we finished 10th this year - one of them (9 this yr) we’ve paid a hefty price for, both current picks and future I think we are going ok on this front but I’d stop short of being amazed about how we’ve do it after ‘being at the pointy end of the ladder most of the time’
  2. Apologies if triggering but if it makes you feel any better I always assumed Scoop of the Sam variety was a reference to a pooper scooper
  3. Something not adding up for me… didn’t Lamb say we had a late pick this draft?
  4. was that Scoop Maclure’s Geelong microphone at the presser? Could’ve been any one of their’s really…
  5. Timmy Lamb not sitting around, his frugal draft strategy has always centred around nabbing a 2hr street park on the final day and avoiding an all day spot under the stadium
  6. Carlton just got pick 3 for 12, 14 and Matt Owies. WC then gives 14 for Liam Baker. That is horrendous business from Wet Toast. All of it.
  7. Possible. Wright is well out of the picture now and Fly is on record as saying he wants players, not picks.
  8. I was half-expecting it to be a Clayton’s review, pardon the pun
  9. Yeah I thought Port were copping a bad deal there, if you believe Houston is worth 2x first rounders. Sense GC & Coll were keen to bundle all the deals together and Port realised late that giving up that future first rounder just didn’t make sense. Collingwood will need to give more than fringe players and a future first rounder to make this work.
  10. This was the Doggies’ whinge recently - got JUH and Darcy but they burnt all of their late picks to do so and believed they had issues with depth down the track as a result. proper 1st world problems though
  11. I like this idea. Get that bloke a flag.
  12. I was thinking the same. 5 needs to earn his stripes, pick 9 complements the existing bench better.
  13. He just said that pick 9 has already requested a trade from Melbourne
  14. Has a mid-season draft recruit who is a KPP ever ‘made it’? Newcombe and Ambrosio as mids the benchmarks for what you can pick up at that time of the year.
  15. Why was he even on the radio? Would’ve thought he’d Be smart enough to realise the only reason they wanted him on was to get a soundbyte about the club’s perils
  16. it would be professionally irresponsible not to dig a bit deeper in light of some of the stuff that has reportedly gone down. His time will come. President and CEO going at once creates a huge hole in leadership capability and experience. Sponsors wouldn’t want that, the board wouldn’t want that, the AFL wouldn’t want that. Like him or hate him, he is important to us right now. We finished 10th and he has a growing list of ‘misses’. Not unreasonable for him to be under pressure.
  17. Where were these ‘people around Clayton’ this time 12 months ago?
  18. Don’t disagree with either comment. What I wrote is by no means statistically significant, but interesting nonetheless in the context of @goodwindees comment about the scope of the internal review.
  19. Not sure what you were expecting? Sounded fine to me.
  20. Reverse death ride! Our tussles with Fremantle are more interesting off the field. Lamby knows what the people want.
  21. But hey, they don’t get as many ‘nice guy points’ as we do, right? Where can we redeem those nice guy points by the way?
  22. John Noble is being massively overrated this trade period. Wasn’t in there best 22 12 months ago yet all of a sudden the pies want more for him than what we want for Nibbler
  23. World’s-hairiest-bum-in-flames
  24. Someone Giants-related spoke about this scenario the other day in the media (I am going to say it was Bartel but can’t remember) - they have a growing problem with young players they’re developing putting their hand up and saying they're either homesick or looking for more opportunity… the insinuation was this isn’t an issue for southern- states teams. Their stance might be less about Diggler specifically and more about sending a message to their playing list.
  25. I don’t disagree Salary caps were smaller back then (I think). It raises the point though; compensation - or at least I believe - is about looking after sides who are losing players in free agency beyond their control ie to successful sides in a premiership window, as much as it is a size of contract thing… I think that is where the ‘special herbs and spices’ come in, there are some elements beyond salary size/contract length that determine compensation.
